A: I just learned yesterday that the guy I thought had successfully grafted a 4.0L into his Eagle (which has the 998 auto, which is the little version of the 727) toasted his trans because the 4.0L flexplate pushed the converter too deep into the front pump and it self-destructed. It appears now the only way to do the conversion is to use the 4.2L flexplate with the 727/999 and use the original starter, and the Hesco harmonic balancer Crank Position Sensor kit to run the EFI, OR use a complete AW4 ('91 and newer are 23 spline) with a spacer/adapter plate to match your original transfercase (or use the small Jeep's transfercase with a slip-yoke eliminator kit). ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Sep 2002 13:19:21 -0600 From: "Stephen D. Unfortunately, the rear window won't roll up. My first project on it after installing new seat belts in the rear for the kids. Now that I am addicted, I am going to add an 87 Grand Waggie, no rust, very straight, clean, but blown motor as a parts car. I do not intend on adding any of the power stuff into my rig, but plan to bolt in the seats, install the carpets, maybe the door panels, and the seat belts from the 87 into the 83. The rest of the interior will be available. I will also keep the wheels to use for studded tires. That leaves a whole lot of nice parts available. I do not think I need any of the mechanicals. The dash, the stereo, the instruments, etc. is all there. The transfer case and all the other goodies are reportedly in good shape. As I stated, the body is straight. The woodie pieces are mostly all there and in good shape but the wood "panelling" is faded. The car is painted a bronzish gold. Does anyone need anything? Contact me and we can figure out what is fair. I'll take any reasonable offers and buyer pays shipping. - -- Steve Thompson P.O. Paid the $$$ and had it shipped down. However when I opened the box I noticed that it only had one selector arm and a funny little switch on top. After consulting my manual I came to the conclusion that this must be a 219 (quadratrack). bummer. I spoke to the guy I bought it off, who was just a tad embarresed. he's now offered to build me up a proper 229. Just as a matter of interest would the 219 bolt directly in??? the housing and everthing look pretty much the same, the only thing that I can see that would require adjustment it the selector lever in the car. Ok, you can, but I suggest you don't. 1. Threads are coarse. OEM threads are fine. 2. Made in Korea. 3. NAPA has Balkamp for $1.50 more than Autozone. 4. Threads are small? the nuts I have are loose. 5. They don't come with replacement nuts. Also I'm mad because I can't get my wrench on the upper bolt inside the motor mount on the passenger side. will buy a 90 degree knuckle tonight and give it another shot, otherwise, must undo at the frame and at the block, not looking forward to that! Looks like AMC/Willys expected us to replace the motor mounts before putting the exhaust manifold on.... - - Landon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Sep 2002 18:37:51 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: fsj: Re: transmissions I don't know. most transmissions have a bearing on the output shaft... but I'm not familiar with the 700r4. john On Tue, 24 Sep 2002 ClaCulbrea-at-aol.com wrote: >-->

'78 Cherokee, 641 miles, beautiful. Even like the color!

(From the main picture and the price, might describe it as a "gauge
cluster with a Jeep included".)
