Die Weisheit des Menschen erleuchtet sein Angesicht; aber ein freches Angesicht wird gehaßt.(dhs) Ecl 8:1 Who is like a wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man's wisdom makes his face shine, And the sternness of his face is changed.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:2 ============ Ecl 8:2 I say, "Keep the command of the king because of the oath before God.(nasb) Ecl 8:2 στόμα βασιλέως φύλαξον καὶ πεÏá½¶ λόγου á½…Ïκου θεοῦ μὴ σπουδάσῃς (lxx) Ecl 8:2 Ego os regis observo, et præcepta juramenti Dei.(vulgate) Ecl 8:2 Halte das Wort des Königs und den Eid Gottes.(dhs) Ecl 8:2 I say, "Keep the king's commandment for the sake of your oath to God.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:3 ============ Ecl 8:3 Do not be in a hurry to leave him. Do not join in an evil matter, for he will do whatever he pleases."(nasb) Ecl 8:3 ἀπὸ Ï€Ïοσώπου αá½Ï„οῦ ποÏεύσῃ μὴ στῇς á¼Î½ λόγῳ πονηÏá¿· ὅτι πᾶν ὃ á¼á½°Î½ θελήσῃ ποιήσει (lxx) Ecl 8:3 Ne festines recedere a facie ejus, neque permaneas in opere malo: quia omne quod voluerit faciet.(vulgate) Ecl 8:3 Eile nicht zu gehen von seinem Angesicht, und bleibe nicht in böser Sache; denn er tut, was er will.(dhs) Ecl 8:3 Do not be hasty to go from his presence. Do not take your stand for an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him."(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:4 ============ Ecl 8:4 Since the word of the king is authoritative, who will say to him, "What are you doing?"(nasb) Ecl 8:4 καθὼς λαλεῖ βασιλεὺς á¼Î¾Î¿Ï…σιάζων καὶ τίς á¼Ïεῖ αá½Ï„á¿· τί ποιήσεις (lxx) Ecl 8:4 Et sermo illius potestate plenus est, nec dicere ei quisquam potest: Quare ita facis?(vulgate) Ecl 8:4 In des Königs Wort ist Gewalt; und wer mag zu ihm sagen: Was machst du?(dhs) Ecl 8:4 Where the word of a king is, there is power; And who may say to him, "What are you doing?"(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:5 ============ Ecl 8:5 He who keeps a royal command experiences no trouble, for a wise heart knows the proper time and procedure.(nasb) Ecl 8:5 ὠφυλάσσων á¼Î½Ï„ολὴν οὠγνώσεται ῥῆμα πονηÏόν καὶ καιÏὸν κÏίσεως γινώσκει καÏδία σοφοῦ (lxx) Ecl 8:5 Qui custodit præceptum non experietur quidquam mali. Tempus et responsionem cor sapientis intelligit.(vulgate) Ecl 8:5 Wer das Gebot hält, der wird nichts Böses erfahren; aber eines Weisen Herz weiß Zeit und Weise.(dhs) Ecl 8:5 He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful; And a wise man's heart discerns both time and judgment,(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:6 ============ Ecl 8:6 For there is a proper time and procedure for every delight, though a man's trouble is heavy upon him.(nasb) Ecl 8:6 ὅτι παντὶ Ï€Ïάγματι ἔστιν καιÏὸς καὶ κÏίσις ὅτι γνῶσις τοῦ ἀνθÏώπου πολλὴ á¼Ï€á¾½ αá½Ï„όν (lxx) Ecl 8:6 Omni negotio tempus est, et opportunitas: et multa hominis afflictio,(vulgate) Ecl 8:6 Denn ein jeglich Vornehmen hat seine Zeit und Weise; denn des Unglücks des Menschen ist viel bei ihm.(dhs) Ecl 8:6 Because for every matter there is a time and judgment, Though the misery of man increases greatly.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:7 ============ Ecl 8:7 If no one knows what will happen, who can tell him when it will happen?