I'd like to look at that '88 Chero before he runs it back to Iowa! My '81 is rough and I'm about to pop a good motor in it. Oh well..... Status: The clock is ticking....... Finally got the cam and lifters in from Summit. Put the new cam and lifters in the engine last weekend. Also put in Edelbrock valve springs. They are taller than stock. But I have some questions........ - - Are the rubber valve seals supposed to be free-floating? I thought they were supposed to stay down around that part of the head where the valve stems go through. - - Do I need to clean and use the old intake manifold splash pan? Is it necessary to help seal the manifold to the heads? - - What is a good break in procedure? Edelbrock says when I first start the motor to rev it and hold it at 2 to 2.5 K on the tach to break in the new camshaft properly. - -- Should I have the exhaust manifolds reconditioned or just clean them up and bolt them on? Engine mods: - -- Rebuilt 360 - -- Edelbrock cam and lifters - -- Ed. springs and retainers - -- Ed. chain and sprockets - -- Ed. EGR intake - -- Ed. SuperDawg update A: Want a pic of Black Jack with the Comanche canopy on? It looks stock! From: john-at-wagoneers.com just a quick note that when you're a new member your first posts have to be moderated, apologize for the day delay... I'm rebuilding my system and missed it. (I'm attempting to configure my Sony Vaio with W2K in spite of Sony's insistence that it will only work with XP. XP was rebooting at random on me. NT5, er w2k, has been running pretty much all night with me installing s/w w/o trouble... I am looking for a DVD driver right now... but since I only have 4 DVDs I really don't give a rip if it works or not. ;) SuperDawg update! We're making progress... found out that Jim B's earlier measurements were off by about an inch, we're adding over another inch with an adapter and the NP219 is bigger then the NP208... in other words I'm adding driveshafts to the expenses... :( Still trying to figure out what to do with the bed. Any tool boxes I've found are rather expensive, over $400! I haven't been to a pawn shop yet... One idea that came up is the idea of a canopy... saw some pix of a J10 stepside with one and it doesn't look too bad, see: http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/j10-tmp/j10-1_.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/j10-tmp/j10-2_.jpg later, john-at-wagoneers.com ************************************* JimBlair, Seattle,WA '84 J10, '86 MJ http://www.geocities.com/eaglemania2002/ Black Jack's before pic: http://wagoneers.com/JEEPS/FESTS/Snohomish-April2-2000/PIC00004.JPG ************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2002 09:23:41 -0700 From: "Jim B" Subject: Re: [fsj: Re: Re: Rack done, Sunroof in!] A: WARNING!!!!! I've given up on xp and have w2k pro loaded, so far so good. the only thing I'm missing is a version of intervideo windvd (3.1) for w2k, I've got the one for xp... anyone able to help with some sort of dvd reader/player? so far w2k has been up and running for almost 24hrs without so much as a blip... I setup mozilla, downloaded netscape 7.0, and have been doing all the normal stuff on this that didn't seem to work on XP... SUPERDAWG update: http://wagoneers.com/tmp/SuperDawg the motor is in the chassis for fit. turns out the aw4 is 5" longer then the t-5, the adapter we're building is almost 2" longer and the np219 is another 2 or so inches longer then the np208... meaning about 8" worth of driveshaft mods are needed. This will work out good as the weight is moved further back in the chassis... :) still trying to decide what to do with the bed, looking for a two lid crossover toolbox that will fit within the 48" bed, ford/chev stepsides have a model available that's 46" that will work... but they're spendy new... so I'm looking around... either that or I may go with a canopy... not sure which way to go... thanx again for the help with the computer... I can live without the DVD player... :) it's nice to have a stable system again... john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2002 16:14:13 -0700 From: john Subject: fsj: other j10s I sold the cab on the '75 J10 last weekend.
