======= Joshua 5:1 ============ Jos 5:1 Now it came about when all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard how the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel until they had crossed, that their hearts melted, and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the sons of Israel.(nasb) Jos 5:1 καὶ á¼Î³á½³Î½ÎµÏ„ο ὡς ἤκουσαν οἱ βασιλεῖς τῶν ΑμοÏÏαίων οἳ ἦσαν πέÏαν τοῦ ΙοÏδάνου καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς Φοινίκης οἱ παÏá½° τὴν θάλασσαν ὅτι ἀπεξήÏανεν κύÏιος ὠθεὸς τὸν ΙοÏδάνην ποταμὸν á¼Îº τῶν ἔμπÏοσθεν τῶν υἱῶν ΙσÏαηλ á¼Î½ τῷ διαβαίνειν αá½Ï„ούς καὶ á¼Ï„άκησαν αá½Ï„ῶν αἱ διάνοιαι καὶ κατεπλάγησαν καὶ οá½Îº ἦν á¼Î½ αá½Ï„οῖς φÏόνησις οá½Î´ÎµÎ¼á½·Î± ἀπὸ Ï€Ïοσώπου τῶν υἱῶν ΙσÏαηλ (lxx) Jos 5:1 Postquam ergo audierunt omnes reges Amorrhæorum, qui habitabant trans Jordanem ad occidentalem plagam, et cuncti reges Chanaan, qui propinqua possidebant magni maris loca, quod siccasset Dominus fluenta Jordanis coram filiis Israël donec transirent, dissolutum est cor eorum, et non remansit in eis spiritus, timentium introitum filiorum Israël.~(vulgate) Jos 5:1 Da nun alle Könige der Amoriter, die jenseit des Jordans gegen Abend wohnten, und alle Könige der Kanaaniter am Meer hörten, wie der HERR das Wasser des Jordans hatte ausgetrocknet vor den Kindern Israel, bis sie hinübergingen, verzagte ihr Herz, und war kein Mut mehr in ihnen vor den Kindern Israel.(dhs) Jos 5:1 So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who were on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:2 ============ Jos 5:2 At that time the Lord said to Joshua, "Make for yourself flint knives and circumcise again the sons of Israel the second time."(nasb) Jos 5:2 ὑπὸ δὲ τοῦτον τὸν καιÏὸν εἶπεν κύÏιος τῷ Ἰησοῖ ποίησον σεαυτῷ μαχαίÏας πετÏίνας á¼Îº πέτÏας ἀκÏοτόμου καὶ καθίσας πεÏίτεμε τοὺς υἱοὺς ΙσÏαηλ (lxx) Jos 5:2 Eo tempore ait Dominus ad Josue: Fac tibi cultros lapideos, et circumcide secundo filios Israël.(vulgate) Jos 5:2 Zu der Zeit sprach der HERR zu Josua: Mach dir steinerne Messer und beschneide die Kinder Israel zum andernmal.(dhs) Jos 5:2 At that time the Lord said to Joshua, "Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:3 ============ Jos 5:3 So Joshua made himself flint knives and circumcised the sons of Israel at Gibeath-haaraloth.(nasb) Jos 5:3 καὶ á¼Ï€Î¿á½·Î·ÏƒÎµÎ½ Ἰησοῦς μαχαίÏας πετÏίνας ἀκÏοτόμους καὶ πεÏιέτεμεν τοὺς υἱοὺς ΙσÏαηλ á¼Ï€á½¶ τοῦ καλουμένου τόπου Βουνὸς τῶν ἀκÏοβυστιῶν (lxx) Jos 5:3 Fecit quod jusserat Dominus, et circumcidit filios Israël in colle præputiorum.(vulgate) Jos 5:3 Da machte sich Josua steinerne Messer und beschnitt die Kinder Israel auf dem Hügel Araloth.(dhs) Jos 5:3 So Joshua made flint knives for himself, and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:4 ============ Jos 5:4 This is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: all the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, died in the wilderness along the way after they came out of Egypt.