Thu Oct 16 12:46:57 2008 A good friend forwarded the email below from Huntley Brown. I verified it as TRUE on snopes.com, you can see Huntley Brown's response to the inquiry on snopes (included below the forwarded email) at: http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/huntleybrown.asp Huntley's response on snopes adds to his original email, especially regarding the explotation of black women and abortion. I don't know Mr. Brown, but his words echo the same as many of my Christian friends, regardless of their heritage, color or race. Pray for Mr. Brown, it seems that he is receiving "hate mail" because of his sincere and thoughtful words; words clearly from a sincere follower of Christ. The idea of sending "hate mail" to someone who holds a differing view is just wrong. I have some ideas on why the liberal mindset allows this, but I don't have time to go into the theory of cognitive dissonance, google it... Mr. Brown's message is clear, it's not about race or politics, but should be about following Jesus. His comments about Barack Hussein Obama's mentorship under a racist, controversial leader of a church that does not follow Biblical principles are very valid. The church he was a member of for twenty years is one that has had associations with many radical and anti-America organizations. Hate filled types pretty much across the board. Combine Chicago politics to this mindset and you have what may be a very beautiful looking piece of deception and corruption. General info on the church can be seen on wikipedia, with links to the actual church and other sources to verify... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinity_United_Church_of_Christ The Trinity United Church "statement about" is: "We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community." They have a link on that page to the "Black Value System": http://www.trinitychicago.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=114 Imagine a white church or someone like Bush making a statement like that. :) The media would be frothing at the mouth, protests would be loud and widespread... and rightly so... I really like the way Huntley Brown makes this comparison. The list of belief items at TUCC does not reference the "Great Commission" of Jesus Christ, walking in the spirit, reaching out to the lost or anything closely related to the New Testament Church. The first item on their list is a "commitment to God", not Jesus Christ, who should be noted as their Lord and Saviour, but a generic title of "God": "Commitment to God. "The God of our weary years" will give us the strength to give up prayerful passivism and become Black Christian Activists, soldiers for Black freedom and the dignity of all humankind." I don't know about you, but I've read through the Bible a few times and don't recall seeing anything about this sort of thing there. "Weary years?" I'm not black so I can't relate, have a feeling they're making reference to the evils of slavery that happened before all of us were born. Racism is wrong, regardless if it's from black or white. Continuing to be or claim "victim" status for historical wrongs just doesn't seem a proper thing to do. We shouldn't forget the wrongs done in the past so we don't repeat the same mistakes, but building a belief system on the past seems somewhat flawed to me, and a bit extreme. It seems to play up the "victim" role in order to win an argument or to be used as a defense or cover for something else. Either way it's not progressive, and certainly not Biblical. I have attended a multi-cultural church since January 1986. The senior pastor is black and from the south. We're about the same age and very much recall the events of the 1960s. His experience and memories are vastly different than mine, a white kid from an affluent white suburb of Chicago. Yet we embrace the same Jesus, the same Bible and the same beliefs today. We don't dwell on the past wrongs of those before us, but rather on the Living Word of God and moving forward. We don't harbor hate from what happened in the past, and we both agree it was a horrible injustice. Nothing we can do about it now, except to follow Christ and do what is right right. Redistributing wealth, taxing the prosperous, killing babies or old people, allowing sexual immorality whether hetero or homosexual is simply not Biblical or morally correct and certainly won't undo past wrongs. Compare the TUCC page to one from a non-denominational, multi-cultural Bible teaching church lead by both black and white Christians: http://www.abchurch.org/about-antioch/welcome.html - a church for all people, of all cultures, races, backgrounds. - a church where diversity of worship styles is the norm. - a church where God's Word, the Bible, is the authority. - a church where every member is a minister. - a church which aims to transform the entire community. - a church where people are first, programs are second, and facilities are third. - a church in which your preconceived ideas of what a church is all about may be challenged! Nothing in there about the "father land", any race wars, social activity... pictures of the believers are of all races, colors and ethnic origins... as it should be... and it's easy to find the link about the doctrinal views: http://www.abchurch.org/what-we-believe/doctrinal-statement.html I can not find a doctrinal statement like this on TUCC, only the African-Centered Black ideals list, intermingled with a few verses from the Bible. I