I need to do the same with my J4000 soon, but it can wait till I get the front axle changed. I'll get an adjustable prop valve from Summit since the brakes won't be at factory balance anymore. I won't go through all the details since you can read it yourself, but I will say that I like it except it needs a lift, bigger tires, and less crap around the bottom. And we'll see if they can pull off the different suspension. And the cool part (the "and beyond" from the subject): http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_production.htm Says July 2005: Production startup for a new 7-passenger Jeep ("Wagoneer" or "Commander"). To be based on the 2005 Grand Cherokee platform but with very different sheetmetal. But they've been promising it "in another two years" for what, six or seven years now? So time will tell. Hope they stick with the "Wagoneer" name, not because mine are Wagoneers, but because I prefer the traditional name that implies human/cargo space over a new name that sounds a bit overimposing. And I don't normally like military-sounding names ("Commander", "Defender") despite the Jeep's military heritage. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is it called tourist season if we can't shoot at them? - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 09:19:51 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: fsj: 2005 Grand Cherokee... and beyond looks like the end of the 4.0L. :( john On Tue, 27 Apr 2004, Dan Black wrote: >--> http://www.wkjeeps.com/ >--> >-->Lots of interesting stuff on the new Grand Cherokee ("WK"... abandoning >-->the 'J' lettering?). It looks the same to me. I do see a slight grille variation, but nothing to write home about. Definately nothing to justify a cost differential. Honestly I don't pay much attention to WJ's anymore. Oh I know they've got this cool geegaw and that new dodad, and are a technological wonder, but I would bet that research would show that people DON'T generally buy "the technology" when purchasing a car. They buy them because of the way they look. And to me, Grand Cherokees have always looked like "the generic station wagon" I guess... nothing at all exciting. I still just like my SJ. And I like my MJ though it's really kind of small for me anymore. Still haven't seen anything other than a Land Cruiser or a Sequoia that I would even look at a second time. (like I could ever afford either one of those ) I'm not the least bit interested in radios that read maps, ESPs, DVDs, or gizmo's to make a walkie talkie work in the car. Wouldn't give you another $100 for a package with all of them. But I'm not so old that I didn't get a tickle reading about the Hemi offering. Though I'm starting to find it hard to conceive why someone would pay a premium to have 325hp to go to WalMart... The good news is that with that much power, there should shortly be a plethora of Hemi's available from the scrapyards to transplant into an SJ.... now THAT would be a Jeep! Maybe the new Wagoneer will be interesting looking. Jeepnut Dan Black wrote: > http://www.wkjeeps.com/ > >Lots of interesting stuff on the new Grand Cherokee ("WK"... abandoning >the 'J' lettering?).