(nasb) Ecl 8:7 ὅτι οá½Îº ἔστιν γινώσκων τί τὸ á¼Ïƒá½¹Î¼ÎµÎ½Î¿Î½ ὅτι καθὼς ἔσται τίς ἀναγγελεῖ αá½Ï„á¿· (lxx) Ecl 8:7 quia ignorat præterita, et futura nullo scire potest nuntio.(vulgate) Ecl 8:7 Denn er weiß nicht, was geschehen wird; und wer soll ihm sagen, wie es werden soll?(dhs) Ecl 8:7 For he does not know what will happen; So who can tell him when it will occur?(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:8 ============ Ecl 8:8 No man has authority to restrain the wind with the wind, or authority over the day of death; and there is no discharge in the time of war, and evil will not deliver those who practice it.(nasb) Ecl 8:8 οá½Îº ἔστιν ἄνθÏωπος á¼Î¾Î¿Ï…σιάζων á¼Î½ πνεύματι τοῦ κωλῦσαι σὺν τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ οá½Îº ἔστιν á¼Î¾Î¿Ï…σία á¼Î½ ἡμέÏá¾³ τοῦ θανάτου καὶ οá½Îº ἔστιν ἀποστολὴ á¼Î½ τῷ πολέμῳ καὶ οὠδιασώσει ἀσέβεια τὸν παÏá¾½ αá½Ï„ῆς (lxx) Ecl 8:8 Non est in hominis potestate prohibere spiritum, nec habet potestatem in die mortis: nec sinitur quiescere ingruente bello, neque salvabit impietas impium.]~(vulgate) Ecl 8:8 Ein Mensch hat nicht Macht über den Geist, den Geist zurückzuhalten, und hat nicht Macht über den Tag des Todes, und keiner wird losgelassen im Streit; und das gottlose Wesen errettet den Gottlosen nicht.(dhs) Ecl 8:8 No one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, And no one has power in the day of death. There is no release from that war, And wickedness will not deliver those who are given to it.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:9 ============ Ecl 8:9 All this I have seen and applied my mind to every deed that has been done under the sun wherein a man has exercised authority over another man to his hurt.(nasb) Ecl 8:9 καὶ σὺν πᾶν τοῦτο εἶδον καὶ ἔδωκα τὴν καÏδίαν μου εἰς πᾶν ποίημα ὃ πεποίηται ὑπὸ τὸν ἥλιον τὰ ὅσα á¼Î¾Î¿Ï…σιάσατο ὠἄνθÏωπος á¼Î½ ἀνθÏώπῳ τοῦ κακῶσαι αá½Ï„όν (lxx) Ecl 8:9 [Omnia hæc consideravi, et dedi cor meum in cunctis operibus quæ fiunt sub sole. Interdum dominatur homo homini in malum suum.(vulgate) Ecl 8:9 Das habe ich alles gesehen, und richtete mein Herz auf alle Werke, die unter der Sonne geschehen. Ein Mensch herrscht zuzeiten über den andern zu seinem Unglück.(dhs) Ecl 8:9 All this I have seen, and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun: There is a time in which one man rules over another to his own hurt.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:10 ============ Ecl 8:10 So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out from the holy place, and they are soon forgotten in the city where they did thus. This too is futility.(nasb) Ecl 8:10 καὶ τότε εἶδον ἀσεβεῖς εἰς τάφους εἰσαχθέντας καὶ á¼Îº τόπου á¼Î³á½·Î¿Ï… á¼Ï€Î¿Ïεύθησαν καὶ á¼Ï€á¿ƒÎ½á½³Î¸Î·ÏƒÎ±Î½ á¼Î½ τῇ πόλει ὅτι οὕτως á¼Ï€Î¿á½·Î·ÏƒÎ±Î½ καί γε τοῦτο ματαιότης (lxx) Ecl 8:10 Vidi impios sepultos, qui etiam cum adhuc viverent in loco sancto erant, et laudabantur in civitate quasi justorum operum. Sed et hoc vanitas est.(vulgate) Ecl 8:10 Und da sah ich Gottlose, die begraben wurden und zur Ruhe kamen; aber es wandelten hinweg von heiliger Stätte und wurden vergessen in der Stadt die, so recht getan hatten. Das ist auch eitel.(dhs) Ecl 8:10 Then I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of holiness, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done. This also is vanity.