In retrospect.....I think I lost some of the low end torque. However, it really has lots more power now at higher RPM's (3 grand and above). I have no problems on the highway and daily driving is fine. Started out with a rebuilt, rebored motor. Parts I used were Edelbrock chain and sprockets, cam, lifters, springs, retainers, 1400 carb, EGR manifold, valve covers and air cleaner. The last two of course were entirely for looks! Painted it AMC blue for effect. Oh yeah, don't forget to get the Edelbrock linkage extension part for your throttle linkage. Plus, I have a problem with my cruise control chain hitting the 15 inch air cleaner on the bottom. I'd probably go with a 14 inch or smaller air cleaner at this point but you know, the 15 inch with my new K&N air filter really breaths well! I can send a picture if you want. Probably have about $2,000 wrapped up in engine and parts and another $500 to $1,000 in miscellaneous parts like hoses, pumps, new 4 core radiator (bored motor runs hot), etc. PS: I have a full set of lifters, springs, retainers, and cam for a stock 360. Also have some extra parts - my original '81 engine with manifold and carb. Some '79 engine parts from a J20 - intake and exhaust manifolds and a carb (2 barrel). Also have my original '81 engine with carb and intake manifold. - --Vince '81 Wagoneer - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, August 31, 2002 3:41 AM Subject: fsj: AMC 360 build >

you know that kind of thinking just runs so counter to the liberal
mindset... :) btw, World Magazine had an interesting article last
issue about California, might be on line...

It's interesting how the liberals attack our freedoms and our
ability to 4x4. More and more of our off-road areas are restricted.
Even though most of the 4x4 clubs do cleanup activity on the trails... :(

Wow JC, great info and exactly what I was looking for.
There is still that yellow wire though, do I keep that connected to the batt
side of the starter solenoid too?

It was great. Went to Mesa Verde, Moab, 4 corners... didn't
do any wheeling though... had the wife's Jeep and she made it clear
that I couldn't. :) I did drive up Black Bear Road a ways though... :)
Did get a chance to put the WJ in 4 low... for a short way... :)

at last... hopefully he'll be together before the first snow...

That's too bad... the engineering union at Boeing never did any thing
for me... I was glad to get out from it by way of a promotion. :)

Sounds like you're dealing with the good old boy network... too bad,
sometimes it takes a union to bust that mentality... but then the
union becomes the good old boy network and all suffer...

You've kind of got one of those "dream jobs"... of course there
really aren't any more of those unless you either start your own
company or work for a small company that has good morales.

We went through a bit of downsizing, lost a lot of folks... we had
deferred pay increases that we just got... about half of normal and
about 8 months late, but we have a job and things are turning around.

The entire economy is pretty bad overall.

It is. Would have been nice if you could have made it to Ouray
