======= Acts 22:1 ============ Act 22:1 "Brethren and fathers, hear my defense which I now offer to you."(nasb) Act 22:1 ἄνδÏες ἀδελφοὶ καὶ πατÎÏες, ἀκοÏσατΠμου τῆς Ï€Ïὸς ὑμᾶς νυνὶ ἀπολογίας _(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:1 Viri fratres, et patres, audite quam ad vos nunc reddo rationem.(vulgate) Act 22:1 Ihr Männer, liebe Brüder und Väter, hört mein Verantworten an euch.(dhs) Act 22:1 "Brethren and fathers, hear my defense before you now."(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:2 ============ Act 22:2 And when they heard that he was addressing them in the Hebrew dialect, they became even more quiet; and he said,(nasb) Act 22:2 ἀκοÏσαντες δὲ ὅτι τῇ ἑβÏαΐδι διαλÎκτῳ Ï€Ïοσεφώνει αá½Ï„οῖς μᾶλλον παÏÎσχον ἡσυχίαν. καὶ φησίν _(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:2 Cum audissent autem quia hebræa lingua loqueretur ad illos, magis præstiterunt silentium.(vulgate) Act 22:2 Da sie aber hörten, daß er auf hebräisch zu ihnen redete, wurden sie noch stiller. Und er sprach:(dhs) Act 22:2 And when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they kept all the more silent. Then he said:(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:3 ============ Act 22:3 "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated under Gamaliel, strictly according to the law of our fathers, being zealous for God just as you all are today.(nasb) Act 22:3 á¼Î³ÏŽ Îµá¼°Î¼Î¹ á¼€Î½á½´Ï á¼°Î¿Ï…Î´Î±á¿–Î¿Ï‚, γεγεννημÎνος á¼Î½ ταÏσῶ τῆς κιλικίας, ἀνατεθÏαμμÎνος δὲ á¼Î½ τῇ πόλει ταÏτῃ, παÏá½° τοὺς πόδας γαμαλιὴλ πεπαιδευμÎνος κατὰ ἀκÏίβειαν τοῦ πατÏῴου νόμου, ζηλωτὴς ὑπάÏχων τοῦ θεοῦ καθὼς πάντες ὑμεῖς á¼ÏƒÏ„ε σήμεÏον·(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:3 Et dicit: Ego sum vir Judæus, natus in Tarso Ciliciæ, nutritus autem in ista civitate, secus pedes Gamaliel eruditus juxta veritatem paternæ legis, æmulator legis, sicut et vos omnes estis hodie:(vulgate) Act 22:3 Ich bin ein jüdischer Mann, geboren zu Tarsus in Zilizien und erzogen in dieser Stadt zu den Füßen Gamaliels, gelehrt mit allem Fleiß im väterlichen Gesetz, und war ein Eiferer um Gott, gleichwie ihr heute alle seid,(dhs) Act 22:3 "I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the strictness of our fathers' law, and was zealous toward God as you all are today.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:4 ============ Act 22:4 "I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and putting both men and women into prisons,(nasb) Act 22:4 ὃς ταÏτην τὴν á½Î´á½¸Î½ á¼Î´Î¯Ï‰Î¾Î± ἄχÏι θανάτου, δεσμεÏων καὶ παÏαδιδοὺς εἰς φυλακὰς ἄνδÏας τε καὶ γυναῖκας,(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:4 qui hanc viam persecutus sum usque ad mortem, alligans et tradens in custodias viros ac mulieres,(vulgate) Act 22:4 und habe diesen Weg verfolgt bis an den Tod. Ich band sie und überantwortete sie ins Gefängnis, Männer und Weiber;(dhs) Act 22:4 I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women,(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:5 ============ Act 22:5 as also the high priest and all the Council of the elders can testify. From them I also received letters to the brethren, and started off for Damascus in order to bring even those who were there to Jerusalem as prisoners to be punished.(nasb) Act 22:5 ὡς καὶ á½ á¼€ÏχιεÏεὺς μαÏτυÏεῖ μοι καὶ πᾶν τὸ Ï€ÏεσβυτÎÏιον· παÏá¾½ ὧν καὶ á¼Ï€Î¹ÏƒÏ„ολὰς δεξάμενος Ï€Ïὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς εἰς δαμασκὸν á¼Ï€Î¿Ïευόμην ἄξων καὶ τοὺς á¼ÎºÎµá¿–σε ὄντας δεδεμÎνους εἰς ἰεÏουσαλὴμ ἵνα τιμωÏηθῶσιν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:5 sicut princeps sacerdotum mihi testimonium reddit, et omnes majores natu: a quibus et epistolas accipiens, ad fratres Damascum pergebam, ut adducerem inde vinctos in Jerusalem ut punirentur.