If you really want all the extras, then go to or call your local truck stop and ask where they recommend for radios. They would know best, who does the best work, who has the best gear, etc. AS for my personal suggestion, unless you are very serious into it (And it sounds like you are not anymore) I would suggest a nice Cobra 25 or 29 LTD or the versions with SSB and/or weather and a fire stick antenna with tip tuning. The three brands that you would probably be happiest with are....Cobra, Uniden and Galaxy (The newer hotshot that came over from the 10 meter side. Lot's of truckers like them). Keep with the solid brands, maybe have it tweaked and keep costs down. You shouldn't need anymore than that. AS for me, I use Cobra's and Uniden professional series. My newest is 8 or 9 years old and they work great. They are used regularly and a couple of them even serve duty in trucking, daily. Anything else is a hill. :) fwiw, the forest fires are on the "dry side" of the coastal range and they are massive... yellowstone was something to see after the fires. the smog is (or was) in LA earthquakes and mudslides... yep. So how far are you from where I am right now? I'm going to go and look at a Diesel CJ for a friend on the Diesel Benz list... :) Aren't you up near Boston? I think that's a 5 or 6 hour drive from where I think I'm at. :) MLC(mandatory list content) - haven't seen any FSJs since I've been here... I have seen "new" cars with fenders rusted off!!!! It was almost 60 degrees here and there was still salt on the sidewalk at the hotel and snow piled up in driveways. :) john > > ~dave > > On Sat, 30 Mar 2002, john meister wrote: > >> well, I made it to Pennsylvannia... and I'm back on line... :) >> I'm in something they call the Pocono Mountains. I crawled underneath with cans of rust converter/primer stuff and sprayed the few exposed metal parts. replaced all the brake stuff. SuperDawg was remarkably clean. Curtis says there's rust on him, but Curtis is from california. :) So for him, yes, there is rust on SuperDawg. :) Won't be when he's done though. john On 3/31/02 9:16 AM, "David Charles Gedraitis" wrote: > The rust issue means basically > if your going to restore a can in new england, you have to be a body man, > and that there are four ways to remove any nuts, bolts and screws from a > car.
