My first pickup bed trailer was purchased from my father-in-law in South Dakota circa 1977. It was a Studebaker box. I did a spring under conversion and built it to haul my motorcycle... enclosed. Later I built several others myself. But then I saw a J10 box on a handbuilt frame and decided I had to have a J10 trailer. Chris W. from Maltby, WA and one of the early FSJ list members had this J10 just sitting... the rest, as they say, is history...

August 10, 2004 - Snohomish, Washington

This trailer started out as a '75 J10, one of the early FSJ list members owned it and after engine troubles gave up on it for a variety of other Jeep projects in early 2004. As of October 2008, I'm eager to install a trailer hitch on my Jeep trailer so I can attach my barrel lift for moving WVO. The trailer has become a valuable tool moving dirt, gravel, WVO, car parts, building materials and even furniture and appliances. It has proven to be very versatile and earns lots of kudos from other gearheads. Back in 2004, I started the process, but my friend Curtis finished it... he put wings to my dreams... :) I did the first two steps: Step one, obtain (preferably non-running J10). Step two, cut in half:

Seeing as how this '75 J10 had a Dana 44 rear axle, and SuperDawg, my '83 J10 Stepside "only" had an AMC Model 20... we did a little swap... Curtis swapped and gutted the axle, and welded up the tongue... The trailer pushed the "superdawg project" back a bit... long enough for me to find a 6.2L Diesel for it, but I digress... The J10 trailer boasts: - having started life as a '75 J10 longbed pickup... - hydraulic surge disk brakes using J10 rotors and calipers - model 20 ringless rear axle with front hub assy's to hold disc brakes - on board hydraulic pump - on board battery for aux lights and hydraulic pump - Rancho 5000 shocks - dual hydraulic cylinders - bed powers up and down, locks in any position - tool box (locks up the controls) - bed raises to approximately 40 degrees - removeable canopy - long tongue for easy backing and super smooth highway towing - 100% bed lined, under, sides, insides... all around... - estimated weight empty around 1,100 lbs (will be tested one of these days) - with some modifications this could be moved to another J10 frame if this frame fails - extensive use of existing frame mounting points and wiring. - an auxillary bed mounted fuel tank to be setup as a portable lawnmower gas station LEFT TO BE DONE: - front mounted spare - finish painting the JEEP letters - installing adequate side lights and reflectors - setting up the aux fuel tank as a rolling gas station - devising quick release for the canopy - building a slip in box with dump gate for gravel and topsoil distribution - remote wiring to control box from driver's seat - wiring on tow rig to charge battery - wiring on tow rig for backup lights & brake lockout - on board trickle battery charger - perhaps locate slide in camper setup for the next FSJ or Ouray gathering... What started out as, "you know it would be cool if..." Turned out to be what is now in my driveway. :) I can hardly wait for SuperDawg to roll out... :)

misc pictures from the project
Curtis showing off his handiwork in his shop...

j10-trailer-1.jpg - john meister - 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

j10-trailer-5.jpg - john meister - 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

john meister - August 9, 2004 - FotoMeister@comcast.net

All the pix here at: ALL.html
superdawg as of Aug 10, 2004
SuperDawg is getting a 6.2L Diesel... Believe, confess, you're in. Sealed for eternity by the BLOOD of the LAMB!
Verse 10 explains that with the heart a person believes - resulting in righteousness,
and with the mouth confess Jesus as Lord, resulting in Salvation!

That's it.

Galatians 5:3 says that we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.

Ephesians 1:13 says: ...after listening to the message of truth,
the gospel of your salvation-having also believed, you were sealed in Him
with the Holy Spirit of promise.

Ephesians 2:8 - It's by grace through Faith, NOT of ourselves... it's a GIFT!!! No actions or works...
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 not as a result of works, that no one should boast.

Romans 5:8-9 - while we were yet sinners... we are justified by His blood, SAVED from wrath...
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

So, let me make one more thing perfectly clear.
You don't need to be baptized to be saved.
You don't need to do good works to be saved.
You don't need to go to church or the mission field to be saved.

But if you love Him who first Loved us, you'll do those things! Those things are expected of
those that love the Lord. But those things do not save us, redeem us or make us righteous.
Our works should be there, the book of James points out that faith without works is dead.

But please don't spread a false gospel and tell me or others that if they aren't baptized or
if they don't speak in tongues, or don't do works that they won't be saved... because
that is minimizing the amazing grace of our Lord and the blood of His precious Son!

And if you think you can lose your salvation, please see Ephesians 1:13 and 4:30 again, and
then ask, "what part of sealed unto the day of redemption" don't you understand? Examine
Romans 8 and see what can separate us from the love of God... nothing... Once saved, always saved.
Now live like it... don't bring shame upon the name of Jesus Christ. We're sinners and we're
going to sin, see I John 1:9...

Remember to Walk in the Spirit (see Galatians 5:13-26, Ephesians 5:15-32 and I Thessalonians 5:14-24).

It's a spiritual battle... prepare yourself, see Ephesians 6:10-18...

The just shall live by Faith!

=============================================================
The just shall live by Faith...
Der Gerechte wird aus Glauben leben...
Mas El Justo vivira Por Fe...
Le Juste vivra par la foi...

Habakkuk 2:4b, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38

=============================================================

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.
