2Pe 1:1 Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2Pe 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: (kjv) 2Pe 1:1 Simon Petrus, ein Knecht und Apostel Jesu Christi, denen, die mit uns ebendenselben teuren Glauben überkommen haben in der Gerechtigkeit, die unser Gott gibt und der Heiland Jesus Christus: 2Pe 1:1 συμεὼν πέτρος δοῦλος καὶ ἀπόστολος ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ τοῖς ἰσότιμον ἡμῖν λαχοῦσιν πίστιν ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ σωτῆρος ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, (kjv) 2Pe 1:2 Gott gebe euch viel Gnade und Frieden durch die Erkenntnis Gottes und Jesu Christi, unsers HERRN! 2Pe 1:2 χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη πληθυνθείη ἐν ἐπιγνώσει τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἰησοῦ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: (kjv) 2Pe 1:3 Nachdem allerlei seiner göttlichen Kraft, was zum Leben und göttlichen Wandel dient, uns geschenkt ist durch die Erkenntnis des, der uns berufen hat durch seine Herrlichkeit und Tugend, 2Pe 1:3 ὡς πάντα ἡμῖν τῆς θείας δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ τὰ πρὸς ζωὴν καὶ εὐσέβειαν δεδωρημένης διὰ τῆς ἐπιγνώσεως τοῦ καλέσαντος ἡμᾶς ἰδίᾳ δόξῃ καὶ ἀρετῇ, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. 2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (kjv) 2Pe 1:4 durch welche uns die teuren und allergrößten Verheißungen geschenkt sind, nämlich, daß ihr dadurch teilhaftig werdet der göttlichen Natur, so ihr fliehet die vergängliche Lust der Welt; 2Pe 1:4 δι᾽ ὧν τὰ τίμια καὶ μέγιστα ἡμῖν ἐπαγγέλματα δεδώρηται, ἵνα διὰ τούτων γένησθε θείας κοινωνοὶ φύσεως, ἀποφυγόντες τῆς ἐν τῶ κόσμῳ ἐν ἐπιθυμίᾳ φθορᾶς. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 2Pe 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; (kjv) 2Pe 1:5 so wendet allen euren Fleiß daran und reichet dar in eurem Glauben Tugend und in der Tugend Erkenntnis 2Pe 1:5 καὶ αὐτὸ τοῦτο δὲ σπουδὴν πᾶσαν παρεισενέγκαντες ἐπιχορηγήσατε ἐν τῇ πίστει ὑμῶν τὴν ἀρετήν, ἐν δὲ τῇ ἀρετῇ τὴν γνῶσιν, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, 2Pe 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; (kjv) 2Pe 1:6 und in der Erkenntnis Mäßigkeit und in der Mäßigkeit Geduld und in der Geduld Gottseligkeit 2Pe 1:6 ἐν δὲ τῇ γνώσει τὴν ἐγκράτειαν, ἐν δὲ τῇ ἐγκρατείᾳ τὴν ὑπομονήν, ἐν δὲ τῇ ὑπομονῇ τὴν εὐσέβειαν, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 2Pe 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Pe 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (kjv) 2Pe 1:8 Denn wo solches reichlich bei euch ist, wird's euch nicht faul noch unfruchtbar sein lassen in der Erkenntnis unsers HERRN Jesu Christi; 2Pe 1:8 ταῦτα γὰρ ὑμῖν ὑπάρχοντα καὶ πλεονάζοντα οὐκ ἀργοὺς οὐδὲ ἀκάρπους καθίστησιν εἰς τὴν τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ ἐπίγνωσιν· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. 2Pe 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 2Pe 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: (kjv) 2Pe 1:10 Darum, liebe Brüder, tut desto mehr Fleiß, eure Berufung und Erwählung festzumachen; denn wo ihr solches tut, werdet ihr nicht straucheln, 2Pe 1:10 διὸ μᾶλλον, ἀδελφοί, σπουδάσατε βεβαίαν ὑμῶν τὴν κλῆσιν καὶ ἐκλογὴν ποιεῖσθαι· ταῦτα γὰρ ποιοῦντες οὐ μὴ πταίσητέ ποτε· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. 