The Bible can be viewed as fitting into 8 categories. The image below identifies each of these areas, lists the books and a key verse. In addition to that verse, if you were going to read just ONE book from each of these sections, I would suggest the following books for each section because of the content, scope and details revealed. If you read each of those books you'd have a pretty good overview of mankind's failures, God's redemptive plan, mercy, grace and love, and something about how to live. Although for Walking by Faith there's 3 chapters to read: Galatians 5, Ephesians 5 and I Thessalonians 5. Try these books, the New American Standard translation is at the top and in the middle. The KJV is there because it uses different words, and different ways of saying things that make one think. The Greek is there to understand the deeper meaning of the words used. If I could find a plain text copy of Die Heilige Schrift and the NKJV I'd consider incorporating them into a page. This was a lot of work. This project has been in process for a few years. I've been using the scripts and Linux commands used to build this site as teaching examples. But, if you're new to the Bible or curious, these books would be a good start, if you've been trusting Jesus for a long time you're likely familiar with all of these books, but it's always fresh to read them again. I will be as well. :) 1) The LAW - read the book of Genesis http://bibletech.net/STUDY/0001_01_Genesis_01_nas.html 2) History - read the book of Joshua http://bibletech.net/STUDY/0188_06_Joshua_01_nas.html 3) WISDOM - read the book of Proverbs http://bibletech.net/STUDY/0629_20_Proverbs_01_nas.html 4) Prophets - read the book of Daniel http://bibletech.net/STUDY/0851_27_Daniel_01_nas.html 5) Gospels - read the book of John http://bibletech.net/STUDY/0998_43_John_01_nas.html 6) Paul - read the book of Romans http://bibletech.net/STUDY/1047_45_Romans_01_nas.html 7) Letters - read the book of Hebrews http://bibletech.net/STUDY/1134_58_Hebrews_01_nas.html 8) Revelation... the Revelation of Jesus Christ. http://bibletech.net/STUDY/1168_66_Revelation_01_nas.html