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:11 ============ Ecl 8:11 Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil.(nasb) Ecl 8:11 ὅτι οá½Îº ἔστιν γινομένη ἀντίÏÏησις ἀπὸ τῶν ποιούντων τὸ πονηÏὸν ταχύ διὰ τοῦτο á¼Ï€Î»Î·ÏοφοÏήθη καÏδία υἱῶν τοῦ ἀνθÏώπου á¼Î½ αá½Ï„οῖς τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὸ πονηÏόν (lxx) Ecl 8:11 Etenim quia non profertur cito contra malos sententia, absque timore ullo filii hominum perpetrant mala.(vulgate) Ecl 8:11 Weil nicht alsbald geschieht ein Urteil über die bösen Werke, dadurch wird das Herz der Menschen voll, Böses zu tun.(dhs) Ecl 8:11 Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:12 ============ Ecl 8:12 Although a sinner does evil a hundred times and may lengthen his life, still I know that it will be well for those who fear God, who fear Him openly.(nasb) Ecl 8:12 ὃς ἥμαÏτεν á¼Ï€Î¿á½·Î·ÏƒÎµÎ½ τὸ πονηÏὸν ἀπὸ τότε καὶ ἀπὸ μακÏότητος αá½Ï„á¿· ὅτι καί γε γινώσκω á¼Î³á½¼ ὅτι ἔσται ἀγαθὸν τοῖς φοβουμένοις τὸν θεόν ὅπως φοβῶνται ἀπὸ Ï€Ïοσώπου αá½Ï„οῦ (lxx) Ecl 8:12 Attamen peccator ex eo quod centies facit malum, et per patientiam sustentatur; ego cognovi quod erit bonum timentibus Deum, qui verentur faciem ejus.(vulgate) Ecl 8:12 Ob ein Sünder hundertmal Böses tut und lange lebt, so weiß ich doch, daß es wohl gehen wird denen, die Gott fürchten, die sein Angesicht scheuen.(dhs) Ecl 8:12 Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:13 ============ Ecl 8:13 But it will not be well for the evil man and he will not lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God.(nasb) Ecl 8:13 καὶ ἀγαθὸν οá½Îº ἔσται τῷ ἀσεβεῖ καὶ οὠμακÏυνεῖ ἡμέÏας á¼Î½ σκιᾷ ὃς οá½Îº ἔστιν φοβούμενος ἀπὸ Ï€Ïοσώπου τοῦ θεοῦ (lxx) Ecl 8:13 Non sit bonum impio, nec prolongentur dies ejus, sed quasi umbra transeant qui non timent faciem Domini.(vulgate) Ecl 8:13 Aber dem Gottlosen wird es nicht wohl gehen; und wie ein Schatten werden nicht lange leben, die sich vor Gott nicht fürchten.(dhs) Ecl 8:13 But it will not be well with the wicked; nor will he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he does not fear before God.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:14 ============ Ecl 8:14 There is futility which is done on the earth, that is, there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked. On the other hand, there are evil men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I say that this too is futility.(nasb) Ecl 8:14 ἔστιν ματαιότης á¼£ πεποίηται á¼Ï€á½¶ τῆς γῆς ὅτι εἰσὶ δίκαιοι ὅτι φθάνει Ï€Ïὸς αá½Ï„οὺς ὡς ποίημα τῶν ἀσεβῶν καὶ εἰσὶν ἀσεβεῖς ὅτι φθάνει Ï€Ïὸς αá½Ï„οὺς ὡς ποίημα τῶν δικαίων εἶπα ὅτι καί γε τοῦτο ματαιότης (lxx) Ecl 8:14 Est et alia vanitas quæ fit super terram: sunt justi quibus mala proveniunt quasi opera egerint impiorum: et sunt impii qui ita securi sunt quasi justorum facta habeant. Sed et hoc vanissimum judico.(vulgate) Ecl 8:14 Es ist eine Eitelkeit, die auf Erden geschieht: es sind Gerechte, denen geht es als hätten sie Werke der Gottlosen, und sind Gottlose, denen geht es als hätten sie Werke der Gerechten. Ich sprach: Das ist auch eitel.