(vulgate) Act 22:5 wie mir auch der Hohepriester und der ganze Haufe der Ältesten Zeugnis gibt, von welchen ich Briefe nahm an die Brüder und reiste gen Damaskus; daß ich, die daselbst waren, gebunden führte gen Jerusalem, daß sie bestraft würden.(dhs) Act 22:5 as also the high priest bears me witness, and all the council of the elders, from whom I also received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus to bring in chains even those who were there to Jerusalem to be punished.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:6 ============ Act 22:6 "But it happened that as I was on my way, approaching Damascus about noontime, a very bright light suddenly flashed from heaven all around me,(nasb) Act 22:6 á¼Î³Îνετο δΠμοι ποÏευομÎνῳ καὶ á¼Î³Î³Î¯Î¶Î¿Î½Ï„ι τῇ δαμασκῶ πεÏá½¶ μεσημβÏίαν á¼Î¾Î±Î¯Ï†Î½Î·Ï‚ á¼Îº τοῦ οá½Ïανοῦ πεÏιαστÏάψαι φῶς ἱκανὸν πεÏá½¶ á¼Î¼Î,(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:6 Factum est autem, eunte me, et appropinquante Damasco media die, subito de cælo circumfulsit me lux copiosa:(vulgate) Act 22:6 Es geschah aber, da ich hinzog und nahe Damaskus kam, um den Mittag, umleuchtete mich schnell ein großes Licht vom Himmel.(dhs) Act 22:6 Now it happened, as I journeyed and came near Damascus at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around me.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:7 ============ Act 22:7 and I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?'(nasb) Act 22:7 ἔπεσά τε εἰς τὸ ἔδαφος καὶ ἤκουσα φωνῆς λεγοÏσης μοι, σαοὺλ σαοÏλ, τί με διώκεις;(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:7 et decidens in terram, audivi vocem dicentem mihi: Saule, Saule, quid me persequeris?(vulgate) Act 22:7 Und ich fiel zum Erdboden und hörte eine Stimme, die sprach: Saul, Saul, was verfolgst du mich?(dhs) Act 22:7 And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?'(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:8 ============ Act 22:8 "And I answered, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said to me, 'I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.'(nasb) Act 22:8 á¼Î³á½¼ δὲ ἀπεκÏίθην, τίς εἶ, κÏÏιε; εἶπÎν τε Ï€Ïός με, á¼Î³ÏŽ Îµá¼°Î¼Î¹ ἰησοῦς ὠναζωÏαῖος ὃν σὺ διώκεις.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:8 Ego autem respondi: Quis es, domine? Dixitque ad me: Ego sum Jesus Nazarenus, quem tu persequeris.(vulgate) Act 22:8 Ich antwortete aber: HERR, wer bist du? Und er sprach zu mir: Ich bin Jesus von Nazareth, den du verfolgst.(dhs) Act 22:8 So I answered, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said to me, 'I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.'(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:9 ============ Act 22:9 "And those who were with me saw the light, to be sure, but did not understand the voice of the One who was speaking to me.(nasb) Act 22:9 οἱ δὲ σὺν á¼Î¼Î¿á½¶ ὄντες τὸ μὲν φῶς á¼Î¸ÎµÎ¬ÏƒÎ±Î½Ï„ο τὴν δὲ φωνὴν οá½Îº ἤκουσαν τοῦ λαλοῦντός μοι.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:9 Et qui mecum erant, lumen quidem viderunt, vocem autem non audierunt ejus qui loquebatur mecum.(vulgate) Act 22:9 Die aber mit mir waren, sahen das Licht und erschraken; die Stimme aber des, der mit mir redete, hörten sie nicht.(dhs) Act 22:9 And those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they did not hear the voice of Him who spoke to me.