Speedvision had a half-hour review on the Jeep Commander. While it's sort of a half-hour ad, it's still really a typical vehicle review that you'd see on TV. It's _much_ better than the pure ad Jeep did on the Grand Cherokee a few months ago with the somewhat-misleading competition against some cars and all the ultra-cheesy sound effects and annoying flashy jerky camera angles. I put it in http://dsblack.public.iastate.edu/Commander/ If you have QuickTime 7, grab the mp4 version -- it's a much smaller file and noticeably better quality (uses H264 compression). If you don't have QuickTime 7, get it first, and get the mp4. If you absolutely can't get QuickTime 7 for your system, well, that's why the mpg (mpeg1) is there. Yes, I'll put this on the DVD with the "Trucks!" special. (I'll likely even put the Grand Cherokee review/ad on there since there'll be room.) Oh, and the first of the two "Trucks!" episodes with the FSJ Cherokee is still in http://dsblack.public.iastate.edu/Trucks!/ but download it now if you want it -- I want to take these big files off my university account since I have a quota there. It'll all be on the DVD. (And the Dish is set to record the second part next weekend, the 10th and 11th.) As for the actual review and vehicle -- the review was pretty ok (again, much better than the GChero one a few months back). The Commander looks like a winner -- except for the mileage and sticker price, neither of which are mentioned on the show. If you have $50K extra sitting around, buy one new and garage it -- my prediction is that with the mileage and gas prices, the Commander will have disappointing sales, will be taken off the market after a few years at the most, and will become a collector's item, especially in twenty years. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I went out for pizza.
