Hi all ! We'll get the answer "soon" (in 1 about year) ! ;o) Look at this: "Air Car to Compete for the Automotive XPrize Zero Pollution Motors and MDI are excited to announce that they are among the first teams to commit to participate in the multi-million dollar Automotive XPrize competition. The goal of the XPrize competition is to inspire a new generation of viable, super-efficient vehicles with over 100 MPG equivalent." http://zeropollutionmotors.us/?page_id=4 "Automotive XPrize DRAFT COMPETITION GUIDELINES" http://www.progressiveautoxprize.org/downloads/AXP_Draft_Competition_Guidelin es_20070402.pdf MDI presents its technology at the New York Motor Show http://www.mdi.lu/eng/affiche_eng.php?page=communique3 Video - Time: 7:16 - MDI OneCATs unveiled ! http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=dcyBCCKs0DQ The Automotive XPrize is a very exciting idea ! We'll be able to compare many potential solutions to move efficiently... Air cars are certainly not THE solution but a part of the puzzle. ;o) - ----- Sir Arthur C. Clarke Arthur, just passed, one of the greatest visionaries and inventors of our time, once said, there are three phases to a great idea: "The first phase is when people tell you it's a crazy idea, it will never work; the second phase is when people say, it might work, but it's not worth doing; and the third phase is when people say, I told you that was a great idea all along!" I think I'm going to get the gel cell top posts and lay them on their sides in those battery trays. Also might move the trays back a bit so I can get nerf bars / side rails attached. I think that one of the batteries was defective all along... this thing has never cranked right... and the automatic battery charger was always running after it was charged up... was thinking that my alarm system was bad or something was drawing current... and if I left the battery charger off the battery wasn't good... so I suspect that one of these batteries, the one that exploded (my first clue) was bad all along. So, I think I'm going to head over to interstate and pick up a couple of large gel cell top posts and change over the connectors. will return the two exides later... not a problem having extra batteries around. :) I'm also thinking that I'm going to put a small battery in the original location with an isolator and use that for the lights and the alarm system so my main batteries aren't used except for starting. I did this on my '85 XJ turbo Diesel as well, worked out well, was even able to jump start myself. ;) I have an older gel cell that might work... two steps backward, one forward... :) need to change the oil on my '91 300D... picked up the oil yesterday... john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Mar 2008 13:52:49 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: fsj: adventures with batteries found out these were the batteries from the 3/4T wrecked GMC, probably out of warranty... we'll see, they look new... picked up to interstate european style top posts that should work, will help my cranking capability without a doubt. john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3035 **************************