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:10 ============ Act 22:10 "And I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Get up and go on into Damascus, and there you will be told of all that has been appointed for you to do.'(nasb) Act 22:10 εἶπον δÎ, τί ποιήσω, κÏÏιε; ὠδὲ κÏÏιος εἶπεν Ï€Ïός με, ἀναστὰς ποÏεÏου εἰς δαμασκόν, κἀκεῖ σοι λαληθήσεται πεÏá½¶ πάντων ὧν Ï„Îτακταί σοι ποιῆσαι.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:10 Et dixi: Quid faciam, domine? Dominus autem dixit ad me: Surgens vade Damascum: et ibi tibi dicetur de omnibus quæ te oporteat facere.(vulgate) Act 22:10 Ich sprach aber: HERR, was soll ich tun? Der HERR aber sprach zu mir: Stehe auf und gehe gen Damaskus; da wird man dir sagen von allem, was dir zu tun verordnet ist.(dhs) Act 22:10 So I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Arise and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all things which are appointed for you to do.'(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:11 ============ Act 22:11 "But since I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me and came into Damascus.(nasb) Act 22:11 ὡς δὲ οá½Îº á¼Î½Îβλεπον ἀπὸ τῆς δόξης τοῦ φωτὸς á¼ÎºÎµÎ¯Î½Î¿Ï…, χειÏαγωγοÏμενος ὑπὸ τῶν συνόντων μοι ἦλθον εἰς δαμασκόν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:11 Et cum non viderem præ claritate luminis illius, ad manum deductus a comitibus, veni Damascum.(vulgate) Act 22:11 Als ich aber von der Klarheit dieses Lichtes nicht sehen konnte, ward ich bei der Hand geleitet von denen, die mit mir waren, und kam gen Damaskus.(dhs) Act 22:11 And since I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of those who were with me, I came into Damascus.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:12 ============ Act 22:12 "A certain Ananias, a man who was devout by the standard of the Law, and well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there,(nasb) Act 22:12 á¼Î½Î±Î½Î¯Î±Ï‚ δΠτις, á¼€Î½á½´Ï Îµá½Î»Î±Î²á½´Ï‚ κατὰ τὸν νόμον, μαÏτυÏοÏμενος ὑπὸ πάντων τῶν κατοικοÏντων ἰουδαίων,(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:12 Ananias autem quidam vir secundum legem, testimonium habens ab omnibus cohabitantibus Judæis,(vulgate) Act 22:12 Es war aber ein gottesfürchtiger Mann nach dem Gesetz, Ananias, der ein gut Gerücht hatte bei allen Juden, die daselbst wohnten;(dhs) Act 22:12 Then a certain Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good testimony with all the Jews who dwelt there,(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:13 ============ Act 22:13 came to me, and standing near said to me, 'Brother Saul, receive your sight!' And at that very time I looked up at him.(nasb) Act 22:13 á¼Î»Î¸á½¼Î½ Ï€Ïός με καὶ á¼Ï€Î¹ÏƒÏ„á½°Ï‚ εἶπÎν μοι, σαοὺλ ἀδελφÎ, ἀνάβλεψον· κἀγὼ αá½Ï„ῇ τῇ á½¥Ïá¾³ ἀνÎβλεψα εἰς αá½Ï„όν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:13 veniens ad me et astans, dixit mihi: Saule frater, respice. Et ego eadem hora respexi in eum.(vulgate) Act 22:13 der kam zu mir und trat her und sprach zu mir: Saul, lieber Bruder, siehe auf! Und ich sah ihn an zu derselben Stunde.(dhs) Act 22:13 came to me; and he stood and said to me, 'Brother Saul, receive your sight.' And at that same hour I looked up at him.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:14 ============ Act 22:14 "And he said, 'The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will and to see the Righteous One and to hear an utterance from His mouth.