You'd be amazed at what is flying on the roadways.... the rebar was trapped in the emergency brake cable and took a piece of the brake backing plate cable bushing/connector. Ladders are very common. Luckily the wagoneers ride above those small pesky devices. About 10 years ago a bay area driver was killed by a starter that flew thru her windshield (a small car). Our neighbors had a complete wheel coming boucing above the median, and crashed into their windshield... totaling their toy celica.
