Hello, I am new to the list but have a question. I have a 1986 Grand Wagoneer on which the gas tank plate is very (VERY) rusted. I have a replacement coming from California. But here is my question. I filled my gas tank up the other day and now I can smell gas outside the truck. One day it was only by the drivers door and last night only at the rear. I can see no leak!!!! Any ideas? Thought it could be of help for those who're looking for trails in their area. I was pretty impressed with its detail (for being on the web). On the city I looked up, which depending on the map, doesn't necessarily exist, I could get to 1:25,000. http://www.topozone.com I should probably take this time to introduce myself. I'm new to the FSJ world. I recently purchased a '64 (titled as a '66) J200. I took the chance and bid on it sight-unseen. Needless to say, I was anxious about bidding and even more anxious when I won. It made its way up from Oklahoma to Michigan in about 6 days for a very decent price. I have to give credit to Baylor County Auto Transport for doing a fantastic job. I've had it just over a week now and love it. It took some work to get it on the road, but it was well worth it. Mostly just rewiring turn signals and some steering and clutch adjustments. The body is very solid, though it could use a good coat of paint. The only rust that is a problem is the floor pan, but I've heard that is a pretty universal complaint. The engine (Kaiser 230) and the rest of the running gear is very sound. A little bit of money on the aesthetics is all it really needs. I imagine I'll be asking a lot of questions, as my mechanical knowledge stems only from theory, rather than practice. Yet, I'm sure that'll change after owning this Jeep, it's already started to. - -- Jacob Goerlich i79 Productions Administrator ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Oct 2000 14:31:20 -0500 From: "Landon Tesar" Subject: fsj: Wag inspected Woo-hoo, wife got Jeep inspected. Now I can sleep. Was worried about the emissions equipment. My eyes are adjusting, I'm seeing more wagoneers around, not so many pickups, but I really like the wrap-around taillights on the earlier models. Went out to the parking lot and looked at someone's brand-new Cherokee. How small, mundane, packaged, and feminine it seems....4wd and I-6 notwithstanding.... - - Landon '89 GW Austin, TX ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #1072 **************************
