Okay.. Since the engine is in finally.. We are trying to get it "..in tuned" like that carb, timing and so forth.. He said it was ready... But from what I have seen and heard.. we have some work to do.. before we put the hood back on.. Well then it dawned on me.. Since this 360 does not have the stock cam, but a RV Cam... doesn't that mean that the timing and so forth would be different? If so.. what is the Degrees of timing? How do you adjust the RPM's to this cam? What about the carb mixture? We have been going stock specs. from out of the TSM Any help would be great! Thanks! If you've ever had whiplash you know how bad it can be... I can't understand why people don't go to Chiropractors when something like this happens... I've seen people suffer for months when they could have been relieved within a few weeks or less. anyway... still got to work out the claim with the insurance companies... the wife isn't eager for me to have multiple parts rigs laying around... so I may just yank the parts I want to keep and let 'em have the rest... don't know yet... I really want to keep these axles with the TADs... too bad the lift kit was damaged... :( too many projects going on right now, didn't need this... I had no plans on retiring the little wagoneer... it was our primary vehicle... they gave us a stinky escort to drive... it's like riding a skateboard! I want my Jeep back... It has three low ranges + overdrive in the same box and is built similar to big rig gearboxes, ie it is very stout. Features 3.258:1, 2.575:1, 1:1, and .79:1   It is air shifted. Price was quoted at $3500. Sounds like it can be shifted into O/D while moving. They also offer simpler direct/underdrive units. Perhaps they offer an O/D only unit. If hooked to the negative side, and the power is going to the + side like it's supposed to, there will be NO spark! (+ on the negative and + on the positive make zero difference, or not enough to spark anyway) Hook a test light or Voltmeter to the + side of your coil, and see if you have power while cranking (it should go brighter, or jump closer to 12V. Minimum 10V to start!) From: "Landon Tesar" I checked with a timing light, and I am getting spark when I move the tumbler from 'off' to 'start', and again I get a spark when I move back to 'off'. And there is a shudder from the engine. I thought this would be the ignition switch. I've taken the ignition switch off, but it seems to check out ok for connections. I think we're just about down to wires. They wanted us to pay a $500 deductible even though it wasn't our fault 100%, and we found out one of their agents screwed up when we changed the policy from her old car to the new truck! They dropped off the tow and rental vehicle portion! (and under insured motorist protection too!) so we were lucky it's still drivable. My chiro moved to Redmond, so I have a bit of a trek ahead of me! You will also get less than market value for your rig because it was written off before. Look into the kid's ticket to make sure it's not dropped in court, or the insurance company can claim it's 50-50 (been there, and it cost me $3500 to prove otherwise!) If there is no signal going from the dist to the ignition box, the coil won't fire, except when the key is turned on and off. (bad box, or bad pickup coil. I can't recall what the reading is supposed to be with a voltmeter while the motor is cranking. It was rebuilt and inspected by the state and retitled. It was relicensed and reinsured. As far as the insurance company is concerned, it never happened, except of course to raise my rates for three years... ;) The area that was previously damaged wasn't affected this time. So any damage is fresh damage. The problem is it's actual cash value, not market value... this is a new term for me... we'll see how this plays in Peoria... ;) What will hurt more than anything is it's age and mileage. HOWEVER, I just had work done to it and am ready to do battle. I went through this the last time too. Once I got done itemizing what I'd added to the vehicle they paid me a grand more than I'd paid for the Jeep a year before. The cop made it clear in his report that it was his fault. He said even if my wife had been coming up that hill at 70mph it would have been his fault. She was doing 50 in a 55mph on a clear day with a easily seen vehicle. Take one look at all the reflective items on the front of that xj and tell me you couldn't see that coming! :) he didn't look, he was probably doing 15 to 20mph coming out of the gas station without stopping... he hit her in the front tire and spun her around... not even a question of who was at fault. Besides, I've got full coverage and my insurance is providing the rental right now... and the PIP for the Chiropractor, and I guess I only have $100 deductible... which is all very strange to me as I've always kept my deductibles around $500 and no rental cars... go figure... That is too low an engine speed on the highway with a stock 360. I would rather see at least 2000 RPM for 70. I think with your proposed gearing you will be lugging the engine and that is not real good for efficiency. You will have to shift at the site of a hill. I would expect with that tranny, 3.54's or 3.73's would be a better match.
