You can also call their 800# if you don't feel safe giving the number online. I'm working on getting them to take Pay Pal, but then, I work for a subsidiary of theirs. Schucks) My son may have a usable 360 to sell soon. It will need the timing cover possibly replaced though. From: "Brian Turner" Subject: fsj: parts Just went to autoparts.com and was looking at there site. Does any one know anything about them? Is it a waste of time or can you get parts for amc? The reason I ask is because they ask for the card. Am leary of giving it out. So if the site is well worth it, I will. Would like any feed back. Thanks. On a second note, started looking into the cost of rebuilding the 360 in the 78 Cherokee. By my estimate it is going to be around a twelve hundred to fifteen hundred. This is with me pulling the motor and tearing down, shipping out for the machine work and putting back together. And all the other little things that go along, like rebuild carb, new water pump/distributor and all the other little goodies. Going to school full time and working part time, could pull this off but would stretch the pocket book. Does any one know of a good running 360/401 they are will to sell (live in Wash state). This one has a bad crank, sometime about running it without oil. But all the other parts are ok (will well worn but useable). If I fix the motor and something else goes out would not have the bucks to fix. If any one has any ideas or leads, please let me know. Brian 73 wag 78 Cherokee ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Mar 2002 19:49:19 -0800 From: "Brian Turner" Subject: fsj: exhaust Got some questions, on exhaust. When my jeep, the 73 wag got the works, made the mistake and put on headers. Had exhaust leaks since. Have over a hundred bucks in gaskets. But that is another story. The nephew jeep, (from road trip), had bad exhaust, so they (both nephews) ok the oldest is 22, and the youngest is 19, took the jeep into town and had the exhaust replaced. Just stock from manifold to tail pipe. Will the exhaust man cut the pipe about a foot from the manifold and made new to the end. The axle hit the new pipe. So let the nephews learn how to deal with shops, made them take it back. They got some run around. So I took it back with them. The town is small with a lot of people in the county so it is not like every one knows every one type of town. The dude was cool with the problem with the axle part and fixed it right there. But the dilemma of the right side exhaust, I know about the heat riser, 85 bucks to replace and could work maybe 3 or 4 years and ...........But they leak. Mine on the 73 was so bad I went to headers (and they leak). So the problem is on the left is a flange with donut. On the right is the riser that cracks. Two things replace the riser with a flat gasket. (which are prone to leak). Or take the riser and cut out the guts and braze up the riser and braze to the exhaust manifold. What is the worst of too evils. Already had experience with headers so that is out. In the end gotta love Jeeps, because nothing else is a Jeep. And the jeep will get you home. Been driven the jeep(not much) but has a broken flex plate. Got use to town and talked to the muffler guy. Sounded ugly going home, but got us there.
