It has nearly open circuited on you, and it's not allowing power back to the battery (or your battery is toast from running down to nothing. Even a new battery will croak if it's run totally down) Add a jumper wire from the alternator main output to the battery positive and make sure there is a ground wire from the battery negative to the fender as well as the motor. In 1972 Jeep dropped the Gladiator name, simply referred to as "Jeep Trucks". In 1974 the model designation changed to J10 for the 1/2 ton trucks. The last year for the J10/J20 was 1987, although I've heard of a few 1988 models registered and ran across one that was actually documented by a dealership as a 1988. FWIW, 1985 was the last year of the short wheel base J10s. Model 20 rear axles began showing up in either 1980 or 1981 when they switched transfer case makers and moved the driveline to the driver's side. I know for sure 1981, not sure if the 1980's had Model 20's or not, my guess is they did. john meister snohomish, washington On 3/23/02 9:32 PM, "R.J. He bought my '77 Cherokee after I gave up on it because of 8mpg and just too much to do to it. He loves it. The T-18 is awesome with that super low first gear. He's going to put a locker in it. He's trying to decide front or rear right now. He bought an EZ locker. I think the '77 Cherokee will be fine with one in the rear. He's running Michelin LTX 31x10.5s and a fair amount of lift. He just put the Edelbrock 1406 on today! :) Runs sweet. He's not a confirmed Holley hater yet, he's got a Holley on his '67 Fairlane and quite happy with it. >> I'm getting a '75 J10 without engine/trans/xfr case. I'm really impressed by this little '83 Ford Ranger, it has the 2.2L Mazda Diesel. I'm getting close to 30mpg in town with it. It's gutless, but the 4 speed is almost perfectly matched for use. 1st gear is capable of pulling heavy loads easily. It will start out in 2nd gear with little protest. 4th gear needs one more. :) It'll cruise at 60mph, or more, but it just feels like I need one more gear... :) Not sure what top speed on it is. I've had it up to about 75mph for a short time, I just couldn't bring myself to wind that little oil burner up much tighter. :) Of course it'll hit it's limit and stop going, no danger of hurting it... :) > -brad later, john - - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** john-at-wagoneers.com via PINE on Linux ** (plain text please!) ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. ...and remember, leaving life without Jesus just isn't recommended... - - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2002 22:17:44 -0800 From: john meister Subject: fsj: east coast adventure coming up I fly out of Seattle Friday night (3/29).