suspect if I wandered into this church I would NOT be welcomed. Looking through the pictures I don't see a mix of believers... it's all one color, one race... absolutely not what the Church of Christ should be. It's also interesting to note that 6 of the 7 folks listed on TUCC's pastoral staff are women... and all, of course, are black... The Apostle Paul and the New Testament was quite clear on the model for leadership of Christ's Church. Women are respected but are not to hold positions of leadership. Paul explains that this is the model that was chosen by Christ and does not indicate that women are inferior, they are not. But Christ chose a model of leadership that places man at the head of the home and the church. Christ also noted that there is a hierachy in the God Head: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit... Our creator is a God of order and structure. This further reveals the disregard that Barack Hussein Obama's church of twenty years has for the Word of God. Getting back to the letter, Huntley Brown is not for either candidate, but his comment about McCain parallels what I've been saying; that McCain is the lesser of two evils. We're not a Christian nation, we are a Constitutional Republic that happens to have been founded by sincere God-fearing Christians a couple hundred years ago. We are a secular nation in fact. We are not Israel, nor are we the church. And it's apparent that America has lost its moral compass. I can not find America in Biblical prophecy and believe that our country is headed toward "irrelevancy", meaning that some how or another we will no longer be the leader of the free world. Israel will be the focus of future events related to Biblical prophecy. If you can find a reference to America in scripture, please share. I have only found what may be a vague reference in Ezekiel 38 and 39. Brown's words: "I have problems with both candidates, but the differences I have with Senator Mccain are pale in comparison with the ones I have with Senator Obama." As Mr. Brown points out, we need to pray for our leaders, even if we don't agree with them or like them. His observation about why we get leaders like this is interesting, as these types of leaders were often sent as judgment to the nation of Israel. We are not Israel, but the principle and idea is still likely valid. The words of Martin Luther King are quite relevant as quoted by Mr. Brown. It is about character, not economic policies or popularity. A person with a right heart and a right mind will listen to the wisdom of others and follow a righteous path that will succeed. In regard to some of the comments heard in last night's debate, I googled "liberal senator" and found the following links for your research: "Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal's 27th annual vote ratings. " http://nj.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/ http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/01/31/politics/horserace/entry3775451.shtml http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/01/31/obama-ranked-most-liberal-senator-in-2007/ http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/26/1455344.aspx http://conservativepolitics.today.com/2008/01/31/senator-barak-obama-ranked-nations-most-liberal-senator/ There are a number of blog items out there... reading the comments by supporters of "liberal" ideaology and hussein obama one can find some interesting twists to the argument, like that he was "only" the most 16th liberal senator in 2005, and the 10th in 2006... others making comments about "liberal is good"... I try to avoid blogs... don't have time to find other sources... will leave that to you... if you have any remaining energy for such... one interesting article popped up though: http://newsmax.com/insidecover/obama_intelligence_danger/2008/10/16/141080.html Personally, I disagree with the current ideology of the Democratic party. As the pope was reported to say, they are the "party of death". Their moral views are contrary to Scripture. Their economic policies are based on "liberation theology", or a redistribution of wealth. They are anti-capitalistic in most of their views and seek to penalize the "greedy" rich. They reward those who do not labor in order to help those who are in need. Liberals and Democrats may mean well, but they have a flawed world view, they are missing the "big picture". I'm not a big fan of McCain, especially his liberal views on the "junk science" ideas of global warming. We won't go down that path right now. :) The last few elections it has simply been chosing the lesser of two evils... like I said, America is headed toward irrelevancy... May our decline into irrelevancy be without a great deal of hardship... I'm hoping that our faithfulness to missions and our assistance to so many countries seeking liberty over the years will allow us a gentle demise. We have acted foolishly as a nation. Our trust needs to be placed in Jesus Christ, not a candidate or a party... In my opinion the lesser of two evils is not the liberals or the democratic party... and voting independent is like voting for the democrats... a vote for Perot was really a vote for Clinton... :( The future is not bright for our country, and the only hope with have is in Jesus Christ... thanx for sharing Greg... and thanx Bruce for pointing out the inaccurate info of a previous email... researched this one... :) bottom line... based on the analysis of barack hussein obama's church association, and his liberal voting record, he is clearly not the candidate that offers the best hope for America... in my world view, no one associating with the Democratic party of today does... there is right and wrong, and a Creator God that will judge us as nations and individuals. Machiavellism is a philosophical view that appears to be adhered to by many liberals, muslims and apparently Democrats... (Machiavellism has historically come to mean that effectiveness alone counts in politics; political actions should not be restricted by considerations of morality, of good or evil. http://etext.virginia.edu/cgi-local/DHI/dhi.cgi?id=dv3-15 ) john ----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://gunbanobama.com/ http://freegift.