(nasb) Jos 5:4 ὃν δὲ Ï„Ïόπον πεÏιεκάθαÏεν Ἰησοῦς τοὺς υἱοὺς ΙσÏαηλ ὅσοι ποτὲ á¼Î³á½³Î½Î¿Î½Ï„ο á¼Î½ τῇ á½Î´á¿· καὶ ὅσοι ποτὲ ἀπεÏίτμητοι ἦσαν τῶν á¼Î¾ÎµÎ»Î·Î»Ï…θότων á¼Î¾ Αἰγύπτου (lxx) Jos 5:4 Hæc autem causa est secundæ circumcisionis: omnis populus, qui egressus est de Ægypto generis masculini, universi bellatores viri, mortui sunt in deserto per longissimos viæ circuitus,(vulgate) Jos 5:4 Und das ist die Sache, darum Josua sie beschnitt: Alles Volk, das aus Ägypten gezogen war, die Männer, alle Kriegsleute, waren gestorben in der Wüste auf dem Wege, da sie aus Ägypten zogen.(dhs) Jos 5:4 And this is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: All the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, had died in the wilderness on the way, after they had come out of Egypt.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:5 ============ Jos 5:5 For all the people who came out were circumcised, but all the people who were born in the wilderness along the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.(nasb) Jos 5:5 πάντας τούτους πεÏιέτεμεν Ἰησοῦς (lxx) Jos 5:5 qui omnes circumcisi erant. Populus autem qui natus est in deserto,(vulgate) Jos 5:5 Denn alles Volk, das auszog war beschnitten; aber alles Volk, das in der Wüste geboren war, auf dem Wege, da sie aus Ägypten zogen, das war nicht beschnitten.(dhs) Jos 5:5 For all the people who came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness, on the way as they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:6 ============ Jos 5:6 For the sons of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, that is, the men of war who came out of Egypt, perished because they did not listen to the voice of the Lord, to whom the Lord had sworn that He would not let them see the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.(nasb) Jos 5:6 τεσσαÏάκοντα Î³á½°Ï ÎºÎ±á½¶ δύο ἔτη ἀνέστÏαπται ΙσÏαηλ á¼Î½ τῇ á¼Ïήμῳ τῇ ΜαδβαÏίτιδι διὸ ἀπεÏίτμητοι ἦσαν οἱ πλεῖστοι αá½Ï„ῶν τῶν μαχίμων τῶν á¼Î¾ÎµÎ»Î·Î»Ï…θότων á¼Îº γῆς Αἰγύπτου οἱ ἀπειθήσαντες τῶν á¼Î½Ï„ολῶν τοῦ θεοῦ οἷς καὶ διώÏισεν μὴ ἰδεῖν αá½Ï„οὺς τὴν γῆν ἣν ὤμοσεν κύÏιος τοῖς πατÏάσιν αá½Ï„ῶν δοῦναι ἡμῖν γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι (lxx) Jos 5:6 per quadraginta annos itineris latissimæ solitudinis incircumcisus fuit: donec consumerentur qui non audierant vocem Domini, et quibus ante juraverat ut non ostenderet eis terram lacte et melle manantem.(vulgate) Jos 5:6 Denn die Kinder Israel wandelten vierzig Jahre in der Wüste, bis daß das ganze Volk der Kriegsmänner, die aus Ägypten gezogen waren, umkamen, darum daß sie der Stimme des HERRN nicht gehorcht hatten; wie denn der HERR ihnen geschworen hatte uns zu geben, ein Land, darin Milch und Honig fließt.(dhs) Jos 5:6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord--to whom the Lord swore that He would not show them the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, "a land flowing with milk and honey."(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:7 ============ Jos 5:7 Their children whom He raised up in their place, Joshua circumcised; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them along the way.(nasb) Jos 5:7 ἀντὶ δὲ τούτων ἀντικατέστησεν τοὺς υἱοὺς αá½Ï„ῶν οὓς Ἰησοῦς πεÏιέτεμεν διὰ τὸ αá½Ï„οὺς γεγενῆσθαι κατὰ τὴν á½Î´á½¸Î½ ἀπεÏιτμήτους (lxx) Jos 5:7 Horum filii in locum successerunt patrum, et circumcisi sunt a Josue: quia sicut nati fuerant, in præputio erant, nec eos in via aliquis circumciderat.