Last night I was doing a little tuning on the Wagoneer (see related question in other post) and I didn't quite get the carb idle right. So this morning driving to work I noticed that it was rough when still cold. Having a screwdriver handy I whip into a convent parking lot to execute the adjustment. Now here I am with the hood up, adjusting the carb when a guy in a truck(non FSJ) pulls up. I assume he thinks that I have car trouble and is going to give me a hand. "Just doing a little tuning" I tell him. "Is your name Jeff?" he asks. This I find strange since I have never seen this guy before! Turns out to be Tony Hanson of TX/OK IFSJ regional director fame. You never know where one of you guys will show up! Tony, it's good to put a face with a name. See ya around. Jeff Herbst 1982 Wagoneer LTD Texas[Back to Top]

Thanks to all of those helpful FSJ folks who offered suggestions how to cure the Ford electronic module starting problem on the USS GW. Some of you saw later edited versions of the original message and responded. What a great group! The problem was fixed in the original post by replacing the Ford brain unit under the hood. (Side Note, we have talked GM and Ford, who wants to talk about some REAL Motors?? Let's see some Pentastar Passion on this list! Anybody want to talk REAL mills? Let's talk Chrysler.) As for the fiche I have parts manuals on fiche for all jeeps from 74-80. Then I have 4 out of 6 fiche for 81-86. The last set is 91-93. Anybody that needs a number for their favorite part I can try to find it for you. Until the next dimension Admiral "Coluch." Used clear 6mil plastic sheeting to cover the large holes and left the bottom of the lower large hole free. Stayed very dry and I still have access to the inside of my door without removing anything. << It's was amazing to me how much water leaking from behind the door panels contributed to the water under my carpet. Anybody else contemplating sealing behind the door panels: If you just tape/seal up the inspection holes somehow, consider like John did that water can become trapped between the tape/plastic at the bottom of the holes. It'll either leak in slowly or rust out the inner door skin. Jeep made no attempt to seal the holes. Instead they allowed the water to drip through them and then relied on the paper backed rubber sheet to redirect the water back into the door (and out the drain holes) through the louvers at the bottom of the door. Unfortunately, the paper backed rubber sheet disintegrates with age and is often not reinstalled. It's pretty much a single use deal. -- Michael Baxter, 74172.1164-at-Compuserve.com http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/MBaxter From Reno, NV USA on 21-May-1997 at 07:49:08 PDT !^NavFont01F000DMGkHGtMH]HJA1DC0C[Back to Top]
