I may be getting a RHD XJ... a friend has one with a bad tranny... I said, hey, I have an extra one... been trying to sell it... he basically said that he's just going to sell the Jeep... he set the price, I said ok, but he's got to clear it with his wife... My wife was standing right there and didn't object profusely... since I don't plan on keeping it I think we'll be ok with it for a few months... ;) fingers crossed... ;) hoping to get it... it's a white '93. probably has three billion miles on it, but that's ok, it'll be a cool project and will get me to use up more parts I had stashed at Curtis's and keep me from putting my extra 4.0L and AW4 into a '91 Grand Wagoneer that I might also be getting... that my wife doesn't know about... that I'll want to keep along with the '48 Willys, my '83 J10 and my '91 300d... I think we're going to have a slight problem with the vehicle enforcement authority here... not the county or the state, but my lovely bride... :) Remember, (and this is a practice run for my lovely bride...), I didn't go looking for these Jeeps, they just followed me home... really... :) (Yeah, after 30 years she'll see right through it... ;) Actually, they both kind of came looking for me... interesting... both jeeps are white... cool, my wife's jeep is white, painting superdawg white... will paint the willys white... maybe I ought to get the domain whitejeeps.com ;) rofl... problem is I won't be able to keep all of them... and dang it if curtis ain't running out of room down there at his place too... (He's actually talking about "loaning" me some Jeeps to keep himself out of trouble with the local sherrif. ;) (funny, up here it's my wife that limits my collection, down there his wife encourages his collection but the local authorities restrain him... ;) (Curtis, when we get together for your rims, make sure the Aw4 is ready... I suspect the tranny will fit ok in the trunk of the Benz... ;) now... where can I hide the '91 GW? the Willys is getting hidden in the carport... the J10 will be daily driver... still going to try and hold on to the '91 300D... Oh, I don't have a good feeling about this... which ones to keep.... ;) maybe I can borrow some space in my neighbor's barn... hmmm... that's a slight possiblity... :) (Just have to help him push that '64 Cadillac out... anyone interested in a rust free '64 Cadillac... the hay smell is gone, and it was demolded about a year ago... ;) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Nov 2005 18:29:34 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: RE: [db] a leak... sounds good... for a gasser... bruce was saying his ML would do that on the freeway... impressive for both cars... the best I've ever done with one of my Jeeps is about 21mpg... unless of course it was the '85 with the TD... and it "only" did 32mpg on the freeway. 21 in town for the 300ce isn't bad... amazing how efficient the mercedes really are... had my '91 out in the drive while cleaning out my office and carport today, sure looks nice with those Euro headlights... :) glad I found a set. Sure hope my wife will let me keep all these cool sets of wheels I'm running into... ;) don't want to give up the benz or the J10 or the willys and I may just run across a really sweet '91 GW... of course we could sell HER WJ and make the GW hers... that's a possibility... of course if I wanted her to keep it I'd have to secretly fill it up and pay cash to do so... she'd probably have a medical problem is she realized the GW only got about 8 to 10 mpg... ;) they sure are pretty though... ;) john On Sat, 26 Nov 2005, Alec Cordova wrote: >-->No ideas, but I just got a solid 27.5mpg from my 89 300CE gasser with a back >-->and forther from Austin to Houston. The 6.2L isn't nearly as beefy as the later 6.5L. At least make sure you have the fine thread injectors before doing turbo on it! build your truck right the first time! I bid on a new turbo for a 6.2L/6.5L Diesel yesterday, was outbid... the pictures and description indicate it's a new GM turbo. It looks complete and in good shape. Today I got a notice that I have a 2nd chance offer on it. :) I kind of figured the other bidder might back out, he had two feedbacks... I've seen the manifolds (exhaust mainly) and the intake setup pretty reasonable on ebay... Question is, what else do I need to make the turbo complete on the 6.2L? Do I need a different injection pump or is there something to add fuel when boosting??? Is it worth $120 to buy the new turbo, and then another $150 or so for the manifolds? A Banks kit still sells for close to 2 grand... so the basic math is there... and I know from driving both normally aspirated and turbo charged Diesels that there is a MAJOR difference in power, acceleration and ECONOMY... The 6.2L Diesel is a robust and long lived engine, so it's not at risk putting a turbo on it... four bolt main, roller lifter cam... beefy webs in the block... (insert Tim Allen grunt here)... so what's my problem? this makes sense... :) Silly turbos cost three times that to rebuild... this is a no-brainer... right??? :) thanx, you guys have been a great help... (I'll wait until later to actually close the deal, so there is time for you to talk me back out of it... ;) john ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Nov 2005 17:22:23 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: all weather, all the time... :) we have all the weather, all the time... from a dusting of snow to sunbreaks, all in one day... multiple car crash in I-5 about 25 miles north of here, 30 cars involved... it's cold out there... must be about 40 degrees... ;) woke up to snow on the Jeep this morning... but not on the driveway.. we'll see what tomorrow brings... I may have to steal the wife's WJ to get to work... really need SuperDawg... :) john here's the weather report: (notice the "sunbreaks" :) With the snow level at just 1000 feet, it's easy for a heavy showers to drag the cold air down to the surface. That's why you see white on lawns on one block, and just down the street nothing at all. For the rest of Sunday you will see increasing sunbreaks and just a few lingering showers. Highs will be on the cool side, with highs only making it to the low to mid 40s. Showers increase again on Monday. The large area of cool air will still being hovering over western Washington so highs will stay in the low 40s and overnight lows will continue to flirt with the freezing mark. This will be the pattern for entire workweek. We could have some challenging commutes this week as that rain/snow mix could be back for the early morning hours. http://www.komotv.com/weather/ ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Nov 2005 22:56:24 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: a beautiful J10 wow... that's beautiful... http://wagoneers.com/tmp/charles-j10-FarmPics2005043.jpg http://wagoneers.com/tmp/charles-Honcho.jpg will move them to the FSJ directory later, have more? :) john On Sun, 27 Nov 2005, Charles Ruechel wrote: >--> >--> >--> >--> >--> >-->John, >-->I had a few minutes so here is a good look at the honcho. >-->Charles >--> >--> ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #2545 **************************
