Did a Quad trac to Spicer 20 swap in a 73 Wagoneer. Have a weird vibration. The member did not line up as good as I would have liked on the 20. Have done allot of troubling shooting, but to no avail. Just replace the trans adapter and the 20 case. Broke in two, went off the road trying not to hit a kid who pulled out if front of me. Hey the Dana 44 conversion with disc brakes and international master cylinder/ power booster worked. Well the front end stopped but the rear end passed me, almost straighent out when I went off the road. Not a scratch in the paint. It is underneath that got hurt. All fixed again but the vibration is still there. Have reangled the rear, the front drive shaft is now straight again and in balance. The rear shaft is a special job, put a CV coupling with the yoke at the axle end and is over sized on the tube( the forward balance weight keeps coming off from harmonics) (The shafts were done by Taylor drive line in Port Orchard). This was done because of the angles, Center 20 to a Dana 44 offset rear end. If I put in a center rear have to relocate the gas tank and other parts. So had the shaft done. The axles are 74 and rebuilt, engine and trans rebuilt. New rear left springs and shocks. New tires and rims. Well just replaced the tire last winter, they looked like white donuts. Any one who needs 31x10.5x15 ATs with less than 4000 miles let me know. Now have 30x9x15, like these a whole lot better. If I take out the rear shaft the vibration is gone. The truck has so little miles on it because do not want to destroy all the work I have done to it. And if I run the stock rear shaft, which in now bent, have the same vibration. Any one who has a suggestion, advice or snide remark, Please let me know. And if I did not have enough missorary, just pick up a 78 Cherokee for 200 bucks, has a bad rod. Have spare motor but no time.
