My '83 J10 currently has the 258 with what I believe to be a world class T-5. Tomorrow the '96 xj cherokee will be delivered. This weekend I was planning on running up to Canada to buy an Aisin Warner 4 speed automatic... but the more I think about things the more work it is do convert the truck to an automatic... However, would the clutch linkage and shifter linkages work, or just require a little bit of modification? Well, I suppose I can look tomorrow and figure it out too... I think your shortcuts will be taking the main highways, but I haven't tried any alternate routes. Might be something to try on the 2001 recon mission. Michael - --- Michael E. (even Minneapolis or Portland...) my mother-in-law in Mitchell, SD is going in for some surgery soon and I'm trying to figure a way of getting my wife back there and leaving her with the Benz for a few weeks... I'll drive or fly home and then go back out and drive back with her when all is well. One idea is to find someone at work that's moving out here from Cedar Rapids, Iowa that needs a car moved out here. But that'll leave me with a one-way flight back to Mitchell... actually I have to fly into Sioux Falls, SD, there's no more flights into Mitchell since deregulation. :( Otherwise, if I can get the time off, I'll drive out with her with the Benz, fly home, let my wife visit with her family and then fly back out and drive home with her... That way I get to visit with my in-laws for a bit and see some countryside. just a crazy thought... (like I don't have enough to do... ;) (or like I haven't driven across that part of the country enough times in the last 25 years... ;) Even the milemarkers look familiar to me... ;) Otherwise I'll just let my wife fly back and the biggest adventure I'll have is going to and from Sea-Tac. :) My mother-in-law is in her 70's and has had trouble with anesthesia before, so it's important that my wife gets back. My mother-in-law is pretty cool. In fact, all my in-laws are. I told ya so! (I've been to all the major US cities... I wasn't making it up. ;) Seattle Tops In Big City Fwy Congestion ========================================= A study by the Washington, D.C. based Road Information Program shows what Puget Sound area residents already know. Seattle has the most congested freeways of any major city in the United States. The RIP study says significant population growth in the 1990's and the lack of major new roadways are the main reasons why. The report says the region's booming economy is partly to blame, fueling a big jump in urban travel. Despite the time and energy wasted in Seattle's gridlock, the majority of commuters are not looking for alternate ways of getting around. The study says 98-point-four-percent of passenger-miles traveled in the Puget Sound area is done in private vehicles. http://netscape.digitalcity.com/seattle/news/article.dci?provider=metronetworks&category=News&article=746736 - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Apr 2001 18:18:58 -0700 From: john Subject: fsj: trip north postponed...
