They're easy to convert to 4wd, the front out of an '80's Waggy and a 208 transfer case will bolt right in place. - - Does this mean that the front of the CJ-10A is the same width as a Wagoneer instead of a J10? I've got an extra NP208 laying around... I could probably scare up a GW front axle somewhere and regear the Dana 70 over at Randy's Ring and Pinion... sounds like an amazingly painless setup into 4x4 mode... this sounds too good to be true... ;) - - Next question, are the leaf springs on the back of the CJ-10A similar to a GW or a J10? thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://johnmeister.com/fotomeister - Trust Jesus: http://freegift.com SAVE power, avoid viruses, use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Dec 2008 13:33:12 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: Re: [db] CJ10! yep... but I got one of the Diesels in a Jeep... ;) I wonder if the turbo could be added to this engine... can hardly wait to see what this thing looks like, have all kinds of possible frankenstein ideas racing through my head... with optional plans of transplant, or was that the original plan? :) we'll see, the first test drive will help make up my mind... and how much work to build one reliable, economical Diesel powered jeep... whether cj10 or j10, I don't care... ...making the cj10 practical might involve grafting on the back end of an XJ or a Willys panel... we'll see what the dimensions are... extending the cab of the cj10 seems like it might be doable... :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://johnmeister.com/fotomeister - Trust Jesus: http://freegift.com SAVE power, avoid viruses, use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf SAVE fuel, use synthetics: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sun, 7 Dec 2008, Tom H wrote: # john wrote: # > This engine will bolt right into my J10... it's the non-turbo. # > Interestingly enough the turbo is 103hp, while the non-turbo is 94hp. # > not a radical difference. :) # > # John: # # I believe that is because the Nissan Turbo only adds air to the formula, not # fuel unlike the Mercedes diesels. # # Oh yeah, did I mention that this engine was available in Scouts from 1976/77 # to 1980, with the final year being the turbo version?