(nasb) Act 22:14 ὠδὲ εἶπεν, ὠθεὸς τῶν πατÎÏων ἡμῶν Ï€ÏοεχειÏίσατό σε γνῶναι τὸ θÎλημα αá½Ï„οῦ καὶ ἰδεῖν τὸν δίκαιον καὶ ἀκοῦσαι φωνὴν á¼Îº τοῦ στόματος αá½Ï„οῦ,(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:14 At ille dixit: Deus patrum nostrorum præordinavit te, ut cognosceres voluntatem ejus, et videres justum, et audires vocem ex ore ejus:(vulgate) Act 22:14 Er aber sprach: Der Gott unsrer Väter hat dich verordnet, daß du seinen Willen erkennen solltest und sehen den Gerechten und hören die Stimme aus seinem Munde;(dhs) Act 22:14 Then he said, 'The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:15 ============ Act 22:15 'For you will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard.(nasb) Act 22:15 ὅτι ἔσῃ μάÏτυς αá½Ï„á¿¶ Ï€Ïὸς πάντας ἀνθÏώπους ὧν ἑώÏακας καὶ ἤκουσας.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:15 quia eris testis illius ad omnes homines eorum quæ vidisti et audisti.(vulgate) Act 22:15 denn du wirst Zeuge zu allen Menschen sein von dem, das du gesehen und gehört hast.(dhs) Act 22:15 For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:16 ============ Act 22:16 'Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.'(nasb) Act 22:16 καὶ νῦν τί μÎλλεις; ἀναστὰς βάπτισαι καὶ ἀπόλουσαι τὰς á¼Î¼Î±Ïτίας σου á¼Ï€Î¹ÎºÎ±Î»ÎµÏƒÎ¬Î¼ÎµÎ½Î¿Ï‚ τὸ ὄνομα αá½Ï„οῦ.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:16 Et nunc quid moraris? Exsurge, et baptizare, et ablue peccata tua, invocato nomine ipsius.(vulgate) Act 22:16 Und nun, was verziehst du? Stehe auf und laß dich taufen und abwaschen deine Sünden und rufe an den Namen des HERRN!(dhs) Act 22:16 And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.'(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:17 ============ Act 22:17 "It happened when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I fell into a trance,(nasb) Act 22:17 á¼Î³Îνετο δΠμοι ὑποστÏÎψαντι εἰς ἰεÏουσαλὴμ καὶ Ï€ÏοσευχομÎνου μου á¼Î½ τῶ ἱεÏá¿¶ γενÎσθαι με á¼Î½ á¼ÎºÏƒÏ„άσει(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:17 Factum est autem revertenti mihi in Jerusalem, et oranti in templo, fieri me in stupore mentis,(vulgate) Act 22:17 Es geschah aber, da ich wieder gen Jerusalem kam und betete im Tempel, daß ich entzückt ward und sah ihn.(dhs) Act 22:17 Now it happened, when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I was in a trance(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:18 ============ Act 22:18 and I saw Him saying to me, 'Make haste, and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about Me.'(nasb) Act 22:18 καὶ ἰδεῖν αá½Ï„ὸν λÎγοντά μοι, σπεῦσον καὶ ἔξελθε á¼Î½ τάχει á¼Î¾ ἰεÏουσαλήμ, διότι οὠπαÏαδÎξονταί σου μαÏτυÏίαν πεÏá½¶ á¼Î¼Î¿á¿¦.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:18 et videre illum dicentem mihi: Festina, et exi velociter ex Jerusalem: quoniam non recipient testimonium tuum de me.(vulgate) Act 22:18 Da sprach er zu mir: Eile und mache dich behend von Jerusalem hinaus; denn sie werden nicht aufnehmen dein Zeugnis von mir.(dhs) Act 22:18 and saw Him saying to me, 'Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, for they will not receive your testimony concerning Me.'(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:19 ============ Act 22:19 "And I said, 'Lord, they themselves understand that in one synagogue after another I used to imprison and beat those who believed in You.