I'm going to re-remodel my carport/shop to open up another parking space... It's going to be a loooonnnggg summer for me without SuperDawg, can hardly wait for him to get all rebuilt and repainted. :) That worked out great because it looks like I'm developing carpal tunnel syndrome... I couldn't even pull a spark plug wire on my daughters car last night... need to cool it on email too... this is hurting... couldn't imagine doing the swap like this... really appreciate my friend. :) gotta run, john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2001 18:30:03 -0700 From: john Subject: fsj: Re: Original hubs for '69 Wagoneer? it appears that the hubs were an option. I've seen it in brochures that way. I have two shop manuals for the J-series, one dated 1966 and one 1977, neither mention hubs but show the front axles with nuts and hubcaps. I believe that all my '60's vintage SJ's had hubs, almost all had Warn hubs. let me know when you're up in the area, maybe we can get together for lunch or coffee... I went down to oregon months ago and bought up all the superwag parts from a guy, I think I spent about $250 on 'em all... oh, yeah, most of that was the 327 manifold and carb... :) I've cleaned out my carport and have a pile of parts up on the hill, fenders, glass, even a door... I'm focusing on my '83 J10 Stepside that's being renovated... anything not used on that is pretty much for sale. :) I'm down to three Jeeps at this point... my '83 J10, the '99 WJ if we keep it, and this "temporary" '87 XJ, but my son wants to buy it and it's a nice rig... problem is if my son buys it he'll beat it to death off road... :( I do "technically" have another jeep, a '67 J-100 panel, but a friend has already decided he wants to buy it... and my wife is so happy that it isn't going to be here, that I'd break the hearts of TWO if I decided to keep it now. ;) john At 08:11 AM 6/24/01 -0700, you wrote: >Thanks John - I've subscribed to the fsj list, and I'll pay a visit to >Olympic 4x4. Retarded the timing by 1.5deg's, starts a little better than before, but still hard; occasional backfire from carburetor. Wife now refuse to drive car. Is there something that could have been assembled wrong after the head-gasket was replaced that could be causing this problem? Had not been an issue prior to replacing gasket and water-pump. Checked the battery connections, new wires and a ground to the frame. Anybody know if we have to take off the valve covers to get the intake manifold off? Just trying to plan ahead a bit -- I need to go shopping anyway and was wondering if I will need new gaskets for the valve covers.
