If I can work the financing out I am going to go for it. Unfortunatley I will need every penny I can get, and I think the wagoneer has to go...just when I fiqured out the charging issues :( Here are the specs. It will officially be on the market when I hear from my bank. 1985 Grand Wagoneer 125,800 miles Selec-Trac. Factory? Power Sunroof Newer (7,000 miles?) 30" perelli (sp?) tires Over all great condition. 360 V8, Auto. I think the engine might be a litlle tired, its not fast by any means but I don't really know how these things are supposed to drive. Normal oil pressure. Gets about 10.8 mpg. Upgraded to big cap TFI dizzy and coil. Engine well maintained by myself and previous (original) owners, lots of receipts and new parts. Radiator, Water Pump, Alternator, Rebuilt Carb, to name a few. It leaks a little oil from valve covers. Transmission is awesome, no slips no noise. Body has a few quarter size spots of rust and one larger spot in the passenger side rear panel. Also has a small dent in the hood. Interior is nice, dirvers seat shows wear. a few cracks in the leather and a small tear in the fabric. passenger side seat has a little crack in the leather. back seat is perfect. Headliner is good but fabric on sliding sunroof cover needs some help. Nice Stereo and speakers. No charging problems! although ammeter doesn't work (not sure what it does anyway :) Fog lights stopped working about 6 months ago? and i don't think the rear defroster works, not sure. Everything else works, all the power stuff, windows, doors, seats, sunroof, back window, cruise, lighter, AC (blows VERY cold), heat, all working fine! Original Paper work from dealer including window sticker. New MSD and used Edlebrock 4 barrel aluminum intake, not istalled, but going with it. I think the only thing thats not original on this thing is the TFI ignition. I will try to get some pictures posted ASAP. Shoot me a email if you, or anyone you know is interested. I will be taking the best reasonable offer. Thanks Guys Dan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Oct 2002 14:23:37 -0700 (PDT) From: Greg Loxtercamp Subject: Re: fsj: Re: Removing the T-Case back cover. Hey, John cc:'d the jeep list...I got his response, with your email address...so I'll respond directly to you. I seperated the transfer case on my '79 a couple time during ownership. I do recall the top/right bolt being an issue. But, I was able to do it...how... Oooh, I just remembered!...to get one bolt out, you have to remove the 'engagement' sensor that is mounted on the top of the TC. This is the sensor that has a wire coming off the top of it. I recall that in removing the wire the first time, I broke the sensor and had to get a new one...so be careful, or don't remove the wire. The sensor takes a big wrench. Use a mirror or a digital camera to get a good view of the situation. You must remove the sensor, though. I do recall that there is nothing too frightning about it once it was open. The only time that parts flew around is when I removed the 2"x4" cover that the 'engagement' sensor screws into...there is a 'ball and spring' detent assy that I had to look for. But, in replacing the chain, you should run into the need to remove that cover. Once you have the case seperated, check out the differential hub. The two output splines should not move without great force (~150ft-lbs). When I cracked my case to check it out...the front brake cone (with the splines) was missing the splines, therefore, I had an open differential. I ended up buying the milemarker 4x2 kit. When I donated the vehicle, I removed 4x2 kit and put back in the 'open' differential hub. I don't have any use for the 4x2 kit (as I'm currently jeep-less) and therefore it is for sale, if you'd like to go that route. I also have the low-range unit, complete with the select lever and linkage. I'd sell both items for $275. The 4x2 kit is complete...all seals, stickers, parts, instructions & box are included. I also have my photocopied '79 factory manual (paid $75 new), that I'd throw in for an extra $25. As John and everybody said...this manual is a must. Good luck...and remove that sensor. Everything will go easy from then on. Once you remove it, a standard socket w/ extension will get you going again. Let me know if you want those parts...my Mom is headed out to my sisters house in Seattle tomorrow (Friday)...I can have her bring them along... When I pointed it out to him the reason for his English Lead'r he was trying to figure out what to replace it with (they're a little hard to come by at a reasonable cost here) I looked and saw he had the uni-pattern GM TH400, so my suggestion was for him to call my local Jeep wrecking yard for an early AMC motor. He found one alright! He got a 401 with the TH400 (someone put a unipattern behind it in a '73) and will now be pumping up his sick kitty! He scored the whole rig for parts for $250!
