He had a T-18A (6.35:1 1st gear). We've got the correct flexplate and the bolts (thanx to Paul K), but we don't appear to have the sleeve or bushing. Talking with Curtis about it he wasn't sure it was necessary for the TH400, but would cause problems for the TF727 if it was there... So, does anyone have one of these mythical bushings, or details on it, or a picture maybe so we can make or fab one, if it's really needed... thanx, john & mark meister - ----------------------------------------------------------- http://www.WAGONEERS.com/SuperDawg '83 J10 Stepside http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL/FSJ_filters.html Snohomish, WA, where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... - ----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Oct 2002 21:59:53 -0700 From: john Subject: fsj: Re: 1985, Grand Wagoneer 6 degrees... 258. :) john At 01:40 PM 10/8/2002 -0700, Josi De Lesn wrote: >Hello >Excuse the delay but been to busy, Thanks for your support, but yesterday i >found out it is not a 4.0 litter engine, but a 4.2, 258, still i will try >the degrees you told me. > >Tu hermano en Cristo >Josi > >Muchas Gracias >Y que el Seqor te Bendiga a tm y a los tuyos. >Amin, Amin, Amin > >----- Original Message ----- >From: "john" >To: "Josi De Lesn" >Cc: >Sent: Tuesday, October 01, 2002 9:06 PM >Subject: Re: 1985, Grand Wagoneer > > > >the MR 253 (factory service manual) says 10 degrees BTDC +/-1 degree. > >At 04:00 PM 10/1/2002 -0700, Josi De Lesn wrote: > > i been trying to get the correct timing degrees, > > >john > >============================================================= > The just shall live by Faith... >Der Gerechte wird aus Glauben leben... >Mas El Justo vivira Por Fe... >Le Juste vivra par la foi... > > Habakkuk 2:4b, Romans 1:17, Galations 3:11, Hebrews 10:38 > >============================================================= > > Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, >the evidence of things not seen. 'Frying Squad' Swoops on Drivers in Fuel Scam Oct 9, 7:41 am ET LONDON (Reuters) - A Welsh police team dubbed "the Frying Squad" has been formed to sniff out motorists who fuel their cars with cooking oil from fish and chip shops in a bid to avoid paying high government fuel taxes. Three Welsh motorists have already been caught and fined for using waste oil from restaurants selling Britain's favorite deep-fried dish, the Times newspaper reported Wednesday. "I have halved my motoring costs since I started running my Subaru on cooking oil," the paper quoted one of those stopped as saying. "The car runs just as well and even smells a lot better than diesel." Hey, with the delays in the SuperDawg project we're looking at MORE upgrades... :) May have found a Dana 60 for the rear so we may go with 3/4T axles and keep the 1/2T springs for better ride, supplementing the springs with air bags so I can tow a large trailer... also looking at extending the cab back until the step on the bed, shortening the bed around 6 to 8 inches or so, keeping the wheelbase the same, but making the cab large enough to install WJ ('99 and up Grand Cherokee) heated leather seats, if I can find them... :) yee hawwww... The seats and the driveline are the best things about the WJ, just wish it had the same "panascopic vision" that the FSJ's have. :) SuperDawg is going to be comfortable, yet practical... :) john At 06:17 AM 10/9/2002 -0700, Paul and Megan Kershner wrote: >I found this, but didn't find the pics he had. It's not a major leak, but it is steady. First course of action is to make sure I keep the sucker full! IIRC - I can use good synthetic ATF in there, right? I took a caliper and measured the large, flat bolt that plugs the filler/check hole in the t-case, and it looks to be either 30mm or 1 3/16". Does anyone know exactly what size socket I should buy to deal with this? Secondly - how do I fix this leak? Is it possible to replace that seal without taking apart the entire t-case? That is so expensive, I think I would rather refill the t-case frequently. (was Re: Seat options for FSJ's) A: Pull the hoses and backflush the heater after making sure the shut off valve works(gently so it doesn't become an exploding accordian! I use a hose with a shot of air both ways, but no more than 15 lbs pressure) Before you do that though, see if you can switch from defrost to floor with the fan on. If not, then you have no vacuum getting to the flapper that lets the warm air in. (from the black reservoir ball above the motor in mine) I found a crack in my MJ vac ball and just bypassed it (I switch from floor to defrost on hills by stomping the gas!) And this little trick for those with pre-combined AC/Heat controls. If you suffer from frozen toes and clear window or hot toes and frozen glass, but can't get a good blend, take the 3 hoses off the back of your selector switch and join them together with a vacuum tee! I left Elmo like that all winter, and it was so nice to have heat AND defog at the same time (especially at 80 mph at 2AM between places) From: Obi-Wan Subject: Re: Seat options for FSJ's I refilled it myself with a 50:50 mix of fresh Prestone low-tox (propylene glycol) antifreeze just a couple months ago. No leaks. It had been sitting dormant for a couple years, so who knows what happened to the heater core during that time. The engine doesn't run hot, so I know there are no restrictions in the coolant flow passages. I don't remember how well the heater used to work during the one winter before I yanked the engine, unfortunately.