2Pe 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 2Pe 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:13 I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, 2Pe 1:13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; (kjv) 2Pe 1:13 Ich achte es für billig, solange ich in dieser Hütte bin, euch zu erinnern und zu erwecken; 2Pe 1:13 δίκαιον δὲ ἡγοῦμαι, ἐφ᾽ ὅσον εἰμὶ ἐν τούτῳ τῶ σκηνώματι, διεγείρειν ὑμᾶς ἐν ὑπομνήσει, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:14 knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 2Pe 1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 2Pe 1:14 εἰδὼς ὅτι ταχινή ἐστιν ἡ ἀπόθεσις τοῦ σκηνώματός μου, καθὼς καὶ ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν ἰησοῦς χριστὸς ἐδήλωσέν μοι· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:15 And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind. 2Pe 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:16 For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2Pe 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:17 For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased"-- 2Pe 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (kjv) 2Pe 1:17 da er empfing von Gott, dem Vater, Ehre und Preis durch eine Stimme, die zu ihm geschah von der großen Herrlichkeit: "Dies ist mein lieber Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe." 2Pe 1:17 λαβὼν γὰρ παρὰ θεοῦ πατρὸς τιμὴν καὶ δόξαν φωνῆς ἐνεχθείσης αὐτῶ τοιᾶσδε ὑπὸ τῆς μεγαλοπρεποῦς δόξης, ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ἀγαπητός μου οὖτός ἐστιν, εἰς ὃν ἐγὼ εὐδόκησα _ ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:18 and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 2Pe 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:19 So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: (kjv) 2Pe 1:19 Und wir haben desto fester das prophetische Wort, und ihr tut wohl, daß ihr darauf achtet als auf ein Licht, das da scheint in einem dunklen Ort, bis der Tag anbreche und der Morgenstern aufgehe in euren Herzen. 2Pe 1:19 καὶ ἔχομεν βεβαιότερον τὸν προφητικὸν λόγον, ᾧ καλῶς ποιεῖτε προσέχοντες ὡς λύχνῳ φαίνοντι ἐν αὐχμηρῶ τόπῳ, ἕως οὖ ἡμέρα διαυγάσῃ καὶ φωσφόρος ἀνατείλῃ ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 2Pe 1:20 τοῦτο πρῶτον γινώσκοντες, ὅτι πᾶσα προφητεία γραφῆς ἰδίας ἐπιλύσεως οὐ γίνεται· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 1:21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. 2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.(kjv) 2Pe 1:21 Denn es ist noch nie eine Weissagung aus menschlichem Willen hervorgebracht; sondern die heiligen Menschen Gottes haben geredet, getrieben von dem heiligen Geist. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 2Pe 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 2Pe 2:2 καὶ πολλοὶ ἐξακολουθήσουσιν αὐτῶν ταῖς ἀσελγείαις, δι᾽ οὓς ἡ ὁδὸς τῆς ἀληθείας βλασφημηθήσεται· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. 2Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; 2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; (kjv) 2Pe 2:4 Denn Gott hat die Engel, die gesündigt haben, nicht verschont, sondern hat sie mit Ketten der Finsternis zur Hölle verstoßen und übergeben, daß sie zum Gericht behalten werden; 2Pe 2:4 εἰ γὰρ ὁ θεὸς ἀγγέλων ἁμαρτησάντων οὐκ ἐφείσατο, ἀλλὰ σειραῖς ζόφου ταρταρώσας παρέδωκεν εἰς κρίσιν τηρουμένους, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; (kjv) 2Pe 2:5 und hat nicht verschont die vorige Welt, sondern bewahrte Noah, den Prediger der Gerechtigkeit, selbacht und führte die Sintflut über die Welt der Gottlosen; 2Pe 2:5 καὶ ἀρχαίου κόσμου οὐκ ἐφείσατο, ἀλλὰ ὄγδοον νῶε δικαιοσύνης κήρυκα ἐφύλαξεν, κατακλυσμὸν κόσμῳ ἀσεβῶν ἐπάξας, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter; 2Pe 2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; (kjv) 2Pe 2:6 und hat die Städte Sodom und Gomorra zu Asche gemacht, umgekehrt und verdammt, damit ein Beispiel gesetzt den Gottlosen, die hernach kommen würden; 2Pe 2:6 καὶ πόλεις σοδόμων καὶ γομόρρας τεφρώσας [καταστροφῇ] κατέκρινεν, ὑπόδειγμα μελλόντων ἀσεβέ[ς]ιν τεθεικώς, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men 2Pe 2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (kjv) 2Pe 2:7 und hat erlöst den gerechten Lot, welchem die schändlichen Leute alles Leid taten mit ihrem unzüchtigen Wandel; 2Pe 2:7 καὶ δίκαιον λὼτ καταπονούμενον ὑπὸ τῆς τῶν ἀθέσμων ἐν ἀσελγείᾳ ἀναστροφῆς ἐρρύσατο· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), 2Pe 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) (kjv) 2Pe 2:8 denn dieweil er gerecht war und unter ihnen wohnte, daß er's sehen und hören mußte, quälten sie die gerechte Seele von Tag zu Tage mit ihren ungerechten Werken. 2Pe 2:8 βλέμματι γὰρ καὶ ἀκοῇ ὁ δίκαιος ἐγκατοικῶν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας ψυχὴν δικαίαν ἀνόμοις ἔργοις ἐβασάνιζεν· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 2Pe 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: (kjv) 2Pe 2:9 Der HERR weiß die Gottseligen aus der Versuchung zu erlösen, die Ungerechten aber zu behalten zum Tage des Gerichts, sie zu peinigen, 2Pe 2:9 οἶδεν κύριος εὐσεβεῖς ἐκ πειρασμοῦ ῥύεσθαι, ἀδίκους δὲ εἰς ἡμέραν κρίσεως κολαζομένους τηρεῖν, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:10 and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties, 2Pe 2:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. (kjv) 2Pe 2:10 allermeist aber die, so da wandeln nach dem Fleisch in der unreinen Lust, und die Herrschaft verachten, frech, eigensinnig, nicht erzittern, die Majestäten zu lästern, 2Pe 2:10 μάλιστα δὲ τοὺς ὀπίσω σαρκὸς ἐν ἐπιθυμίᾳ μιασμοῦ πορευομένους καὶ κυριότητος καταφρονοῦντας. τολμηταί, αὐθάδεις, δόξας οὐ τρέμουσιν βλασφημοῦντες, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:11 whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord. 2Pe 2:11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. (kjv) 2Pe 2:11 so doch die Engel, die größere Stärke und Macht haben, kein lästerlich Urteil wider sie fällen vor dem HERRN. 2Pe 2:11 ὅπου ἄγγελοι ἰσχύϊ καὶ δυνάμει μείζονες ὄντες οὐ φέρουσιν κατ᾽ αὐτῶν παρὰ κυρίου βλάσφημον κρίσιν. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:12 But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed, 2Pe 2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; (kjv) 2Pe 2:12 Aber sie sind wie die unvernünftigen Tiere, die von Natur dazu geboren sind, daß sie gefangen und geschlachtet werden, lästern, davon sie nichts wissen, und werden in ihrem verderblichen Wissen umkommen 2Pe 2:12 οὖτοι δέ, ὡς ἄλογα ζῶα γεγεννημένα φυσικὰ εἰς ἅλωσιν καὶ φθοράν, ἐν οἷς ἀγνοοῦσιν βλασφημοῦντες, ἐν τῇ φθορᾷ αὐτῶν καὶ φθαρήσονται, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:13 suffering wrong as the wages of doing wrong. They