(vulgate) Jos 5:7 Deren Kinder, die an ihrer Statt waren aufgekommen, beschnitt Josua; denn sie hatten Vorhaut und waren auf dem Wege nicht beschnitten.(dhs) Jos 5:7 Then Joshua circumcised their sons whom He raised up in their place; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the way.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:8 ============ Jos 5:8 Now when they had finished circumcising all the nation, they remained in their places in the camp until they were healed.(nasb) Jos 5:8 πεÏιτμηθέντες δὲ ἡσυχίαν εἶχον αá½Ï„όθι καθήμενοι á¼Î½ τῇ παÏεμβολῇ ἕως ὑγιάσθησαν (lxx) Jos 5:8 Postquam autem omnes circumcisi sunt, manserunt in eodem castrorum loco, donec sanarentur.(vulgate) Jos 5:8 Und da das ganze Volk beschnitten war, blieben sie an ihrem Ort im Lager, bis sie heil wurden.(dhs) Jos 5:8 So it was, when they had finished circumcising all the people, that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:9 ============ Jos 5:9 Then the Lord said to Joshua, "Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." So the name of that place is called Gilgal to this day.(nasb) Jos 5:9 καὶ εἶπεν κύÏιος τῷ Ἰησοῖ υἱῷ Îαυη á¼Î½ τῇ σήμεÏον ἡμέÏá¾³ ἀφεῖλον τὸν ὀνειδισμὸν Αἰγύπτου ἀφ᾽ ὑμῶν καὶ á¼Îºá½±Î»ÎµÏƒÎµÎ½ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου á¼ÎºÎµá½·Î½Î¿Ï… Γαλγαλα (lxx) Jos 5:9 Dixitque Dominus ad Josue: Hodie abstuli opprobrium Ægypti a vobis. Vocatumque est nomen loci illius Galgala, usque in præsentem diem.~(vulgate) Jos 5:9 Und der HERR sprach zu Josua: Heute habe ich die Schande Ägyptens von euch gewendet. Und diese Stätte ward Gilgal genannt bis auf diesen Tag.(dhs) Jos 5:9 Then the Lord said to Joshua, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:10 ============ Jos 5:10 While the sons of Israel camped at Gilgal they observed the Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the month on the desert plains of Jericho.(nasb) Jos 5:10 καὶ á¼Ï€Î¿á½·Î·ÏƒÎ±Î½ οἱ υἱοὶ ΙσÏαηλ τὸ πασχα τῇ τεσσαÏεσκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέÏá¾³ τοῦ μηνὸς ἀπὸ ἑσπέÏας á¼Ï€á½¶ δυσμῶν ΙεÏιχω á¼Î½ τῷ πέÏαν τοῦ ΙοÏδάνου á¼Î½ τῷ πεδίῳ (lxx) Jos 5:10 Manseruntque filii Israël in Galgalis, et fecerunt Phase quartadecima die mensis ad vesperum in campestribus Jericho:(vulgate) Jos 5:10 Und als die Kinder Israel also in Gilgal das Lager hatten, hielten sie Passah am vierzehnten Tage des Monats am Abend auf dem Gefilde Jerichos(dhs) Jos 5:10 Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:11 ============ Jos 5:11 On the day after the Passover, on that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain.(nasb) Jos 5:11 καὶ á¼Ï†á½±Î³Î¿ÏƒÎ±Î½ ἀπὸ τοῦ σίτου τῆς γῆς ἄζυμα καὶ νέα á¼Î½ ταύτῃ τῇ ἡμέÏá¾³ (lxx) Jos 5:11 et comederunt de frugibus terræ die altero, azymos panes, et polentam ejusdem anni.(vulgate) Jos 5:11 und aßen vom Getreide des Landes am Tag nach dem Passah, nämlich ungesäuertes Brot und geröstete Körner, ebendesselben Tages.(dhs) Jos 5:11 And they ate of the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain, on the very same day.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:12 ============ Jos 5:12 The manna ceased on the day after they had eaten some of the produce of the land, so that the sons of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate some of the yield of the land of Canaan during that year.