INTRODUCTION
One year from the time I'm writing this, the Ouray 2002 Full Size
Jeep Invasion will be winding down to a close, trucks will be
coming down off the trails and the big dinner and awards event
will be kicking off later in the evening. The next day, hundreds
of people will be firing up their Jeeps and heading back home
with some unforgettable memories of their adventures in the
beautiful San Juan Mountains and of the biggest FSJ gathering in
history.

PRE-REGISTRATIONS STILL GROWING
Last you heard back in April, we had received a whopping 200 pre-
registrations. There are now 293 vehicles in the database with
752 adults and children expressing an interest in attending! It
looks like we'll break 300 well before January after all. This
is going to be one very fun gathering. Almost every year and
model combination are represented and we expect to see a few
Willys Wagons and M715s as well. Where else can we get a chance
to see such a wide variety of our favorite vehicles?

LODGING
So with this many people you might want to know where everyone is
going to be staying? We may be able to reserve rooms and camp-
grounds for you at group rates. We should have this figured out
before October. There are a number of hotels and campgrounds
available in Ouray, Silverton, and Ridgeway. Have a look at the
following URL for more information.
We are currently estimating 60 parties will be reserving hotels
and another 60 will be trying to reserve campsites. You might
want to wait to see what happens with group rates, but the
sooner you make reservations the better.

RECON 2001
As I type, final plans are being made for our last scouting
mission to Ouray and the surrounding areas to talk with local
restaurants, hotels, etc. We are also scouting out trails some of
us have missed in the last couple years. From this intelligence
gathering we'll be making several important decisions. We hope to
have a number of updates for you in the next couple months.

CFSJA, Inc.
So that we can organize this huge event, obtain insurance, and
pay for things, we have incorporated CFSJA as a not-for-profit
corporation in the state of Colorado and we are working on our
IRS tax-exempt status.

RAISING FUNDS
A get-together this big costs some serious coin. While we plan to
use registration fees to cover most costs, we face several in the
near future. Insurance will cost $1500, reserving facilities for
the BBQ dinner will cost at least $300, and reserving hotel rooms
will cost $500. We plan to open registration sometime in October
but we don't anticipate the bulk of the fees to arrive in time to
cover these initial expenses. We are raising funds in the interim
by two means.
First, we are offering lifetime membership to CFSJA for $75. If

Second, we would like to offer a CD-ROM with offroad FSJ images,
FSJ wallpaper images, and FSJ movies from Ouray and elsewhere and