(dhs) Ecl 8:14 There is a vanity which occurs on earth, that there are just men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:15 ============ Ecl 8:15 So I commended pleasure, for there is nothing good for a man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be merry, and this will stand by him in his toils throughout the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.(nasb) Ecl 8:15 καὶ á¼Ï€á¿„νεσα á¼Î³á½¼ σὺν τὴν εá½Ï†Ïοσύνην ὅτι οá½Îº ἔστιν ἀγαθὸν τῷ ἀνθÏώπῳ ὑπὸ τὸν ἥλιον ὅτι εἰ μὴ τοῦ φαγεῖν καὶ τοῦ πιεῖν καὶ τοῦ εá½Ï†Ïανθῆναι καὶ αá½Ï„ὸ συμπÏοσέσται αá½Ï„á¿· á¼Î½ μόχθῳ αá½Ï„οῦ ἡμέÏας ζωῆς αá½Ï„οῦ ὅσας ἔδωκεν αá½Ï„á¿· ὠθεὸς ὑπὸ τὸν ἥλιον (lxx) Ecl 8:15 Laudavi igitur lætitiam; quod non esset homini bonum sub sole, nisi quod comederet, et biberet, atque gauderet, et hoc solum secum auferret de labore suo, in diebus vitæ suæ quos dedit ei Deus sub sole.(vulgate) Ecl 8:15 Darum lobte ich die Freude, daß der Mensch nichts Besseres hat unter der Sonne denn essen und trinken und fröhlich sein; und solches werde ihm von der Arbeit sein Leben lang, das ihm Gott gibt unter der Sonne.(dhs) Ecl 8:15 So I commended enjoyment, because a man has nothing better under the sun than to eat, drink, and be merry; for this will remain with him in his labor all the days of his life which God gives him under the sun.(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:16 ============ Ecl 8:16 When I gave my heart to know wisdom and to see the task which has been done on the earth (even though one should never sleep day or night),(nasb) Ecl 8:16 á¼Î½ οἷς ἔδωκα τὴν καÏδίαν μου τοῦ γνῶναι σοφίαν καὶ τοῦ ἰδεῖν τὸν πεÏισπασμὸν τὸν πεποιημένον á¼Ï€á½¶ τῆς γῆς ὅτι καί γε á¼Î½ ἡμέÏá¾³ καὶ á¼Î½ νυκτὶ ὕπνον á¼Î½ ὀφθαλμοῖς αá½Ï„οῦ οá½Îº ἔστιν βλέπων (lxx) Ecl 8:16 Et apposui cor meum ut scirem sapientiam, et intelligerem distentionem quæ versatur in terra. Est homo qui diebus et noctibus somnum non capit oculis.(vulgate) Ecl 8:16 Ich gab mein Herz, zu wissen die Weisheit und zu schauen die Mühe, die auf Erden geschieht, daß auch einer weder Tag noch Nacht den Schlaf sieht mit seinen Augen.(dhs) Ecl 8:16 When I applied my heart to know wisdom and to see the business that is done on earth, even though one sees no sleep day or night,(nkjv) ======= Ecclesiastes 8:17 ============ Ecl 8:17 and I saw every work of God, I concluded that man cannot discover the work which has been done under the sun. Even though man should seek laboriously, he will not discover; and though the wise man should say, "I know," he cannot discover.(nasb) Ecl 8:17 καὶ εἶδον σὺν πάντα τὰ ποιήματα τοῦ θεοῦ ὅτι οὠδυνήσεται ἄνθÏωπος τοῦ εὑÏεῖν σὺν τὸ ποίημα τὸ πεποιημένον ὑπὸ τὸν ἥλιον ὅσα ἂν μοχθήσῃ ὠἄνθÏωπος τοῦ ζητῆσαι καὶ οá½Ï‡ εὑÏήσει καί γε ὅσα ἂν εἴπῃ ὠσοφὸς τοῦ γνῶναι οὠδυνήσεται τοῦ εὑÏεῖν (lxx) Ecl 8:17 Et intellexi quod omnium operum Dei nullam possit homo invenire rationem eorum quæ fiunt sub sole; et quanto plus laboraverit ad quærendum, tanto minus inveniat: etiam si dixerit sapiens se nosse, non poterit reperire.](vulgate) Ecl 8:17 Und ich sah alle Werke Gottes, daß ein Mensch das Werk nicht finden kann, das unter der Sonne geschieht; und je mehr der Mensch arbeitet, zu suchen, je weniger er findet. Wenn er gleich spricht: "Ich bin weise und weiß es", so kann er's doch nicht finden.(dhs) Ecl 8:17 then I saw all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun.
