I bought one for my both my Commanches and a new one for my '84 J10 (3 row for my 6 cyl, but it's actually for an 8 cyl CJ conversion) for $130 each. I borrowed a rad from John for my J4000 (and I'm sorry haven't had time to get over to Antioch yet. I'm trying to get my Commanche up and running first because the brakes are not yet co-operating at highway speeds on the J4000) From: Dan Black Subject: fsj: radiator I'd still be interested in seeing that other web site if anybody has it, but it's irrelevant now. I just ordered a brand new radiator from radiators.com for $198 including shipping. Their web site has a "conversation" to determine your radiator. I'm 97% sure it's a bot, but it's pretty slick -- there were just a couple tip-offs that it wasn't human. Anyway, in the end, it had one of their employees call me to finish the order, but they kept all the information I had already told the bot, so I didn't have to repeat anything, and they already had the information ready when they called. Again, pretty slick. Anyway, that was impressive, but I still wouldn't have bought from them if the product wasn't right. Turns out they have 3- or 4-core for ours FSJs, of course all metal (copper and brass), lifetime warranty, and she thinks it should even include a drain plug (my last one from a local place, the one with the bad seal around the top, did NOT). Price: $129 for the 3-core, $189 for the four-core, plus $9 shipping -- and that's two-day FedEx. So I ordered the four-core. The only thing I didn't ask was to make sure it had the ATF cooler on the bottom, but since I was looking for the radiator for an '88 Grand Wagoneer and those were not available without the TF727, the only correct replacement would include that, so I'm betting they get it right. Anyway, if anybody's interested, I can let you know how it goes a couple weeks after installation, but barring a bad product, I'd recommend radiator.com if you need a new radiator. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2004 16:38:57 -0400 From: "Neal Hoover" Subject: Re: fsj: radiator fwiw, i installed a GDI (go-Dan) radiator in my XJ. couldn't be happier. i swapped it in because i was (and still am) using the XJ to tow my 6x12 box utility tool trailer on a daily basis. overheating used to be a problem, but not now! I looked at doing something like that to my '73 J4000 because I could not locate any 5 on 5-1/2 lug 12" x 2" drums. I am still in process of converting to a Blazer front axle. Unfortunately my wife keeps making me work on the house instead of my truck. The Raybestos part number you mentioned #2307 comes up as 11" drums. Did you or the PO already do a conversion? I have some CJ caliper brackets (both types) and rotors if you are interested. I also still have the D44 closed knuckle housing if anyone wants it....