count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are stains and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions, as they carouse with you, 2Pe 2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; (kjv) 2Pe 2:13 und den Lohn der Ungerechtigkeit davonbringen. Sie achten für Wollust das zeitliche Wohlleben, sie sind Schandflecken und Laster, prangen von euren Almosen, prassen mit dem Euren, 2Pe 2:13 ἀδικούμενοι μισθὸν ἀδικίας· ἡδονὴν ἡγούμενοι τὴν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τρυφήν, σπίλοι καὶ μῶμοι ἐντρυφῶντες ἐν ταῖς ἀπάταις αὐτῶν συνευωχούμενοι ὑμῖν, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:14 having eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children; 2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: (kjv) 2Pe 2:14 haben Augen voll Ehebruchs, lassen sich die Sünde nicht wehren, locken an sich die leichtfertigen Seelen, haben ein Herz, durchtrieben mit Geiz, verfluchte Leute. 2Pe 2:14 ὀφθαλμοὺς ἔχοντες μεστοὺς μοιχαλίδος καὶ ἀκαταπαύστους ἁμαρτίας, δελεάζοντες ψυχὰς ἀστηρίκτους, καρδίαν γεγυμνασμένην πλεονεξίας ἔχοντες, κατάρας τέκνα, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:15 forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 2Pe 2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; (kjv) 2Pe 2:15 Sie haben verlassen den richtigen Weg und gehen irre und folgen nach dem Wege Bileams, des Sohnes Beors, welcher liebte den Lohn der Ungerechtigkeit, 2Pe 2:15 καταλείποντες εὐθεῖαν ὁδὸν ἐπλανήθησαν, ἐξακολουθήσαντες τῇ ὁδῶ τοῦ βαλαὰμ τοῦ βοσόρ, ὃς μισθὸν ἀδικίας ἠγάπησεν ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:16 but he received a rebuke for his own transgression, for a mute donkey, speaking with a voice of a man, restrained the madness of the prophet. 2Pe 2:16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:17 These are springs without water and mists driven by a storm, for whom the black darkness has been reserved. 2Pe 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:18 For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, 2Pe 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. (kjv) 2Pe 2:18 Denn sie reden stolze Worte, dahinter nichts ist, und reizen durch Unzucht zur fleischlichen Lust diejenigen, die recht entronnen waren denen, die im Irrtum wandeln, 2Pe 2:18 ὑπέρογκα γὰρ ματαιότητος φθεγγόμενοι δελεάζουσιν ἐν ἐπιθυμίαις σαρκὸς ἀσελγείαις τοὺς ὀλίγως ἀποφεύγοντας τοὺς ἐν πλάνῃ ἀναστρεφομένους, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:19 promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved. 2Pe 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. 2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 2:22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb, "A DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT," and, "A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire." 2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.(kjv) 2Pe 2:22 Es ist ihnen widerfahren das wahre Sprichwort: "Der Hund frißt wieder, was er gespieen hat;" und: "Die Sau wälzt sich nach der Schwemme wieder im Kot." 2Pe 2:22 συμβέβηκεν αὐτοῖς τὸ τῆς ἀληθοῦς παροιμίας, κύων ἐπιστρέψας ἐπὶ τὸ ἴδιον ἐξέραμα, καί, ὖς λουσαμένη εἰς κυλισμὸν βορβόρου. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:1 This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2Pe 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: (kjv) 2Pe 3:1 Dies ist der zweite Brief, den ich euch schreibe, ihr Lieben, in welchem ich euch erinnere und erwecke euren lautern Sinn, 2Pe 3:1 ταύτην ἤδη, ἀγαπητοί, δευτέραν ὑμῖν γράφω ἐπιστολήν, ἐν αἷς διεγείρω ὑμῶν ἐν ὑπομνήσει τὴν εἰλικρινῆ διάνοιαν, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. 2Pe 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: (kjv) 2Pe 3:2 daß ihr gedenket an die Worte, die euch zuvor gesagt sind von den heiligen Propheten, und an unser Gebot, die wir sind Apostel des HERRN und Heilandes. 2Pe 3:2 μνησθῆναι τῶν προειρημένων ῥημάτων ὑπὸ τῶν ἁγίων προφητῶν καὶ τῆς τῶν ἀποστόλων ὑμῶν ἐντολῆς τοῦ κυρίου καὶ σωτῆρος· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 2Pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, (kjv) 2Pe 3:3 Und wisset aufs erste, daß in den letzten Tagen kommen werden Spötter, die nach ihren eigenen Lüsten wandeln 2Pe 3:3 τοῦτο πρῶτον γινώσκοντες, ὅτι ἐλεύσονται ἐπ᾽ ἐσχάτων τῶν ἡμερῶν [ἐν] ἐμπαιγμονῇ ἐμπαῖκται κατὰ τὰς ἰδίας ἐπιθυμίας αὐτῶν πορευόμενοι ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation." 2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 2Pe 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: (kjv) 2Pe 3:5 Aber aus Mutwillen wollen sie nicht wissen, daß der Himmel vorzeiten auch war, dazu die Erde aus Wasser, und im Wasser bestanden durch Gottes Wort; 2Pe 3:5 λανθάνει γὰρ αὐτοὺς τοῦτο θέλοντας, ὅτι οὐρανοὶ ἦσαν ἔκπαλαι καὶ γῆ ἐξ ὕδατος καὶ δι᾽ ὕδατος συνεστῶσα τῶ τοῦ θεοῦ λόγῳ, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. 2Pe 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: (kjv) 2Pe 3:6 dennoch ward zu der Zeit die Welt durch die dieselben mit der Sintflut verderbt. 2Pe 3:6 δι᾽ ὧν ὁ τότε κόσμος ὕδατι κατακλυσθεὶς ἀπώλετο· ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. 2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 2Pe 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, (kjv) 2Pe 3:11 So nun das alles soll zergehen, wie sollt ihr denn geschickt sein mit heiligem Wandel und gottseligem Wesen, 2Pe 3:11 τούτων οὕτως πάντων λυομένων ποταποὺς δεῖ ὑπάρχειν [ὑμᾶς] ἐν ἁγίαις ἀναστροφαῖς καὶ εὐσεβείαις, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. 2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, 2Pe 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. (kjv) 2Pe 3:14 Darum, meine Lieben, dieweil ihr darauf warten sollt, so tut Fleiß, daß ihr vor ihm unbefleckt und unsträflich im Frieden erfunden werdet; 2Pe 3:14 διό, ἀγαπητοί, ταῦτα προσδοκῶντες σπουδάσατε ἄσπιλοι καὶ ἀμώμητοι αὐτῶ εὑρεθῆναι ἐν εἰρήνῃ, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 2Pe 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; (kjv) 2Pe 3:15 und die Geduld unsers HERRN achtet für eure Seligkeit, wie auch unser lieber Bruder Paulus nach der Weisheit, die ihm gegeben ist, euch geschrieben hat, 2Pe 3:15 καὶ τὴν τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν μακροθυμίαν σωτηρίαν ἡγεῖσθε, καθὼς καὶ ὁ ἀγαπητὸς ἡμῶν ἀδελφὸς παῦλος κατὰ τὴν δοθεῖσαν αὐτῶ σοφίαν ἔγραψεν ὑμῖν, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, 2Pe 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 2Pe 3:17 ὑμεῖς οὗν, ἀγαπητοί, προγινώσκοντες φυλάσσεσθε ἵνα μὴ τῇ τῶν ἀθέσμων πλάνῃ συναπαχθέντες ἐκπέσητε τοῦ ἰδίου στηριγμοῦ, ------------------------------------------------------ 2Pe 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. ------------------------------------------------------
