My insurance company just told me what they valued the little wagoneer at... $2800 or so... yet the bluebooks I've seen range from $4,800 to $7,600 AND a similiar vehicle was just purchased by a friend, it's list price was $4,500 and it wasn't lifted, didn't have all the add-ons or anything... I will be dropping hartford once this is all settled. I'm waiting to see what state farm attempts to do... I may be contacting an attorney yet... sheesh... I'd like to try and replace the little wagoneer for $2,800! There's that much in the axles and tires! I bought an '87 cherokee laredo from a friend at work today... it's a cheap, high mileage basic model that I'll use while I'm rebuilding my J10. I'll move my accessories from the little wagoneer over to it and sell it when I'm done... it's in very nice condition. thankfully the wife is doing fine... now it appears I have two parts xj's in the yard... I'm beginning to look like Sanford and Son... ;) BTW, the cost to buy back my xj from my ins co was only $400. the saga continues... I'd hate to image what they would have done if she'd been driving the benz... they'd probably have charged me! ;) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** john-at-wagoneers.com via PINE on Linux **** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://junkscience.com ** http://snopes.com ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA ...don't leave life without Jesus, please... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 May 2001 17:16:26 -0700 (PDT) From: Carnuck-at-webtv.net (James Blair) Subject: Re: fsj: Re: 1991 Grand Wagoneer A: I see no reason for them not to fit. Thanks, Randy Guynn     Randy Guynn - -- http://www.performanceamstyle.com/ I would think that those headers would most likely fit any AMC V8 made... :) I can't think of anything in particular why the '90 would be different than a '91 unless they went with an O2 sensor, which makes little sense... I'll forward this to the FSJ list to see if there are any issues, but my thought is there is nothing different... No worries then! Or at least have the detent kit put in that bumps the lockup to 50 mph from 40 so you're at least in the powerband before it shifts! From: Michael Shimniok One could swap the 999 gearsets into the 727, and use the smaller converter...? If the valvebody is lockup, then would a 999 lockup converter work with a 727 lockup body?   What are the valvebody differences... why is the 999 a 'baby' version? Just thinking about these things in case I rebuild a 727... worth considering what I can do to it. More engine braking & greater efficiency would be desirable... not sure if lower gears would be good or just make shifting into 3rd annoying. :) Maybe I'll end up building a lockup 727 as it can only help fuel efficiency and I have no plans to tow ... would it stay off when I'm in low range... ? You'd think on a '90 that Jeep would have cleaned up the wiring issues. Are there stray wires? If you're wiring looks like this: http://www.wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/johns-80-Cherokee/March3-2001/P3030801.JPG you need to do some work and clean it up so it's not rubbing against anything. I can't recall if the '90 had a ballast resistor or not. Sounds like that could be an issue. Either that or the starter relay isn't connected properly, or the wrong type was installed. The symptoms you describe certainly sound related to a ballast resistor or the related circuitry. It could also be a bad ignition switch. john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** john-at-wagoneers.com via PINE on Linux **** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://junkscience.com ** http://snopes.com ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA ...don't leave life without Jesus, please... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 May 2001 20:12:33 -0500 From: Ken Gaines Subject: fsj: Diesel engine FSJers I seem to remember a thread from a few weeks ago discussing a Nissan diesel engine and the associated drivetrain.