(nasb) Jos 5:12 á¼Î¾á½³Î»Î¹Ï€ÎµÎ½ τὸ μαννα μετὰ τὸ βεβÏωκέναι αá½Ï„οὺς á¼Îº τοῦ σίτου τῆς γῆς καὶ οá½Îºá½³Ï„ι ὑπῆÏχεν τοῖς υἱοῖς ΙσÏαηλ μαννα á¼ÎºÎ±Ïπίσαντο δὲ τὴν χώÏαν τῶν Φοινίκων á¼Î½ τῷ á¼Î½Î¹Î±Ï…τῷ á¼ÎºÎµá½·Î½á¿³ (lxx) Jos 5:12 Defecitque manna postquam comederunt de frugibus terræ, nec usi sunt ultra cibo illo filii Israël, sed comederunt de frugibus præsentis anni terræ Chanaan.~(vulgate) Jos 5:12 Und das Man hörte auf des andern Tages, da sie des Landes Getreide aßen, daß die Kinder Israel kein Man mehr hatten, sondern aßen vom Getreide des Landes Kanaan in demselben Jahr.(dhs) Jos 5:12 Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year.(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:13 ============ Jos 5:13 Now it came about when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, "Are you for us or for our adversaries?"(nasb) Jos 5:13 καὶ á¼Î³á½³Î½ÎµÏ„ο ὡς ἦν Ἰησοῦς á¼Î½ ΙεÏιχω καὶ ἀναβλέψας τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς εἶδεν ἄνθÏωπον ἑστηκότα á¼Î½Î±Î½Ï„ίον αá½Ï„οῦ καὶ ἡ ῥομφαία á¼ÏƒÏ€Î±ÏƒÎ¼á½³Î½Î· á¼Î½ τῇ χειÏá½¶ αá½Ï„οῦ καὶ Ï€Ïοσελθὼν Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αá½Ï„á¿· ἡμέτεÏος εἶ á¼¢ τῶν ὑπεναντίων (lxx) Jos 5:13 Cum autem esset Josue in agro urbis Jericho, levavit oculos, et vidit virum stantem contra se, evaginatum tenentem gladium: perrexitque ad eum, et ait: Noster es, an adversariorum?(vulgate) Jos 5:13 Und es begab sich, da Josua bei Jericho war, daß er seine Augen aufhob und ward gewahr, daß ein Mann ihm gegenüberstand und hatte sein bloßes Schwert in seiner Hand. Und Josua ging zu ihm und sprach zu ihm: Gehörst du uns an oder unsern Feinden?(dhs) Jos 5:13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, "What has my lord to say to his servant?"(nasb) Jos 5:14 ὠδὲ εἶπεν αá½Ï„á¿· á¼Î³á½¼ á¼€ÏχιστÏάτηγος δυνάμεως κυÏίου νυνὶ παÏαγέγονα καὶ Ἰησοῦς ἔπεσεν á¼Ï€á½¶ Ï€Ïόσωπον á¼Ï€á½¶ τὴν γῆν καὶ εἶπεν αá½Ï„á¿· δέσποτα τί Ï€Ïοστάσσεις τῷ σῷ οἰκέτῃ (lxx) Jos 5:14 Qui respondit: Nequaquam: sed sum princeps exercitus Domini, et nunc venio.(vulgate) Jos 5:14 Er sprach: Nein, sondern ich bin ein Fürst über das Heer des HERRN und bin jetzt gekommen. Da fiel Josua auf sein Angesicht zur Erde und betete an und sprach zu ihm: Was sagt mein HERR seinem Knecht?(dhs) Jos 5:14 So He said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?"(nkjv) ======= Joshua 5:15 ============ Jos 5:15 The captain of the Lord's host said to Joshua, "Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.(nasb) Jos 5:15 καὶ λέγει á½ á¼€ÏχιστÏάτηγος κυÏίου Ï€Ïὸς Ἰησοῦν λῦσαι τὸ ὑπόδημα á¼Îº τῶν ποδῶν σου á½ Î³á½°Ï Ï„á½¹Ï€Î¿Ï‚ á¼Ï†á¾½ á¾§ σὺ ἕστηκας ἅγιός á¼ÏƒÏ„ιν (lxx) Jos 5:15 Cecidit Josue pronus in terram, et adorans ait: Quid dominus meus loquitur ad servum suum? Solve, inquit, calceamentum tuum de pedibus tuis: locus enim, in quo stas, sanctus est. Fecitque Josue ut sibi fuerat imperatum.(vulgate) Jos 5:15 Und der Fürst über das Heer des HERRN sprach zu Josua: Zieh deine Schuhe aus von deinen Füßen; denn die Stätte, darauf du stehst, ist heilig. Und Josua tat also.(dhs) Jos 5:15 Then the Commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua, "Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy."
