They're made from used GM parts and have a custom chip he puts together, and he'll further customize it for your truck. I just got a new chip a couple days ago, though the first one was already very close. As for how it works off-road, well, I haven't had much chance to do that yet (and this winter was pretty tame, so not even much snow), but as for elevation: http://dan.black.org/88GW/evans.html That's the review I wrote after driving it up to the top of Mt. Evans, over 14000'. Also tells my experience with previous setups, both the stock 2bbls and the Holley Commander 950. I'd recommend the CustomEFIs system; it's definitely better than anything else I've tried, especially up in the mountains. (Please read the review before asking a bunch of questions; it's kinda long, but it addresses a lot of the standard questions, and there are headings to help you find the info you want.) I'll also have the '88 with the TBI at Ouray, so anybody who wants to see how it looks, any specifics of the hookups, go for a quick ride, or even just listen to how smooth the engine purrs is welcome to take a look. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are a lot of crazy people in this world, and I am only two or three of them. -- Bob Cope - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Jul 2002 08:45:21 -0700 From: "Jim B" Subject: fsj: Re: Ouray Invasion Convoy A: My work is trying to tell me that after being there 2 years I don't yet qualify for the 2 weeks vacation I applied for when I first started. (same chickens#!t outfit that kept putting off my vacation last year till it was too cold to go camping with my dad, who passed away in Feb, and they STILL haven't increased my wage by so much as a penny in all that time! I think I see an exit door coming) I am written in for vacation from Aug 7 to the 21st, and I'm taking the time off, with or without pay. My oldest son and I have been working hard on getting Black Jack ready to go whenever I have time away from all the other crap going on (my wife in the hospital, my youngest son dealing with my ex-wife and my second oldest son's transportation difficulties), so if we were unable to go, it would be an extreme disappointment to say the least. I am going offline on the 7th till the truck is rolling.
