I'm a new member, after having just bought an '89 GW from Mr. Wagoneer himself, John Meister. Anyhow, Greg, if you're reading this, John suggested I contact you to see if you still have the carb from Old Blue I, as Old Blue II is in need of a new one. Let me know, if you get a chance. thanks, Jeremy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Mar 2008 01:09:54 +0000 From: michel balea Subject: fsj: OT: Linux feisty and XP Remember my slow start.... no virus.... well until i decided to change the antivirus software, I was tired to hear mcafee take over, so i went to AVG. Digging into the boot loader.... I found the wait time set at 30. The first glitch was : Hal.dll file is missing... and at this point i am locked out from writing or transfering anything from the D drive to the C drive, either w XP recovery or Linux feisty, I get the "access denied" in XP and cannot copy file w Linux. I have scanned the web for ideas.... even went down to the local computer store w the PC so they can the error message. The store with young guys that seem to be knowing what they do... if you can understand them.... all i got was a blank stare.... just like asking for a part for a 68 wagoneer w 327. All i have to do is write the boot.ini file (my own mistake here)... It went fine into partition (1), but not into partition (2), All i get is access denied... no matter what i do (w linux or XP cd). Same when try to expand the hal.dll file from D to C Any ideas would be welcome to save that omnibook XE4100 w XP home ed, sp2 I was told to pull the HD and mount it on as am external drive... I do not have parts to do this.... nor do i have a spare PC.... well i have an old thinkpad running windows 95, I have ms-dos 3.3 as well as windows 98 install CD, that came w the PC and XP pro... loaned by my son.... No traces of XP home edition.
