HELP!!!! A: Cheapest way is to find someone going that direction and strap it on top of their VW Rabbit diesel! LOL! (Hard to see where you're going tho!) Possibly someone with a pickup and strap it upside down on their box (if it was another Jeep truck with the same size bed, you could put wood stakes in the box holes and flip the box upside down on top!) Perhaps catch someone that is heading that direction with an ad on the net offering to pay their gas? From: "Joe H Lawrence" Subject: fsj: How to ship a pickup bed????? HELP!!!! Hi everyone, been on the list a while now, lurked a lot, learned a lot, posted once or twice own a 1977 J-10, 360 4bbl. I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer a question? If you where looking to ship a pickup truck bed from Kentucky to New Jersey, how would you achieve the task, cheaply and easily for both the seller and the buyer????? Hope someone can help me. Thanks for all the other FSJ info I have gained here in the last 6 months or so. I even got pulled over by a cop that didn't think it was very funny) From: JeepNut Subject: Re: fsj: RE: Re: [Door Lock Solenoids] Now that's what I like. Both practical AND fun ideas... Maybe I could use one to release a spring-loaded banner that reads YOU'RE FOLLOWING TOO CLOSE! Can you imagine the affect of this on a driver who is nothing but a head and roofline in your rearview? About 5' of fabric ought to make the sign big enough to scare the pants off nearly any of these drunks out here...ROFLMAO! All, Last year we went on a camp-out and I had put a car topper on the factory rack. Needless to say, I overloaded the factory load bars and -at- 60 mph, they went WHUMP, WHUMP, WHUMP on the top of my roof for about 60 miles or so! Therefore, I decided to take the factory rack off and install a Yakima rack system. I'm going to remove the factory rack, fill the holes w/ Bondo, sand and primer the spots and maybe paint those spots with black Rustoleum paint (the GW needs a paint job anyway). Then, I will install the Yakima tracks, very similar to those on the newer Cherokees, Exploders, etc. This will allow me to mount any Yakima (or other brand) rack accessory to load bars rated -at- 160 pounds! REI (the local Recreational store) has all Yakima products on 20% off. I'm starting today. Now I need to find out how much the factory rack is worth. Anyone out there know the going price or better yet, anyone out there need one? It is pretty much rust-free. I thing a few of the screws holding it together are rusty, but I will be replacing those with Stainless Steel screws as I clean it up for sale. I figure a few weeks and I will probably post it on Ebay if no-one on the list wants is. I guess my suggestion would be to find somebody with a truck and hitch going that way and have them rent (unless they already have one!) a flatbed trailer, like one of those car hauler trailers, and strap the bed to the trailer. Still not going to be cheap or easy unless you really luck out. Or maybe somebody going up there with a moving truck, esp. a smaller load. Offer to pay the difference for a bigger moving truck (and maybe a little extra for the trouble) and load it in there. That would be a several-person job to load and unload, I'm sure. But if you put the bed in first (assuming it fits sitting flat), they could put other stuff in the bed so it wastes less space. Other than that, I'd call some freight companies (like with semis) and see how much they'd charge. You'll probably need to know dimensions and weight of the bed. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her all of her friends? - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 May 2002 14:32:50 -0700 From: john meister Subject: fsj: Re: stall problem thanx for the update, hope that took care of it. :) john On 5/17/02 7:10 PM, "Chrissy" wrote: > How's it going.
