Tomorrow I hope to be doing a double axle swap in one day (along with a SOA rear) in my '87 Comanche. I have to pull the ones from my son's rig (one that is for sale) and put them in mine after I pull mine out. Rear has to have the spring pads welded on and front will need trimming to get the 4 1/2" front coils in. I'll also be putting ZJ front brakes onto mine and swapping the booster/combo valve to the bigger ZJ one as well. Then I'll need to drop it off at an alignment shop to fix the toe-in and adjust my new upper control arms before my new tires get chewed up or my rig suffers from DW. I hope to get at least part way done on my AW4 conversion as well before my 2 days off are over. Next on the list will be the front axle swap on my '73 J4000 (one from a '76 J20 to match my rear I swapped 2 years ago. I'll have the good closed knuckle D44 with 3.73 and recent all new drum brakes for sale then) along with putting in a lockup 727 and Dodge NP208D (passenger's side drop like the '73's original unipattern TH400 QT with O/D and part time kit that will be for sale along with a "good" used QT for parts) I also have a used '72 TH400 that had a D20 behind it (don't have the front adapter ring or rear adapter sleeve though. I think it's 32 spline) for $50 obo. I have a Chev TH400 to NP208C adapter sleeve I was going to use, but the NP208C I got for parts is 27 spline off a 700R4 (selling that tcase for $35 for parts. Chain is bad) I'm mostly moved now and will be thinning out the herd of parts I have VERY soon (paying storage on them sucks!) build your truck right the first time! From: MagoDragon-at-aol.com Subject: Re: xj: '88 Wagoneer Vibration Thank you all for the suggestions, I brought the Jeep up to Sears and they said it was the track bar that was at fault. I actually brought it to them early last month and had the alignment done and the steering components tightened, at which time they didn't mention anything wrong with the track bar. Today they said that the bushings were worn and that was likely the problem. They wanted me to pay $160 ($120 for the bar, $30 for labor) but I know they only cost about $60, so I think I'll install it myself tomorrow. I believe it is the WOB, I've had it before, though it was several years ago, and I forget what was done to correct the problem. <<>> Since my last posting I had an incident or four that sound oddly similar to this description. I'm guessing it wouldn't be a good idea to try to make a 260-mile drive one way, then the same distance back again, before having it fixed? Heh, I know the answer, probably not, but it's always tempting to hope it'll just randomly fix itself. So, in the end, I am going to install the track bar tomorrow myself. Any suggestions on precautions I should take, other than undoing the two bolts that hold it in and tightening them back after I'm through? Replacing bushings necessary? I plan on just putting it up on jack stands and replacing it, if there are any new or interesting developments, I will keep everyone posted. Wish me luck! Not sure how much I'll be selling this stuff for, but probably -at-$150 plus shipping.
