Made it to Boise... picked up a rock chip on I-84... which pretty mild compared to what Paul Kershner picked up... or rather, hit... he hit a deer near Steamboat Springs... :( 1,200 miles from home... National Lampoon's vacation was less troubled... ;) He and his family are ok, no word on the deer, but Paul needs a radiator/tranny cooler and a grille... We should be home tomorrow night... :) LW. ;) BTW, anyone heard from Bob? "Jim B" said: {- A: There were a couple rads found easily out in Ouray. 1 for a 6 and 1 for an {- 8 for less than $50 for the pair. Not sure about Steamboat springs. Heh, I should replace my radiator one of these days, too. Drain plug is stripped; can't get it out (or open -- both sets of threads are dead). And as others saw, it's leaking small amounts of fluid around much of the seam at the top. However, I JBWelded that a couple nights ago, and I think I've lessened the leak (which, again, wasn't significant to the fluid level anyway, just annoying), and I think a second round of JBWeld can get the tiny bits I missed. Still, I'm mainly pissed cuz I bought the radiator brand new about two years ago. I can't say it's a complete piece of junk, because even with I think only two rows of fins, it still has never had a problem keeping the engine cool, including on the trails in Ouray. But I don't think the top was put on very well. {- From: john {- Subject: fsj: Ouray return adventures continue... {- {- He and his family are ok, no word on the deer, but Paul {- needs a radiator/tranny cooler and a grille... What year grille? As John knows, I have a couple extra now... ;) One's from the '84-85 GWag, and I think the Wagoneers before that -- it was a popular grille for a long time. The other I think is from a very early 80s and/or late 70s Cherokee. Both have a couple broken places, but might even be fixable with some creative epoxying. And they should mount ok in one piece, which is better than a shattered grille. Anyway, the price is right -- John gave them to me (I bought another grille from him), so I'll give them to someone else in need for just the cost of shipping (which may be a bit high due to dimensions). Let me know; I can snap quick digital pics if you want. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The irregularities in the printing of this garment are part of its unique design. - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 10:00:07 -0700 From: "Jim B" Subject: fsj: '87 Cherokee 5 speed trans (2wd from a 4.0L) on Ebay (mine) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1853710731 http://www.virtualjeep.com/ Black Jack and other pics ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 12:20:59 -0700 From: "Jim B" Subject: fsj: Black Jack's latest pic I posted it on http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/fsj-list under the photos section titled "Black Jack stayed home" http://www.virtualjeep.com/ Black Jack and other pics ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 16:42:19 -0500 From: "R.J. R.J. the ,Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 01:00:40 -0400 From: j2sax-at-cs.com Subject: DO you have Ouray Video or digital photos? Be a part of Ouray Tapes/ DVD in the works! Howdy all! Ouray was awesome other than the one accident incident. Even with mechanical failures and body damage it was inspiring to see the community spirit exhibited by all. Most difficulties were overcome right on sight. We even had one fellow tow a J(X)000 halfway through Poughkipsie Gulch with a strap! Then there was the "River Beast" incident! And, of course, I, who came out without my Jeep, managed to do some body damage of my own (probably a fractured shin.. we'll see when I get home if I can stand it that long!). If you missed out or want a reminder of the great event we are heading home to the Editing Station to begin cutting up the 8 hours of Digivid I took personally. (one good side effect of not having my rig there was the ability to ide with someone new everyday and spend all my time taking video instead of driving!) As was demonstrated at the KOA, if we combine our vids, we can cover some of the events and incidents from different angles. (I know there were at least two of the Poughkipsie obstacle that will work great with my own vid). So here's the deal... if you want to have your video as part of the Ouray 2002 Project send your tape or pics to me at this eddress (j2sax-at-cs.com) or mail to: Jesse Serrano, II 284 Chelsea Lane Sparta, MO 65753 Please mark EVERY tape with your return address and your personal tracking markings (1 of 3, etc...). If your setup is digital, please contact me through this eddress and we might be able to work out a more efficient delivery method. Digi Pics are also welcome. I have shots of Mountain Goats and Elk in the Mountains that I think all will enjoy. This is not a big money making venture, however, there will be cost incurred. I will need to gauge how many are interested in the project to determine cost, especially with the DVD duplication. Once again, please e me directly at j2sax-at-cs.com if you are interested. The cost should be between $10 (if many are interested) to $20 (if few are interested). Regardless, it will be well worth it to have a permanent archive of the biggets FSJ event ever! I personally don't think I have ever seen this many running FSJ's in my life... much less in one place! Also, I was doing interviews with just about everyone I met... getting name, location, and vehicle info (really cool to see what guys have done... talk about ideas!) This is great for me as I have a face and rig to go with the name on the LIST. I may make a seperate archive for this if there are too many to fit with the event coverage. If so it will be inexpensive due to the smaller size. Anyway, if I did not get an interview with you and you have access to a camera, why not shoot a VERY BRIEF bio on you and your vehicle and send it on. I may be the only person excited about this, but maybe not! Even if you were NOT able to make the event, send the bio and I will work it in. If I use some of your event video there will be a discount, of course. I am not going to try to get rich on this deal either. It is going to take a lot of time to do this right, so I appreciate your patience. Have a great week and hope this comes together! Jesse (I can include some vid of the 4 Door J20 project to sweeten the deal!) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 21:08:55 -0500 From: "R.J. I would love to get together with anyone around here. I don't know about going 4 wheelin, I don't know my vehicle that well yet. But it sure would be fun to just get together for a day or 2 and swap air. My husband is always taking me to car shows (he has a 64 malibu ss) and I always wanted to put together a Jeep show in this area. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about it? Is there a Jeep Club around this area? If not, can we start one? Its really beautiful here around the Charleston, Summerville area espically in the fall when it cools down! If no one else is interested then we can just meet for coffee and chitchat about our babies.