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Greg This article is from Huntley Brown. He is a fabulous concert pianist, man of God and is a black man. I appreciate so much his reasoning for not voting for Obama. I would like to see this article published or spread out via Email to as many as possible. It's good stuff! --------------------------------------- Why I Can't Vote For Obama By Huntley Brown Dear Friends, A few months ago I was asked for my perspective on Obama, I sent out an email with a few points. With the election just around the corner I decided to complete my perspective. Those of you on my e-list have seen some of this before but it's worth repeating... First I must say whoever wins the election will have my prayer support. Obama needs to be commended for his accomplishments but I need to explain why I will not be voting for him. Many of my friends process their identity thro ugh their blackness. I process my identity through Christ. Being a Christian (a Christ follower) means He leads, I follow. I can't dictate the terms, He does because He is the leader. I can't vote black because I am black; I have to vote Christian because that's who I am. Christian first, black second. Neither should anyone from other ethnic groups vote because of ethnicity. 200 years from now I won't be asked if I was black or white. I will be asked if I knew Jesus and accepted Him as Lord and Savior. In an election there are many issues to consider but when a society gets abortion, same-sex marriage, embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning - to name a few, then wrong economic concerns will soon not matter. We need to follow Martin Luther King's words, 'don't judge someone by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.' I don't know Obama, so all I can go on is his voting record. His voting record earned him the title of the most liberal senator in the US Senate in 2007. NATIONAL JOURNAL: Obama: Most Liberal Senator in 2007 (01/31/2008) To beat Ted Kennedy and Hilary Clinton as the most liberal senator, takes some doing. Obama accomplished this feat in 2 short years. I wonder what would happen to America if he had four years to work with. There is a reason Planned Parenthood gives him a 100 % rating. There is a reason the homosexual community supports him. There is a reason Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Castro, Hamas etc. love him. There is a reason he said he would nominate liberal judges to the Supreme Court. There is a reason he voted against the infanticide bill. There is a reason he voted 'No' on the constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. There is a reason he voted 'No' on banning partial birth abortion. There is a reason he voted 'No' on confirming Justices Roberts and Alito. These two judg es are conservatives and they have since overturned partial birth abortion. The same practice Obama wanted to continue. Let's take a look at the practice he wanted to continue. The 5 Step Partial Birth Abortion procedures: A. Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby's leg with forceps. (Remember this is a live baby) B. The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal. C. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head. D. The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole. E. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed. God help him. There is a reason Obama opposed the parental notification law. Think about this: You can' not give a child an aspirin without parental notification but that same child can have an abortion without parental notification. This is insane. There is a reason Obama went to Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years. Obama tells us he has good judgment, but he sat under Jeremiah Wright's teaching for 20 years. Now he is condemning Wright's sermons. I wonder why now? Obama said Jeremiah Wright led him to the Lord and discipled him. A disciple is one in training. Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19 - 20 'Go and make disciples of all nations.' This means reproduce yourself. Teach people to think like you, walk like you; talk like you believe what you believe etc. The question I have is what did Jeremiah Wright teach him? Would you support a White President who went to a church which has tenets that said they have a: 1. Commitment to the White Community 2. Commitment to the White Family 3. Adherence to the White Work Ethic 4. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community. 5. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions 6. Pledge allegiance to all White leadership who espouse and embrace the White Value System 7. Personal commitment to embracement of the White Value System. Would you support a President who went to a church like that? Just change the word from white to black and you have the tenets of Obama's former church. If President Bush was a member of a church like this, he would be called a racist. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would have been m arching outside. This kind of church is a racist church. Obama did not wake up after 20 years and just discover he'd been going to a racist church. The TRUE church can't be about race. Jesus did not come for any particular race. He came for the whole world. A church can't have a value system based on race. The churches value system has to be based on biblical mandates. It does not matter if it's a white church or a black church based on racial values, it's still wrong. Anyone from either race that attends a church like this would never get my vote. Obama's former Pastor Jeremiah Wright is a disciple of liberal theologian James Cone, author of the 1970 book 'the goals of the black community'. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. Cone is the man Obama's mentor looks up to. Does Obama believe this? So what does all this mean for the nation? In the past when the Lord brought someone with the beliefs of Obama to lead a nation it meant one thing - judgment. Read 1 Samuel 8 when Israel asked for a king. First God says in 1 Samuel 1:9 'Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.' Then God says 1 Samuel 1:18 ' When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.' 19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. 'No!' they said. 'We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.' 21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. 22 The LORD answered, 'Listen to them and give them a king.' Here is what we know for sure. God is not schizophrenic He would not tell one person to vote for Obam a and one to vote for McCain. As the scripture says, a city divided against itself cannot stand, so obviously many people are not hearing from God. Maybe I am the one not hearing but I know God does not change and Obama contradicts many things I read in scripture so I doubt it. For all my friends who are voting for Obama can you really look God in the face and say; Father ,based on your word, I am voting for Obama even though I know he will continue the genocidal practice of partial birth abortion. He might have to nominate three or four Supreme Court justices, and I am sure he will be nominating liberal judges who will be making laws that are against you. I also know he will continue to push for homosexual rights, even though you destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this. I know I can look the other way because of the economy. I could not see Jesus agreeing with many of Obama's positions. Finally I have two questions for all my liberal friends. Since we know someone's value system has to be placed on the nation, 1. Whose value system should be placed on the nation. 2. Who should determine that this is the right value system for the nation? Blessings, Huntley Brown To visit Huntley's website or to sample his music, go to http://www.huntleybrown.com/ -------------------- Brown's response from snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/huntleybrown.asp Yes, I wrote this e-mail. I was responding to my friends who asked me to vote for Senator Obama because he is black. It was not my intention to send it around the world. I did not post this e-mail or send out any pictures attached. I wish they had not done that. My friends did not ask me to vote for Senator Mccain which explains why my e-mail was geared towards Senator Obama. My e-mail was not meant to influence public opinion in any way, but simply to share with my friends my views on why I could not vote for Senator Obama. I have problems with both candidates, but the differences I have with Senator Mccain are pale in comparison with the ones I have with Senator Obama For the record, I am not a politician. I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I am a Christian independent who just loves the Lord. If Senator Obama wins he can count on my prayer support every day. I tell my friends it's like a family where you have different opinions, but you love each other just the same. I love and appreciate Senator Obama but our views are diametrically opposed. If I knew my e-mail would have generated this much interest on a national level, I would have left out a few points. I don't want people to think I am against gay people or against people who have had abortions. (I am not) We are all sinners saved by grace but we need to have some absolute laws to govern society or else we will self destruct. What has really bothered me is our beautiful black women constitute only 6% of the population, yet they comprise 36% of the abortion industry's clientele. Obama has done nothing to stop this. Most people don't know that the leading abortion providers have chosen to exploit us blacks by locating 94% of their abortuaries in urban neighborhoods with high black populations. Obama has done nothing to stop this? To be honest I can't wait to vote for the first black President but it has to be a person who shares the values I read in the Bible. Thanks for checking to make sure my e-mail is legit it is. The sad part is I have been getting hate mail and my family is being harassed. As you can imagine not everyone is happy with my e-mail. God bless you richly. ------------------------------------------