(nasb) Act 22:19 κἀγὼ εἶπον, κÏÏιε, αá½Ï„οὶ á¼Ï€Î¯ÏƒÏ„ανται ὅτι á¼Î³á½¼ ἤμην φυλακίζων καὶ δÎÏων κατὰ τὰς συναγωγὰς τοὺς πιστεÏοντας á¼Ï€á½¶ ση(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:19 Et ego dixi: Domine, ipsi sciunt quia ego eram concludens in carcerem, et cædens per synagogas eos qui credebant in te:(vulgate) Act 22:19 Und ich sprach: HERR, sie wissen selbst, daß ich gefangen legte und stäupte die, so an dich glaubten, in den Schulen hin und her;(dhs) Act 22:19 So I said, 'Lord, they know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believe on You.(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:20 ============ Act 22:20 'And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was being shed, I also was standing by approving, and watching out for the coats of those who were slaying him.'(nasb) Act 22:20 καὶ ὅτε á¼Î¾ÎµÏ‡Ïννετο τὸ αἷμα στεφάνου τοῦ μάÏτυÏός σου, καὶ αá½Ï„ὸς ἤμην á¼Ï†ÎµÏƒÏ„ὼς καὶ συνευδοκῶν καὶ φυλάσσων τὰ ἱμάτια τῶν ἀναιÏοÏντων αá½Ï„όν.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:20 et cum funderetur sanguis Stephani testis tui, ego astabam, et consentiebam, et custodiebam vestimenta interficientium illum.(vulgate) Act 22:20 und da das Blut des Stephanus, deines Zeugen, vergossen ward, stand ich auch dabei und hatte Wohlgefallen an seinem Tode und verwahrte denen die Kleider, die ihn töteten.(dhs) Act 22:20 And when the blood of Your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by consenting to his death, and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.'(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:21 ============ Act 22:21 "And He said to me, 'Go! For I will send you far away to the Gentiles.'"(nasb) Act 22:21 καὶ εἶπεν Ï€Ïός με, ποÏεÏου, ὅτι á¼Î³á½¼ εἰς ἔθνη μακÏὰν á¼Î¾Î±Ï€Î¿ÏƒÏ„ελῶ σε.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:21 Et dixit ad me: Vade, quoniam ego in nationes longe mittam te.(vulgate) Act 22:21 Und er sprach zu mir: Gehe hin; denn ich will dich ferne unter die Heiden senden!(dhs) Act 22:21 Then He said to me, 'Depart, for I will send you far from here to the Gentiles.' Dieser Mensch ist römisch.(dhs) Act 22:26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the commander, saying, "Take care what you do, for this man is a Roman."(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:27 ============ Act 22:27 The commander came and said to him, "Tell me, are you a Roman?" And he said, "Yes."(nasb) Act 22:27 Ï€Ïοσελθὼν δὲ ὠχιλίαÏχος εἶπεν αá½Ï„á¿¶, λÎγε μοι, σὺ ῥωμαῖος εἶ; ὠδὲ ἔφη, ναί.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:27 Accedens autem tribunus, dixit illi: Dic mihi si tu Romanus es? At ille dixit: Etiam.(vulgate) Act 22:27 Da kam zu ihm der Oberhauptmann und sprach zu ihm: Sage mir, bist du römisch? Er aber sprach: Ja.(dhs) Act 22:27 Then the commander came and said to him, "Tell me, are you a Roman?" He said, "Yes."(nkjv) ======= Acts 22:28 ============ Act 22:28 The commander answered, "I acquired this citizenship with a large sum of money." And Paul said, "But I was actually born a citizen."(nasb) Act 22:28 ἀπεκÏίθη δὲ ὠχιλίαÏχος, á¼Î³á½¼ πολλοῦ κεφαλαίου τὴν πολιτείαν ταÏτην á¼ÎºÏ„ησάμην. ὠδὲ παῦλος ἔφη, á¼Î³á½¼ δὲ καὶ γεγÎννημαι.(Nestle-Aland) Act 22:28 Et respondit tribunus: Ego multa summa civilitatem hanc consecutus sum. Et Paulus ait: Ego autem et natus sum.(vulgate) Act 22:28 Und der Oberhauptmann antwortete: Ich habe dies Bürgerrecht mit großer Summe zuwege gebracht. Paulus aber sprach: Ich bin aber auch römisch geboren.(dhs) Act 22:28 The commander answered, "With a large sum I obtained this citizenship." Tribunus quoque timuit postquam rescivit, quia civis Romanus esset, et quia alligasset eum.(vulgate) Act 22:29 Da traten sie alsobald von ihm ab, die ihn befragen sollten.
