That's a funny thought...seems like I have been using it forever. # # Here's some thoughts from a user today. wagoneers.com I have found is very searchable...I don't think that was the case a decade ago. Whenever I ask about something like your carport upgrades or pics of Superdawg's body coming off it doesn't take long to find them. This feature is good. THANX... # Some of your picture pages are too large to load all the pictures on my system. So I'll get half a page of x-ed out pics. I have gone into the index and loaded the pics individually if there was some detail I was looking for. Less pics on a page might work better for my system. I am running a middle of the road DSL modem (I think this is my bottle-neck) and I am running 2 GB of ram (an upgrade...had only .5GB) and a 3.46 gHz Intel Celeron processor. I am running Firefox with Windows. I like the resolution of the pics (I know you have been running high end digital cameras for better than a decade) so that I can zoom in on some little detail on pic. I have lately been creating an "ALL.html" file, and using a README.html file, avoiding locked in index.html files... # # I like the idea of cleaning up some of the visual clutter/fluff. The most necessary stuff for me is pics of your projects, the second that is not critical, but is interesting is stuff like pics of your trip to Idaho to get a diesel. # # So that's some perspective from the other side. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Nov 2009 21:34:15 -0800 From: john Subject: fsj: Diesel + Jeep = popcorn adventure Alternate title: Or, why I should not be left unsupervised with an internet connection. REQUIRED FOR VIEWING: Firefox, internet, and popcorn (butter opt.)... no sawzall required. While waiting for superdawg to be reassembled (SD33T/TF727/Np208), I've sort of, every now and then... looked on craigslist... Stumbled upon a non-running '89 XJ Cherokee Limited with factory leather seats and power sunroof... Likely a bad map sensor... owner thinks it's the TPS or trans computer. It was being driven daily and as you can see from the pictures, it's in superb condition for having 212,000 miles (have owned 12 xjs, all but 3 have had over 200k!) http://wagoneers.com/tmp/XJ/ALL.html the rear wiper, power sunroof, power seats, windows and locks ALL work... has a cracked windshield... no battery, no stereo... all for 4c notes. The plan is to get the XJ running, in the parking lot, in the rain, 50 miles from the house. Then drive it home... If I like it, may proceed to the REAL popcorn event, in that I may attempt to SWAP the entire drive train between the CJ-10A and the XJ. Provided they are about the same size... Does anyone know if an SD33T is about the same height/length as a Jeep 4.0/4.2 engine? The big question is whether or not it'll clear the hood height-wise and if it'll fit in the engine bay and still have a fan. Of course, if SUPERDAWG is put back together before I can begin this Snohomish Monster Carport project, I'll just fix up the XJ and sell it to help pay for the wedding that happened in August... - -- ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Nov 2009 10:29:23 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: Re: xj: RE: fsj: Diesel + Jeep = popcorn adventure thanx... the more info I have before driving 50 miles down there the better... I figure it's better to spend an hour or two in the rain in the parking lot with parts than paying to use a tow dolly and finding out that I could have fixed it by reconnecting a vacuum line. :) going to take the 300D down for the first run... if I can't get it going, will rent a dolly and come back with the WJ to retrieve it... it's in an apartment parking lot, rain is predicted... going down with a mechanical engineering friend from grad school, he's stuffing a 6.2 in his '56 willys panel and we've been doing some wrenching together... he's also 6'3" so he'll be able to reach stuff under the hood that I can't. ;) Thinking MAP sensor, vacuum lines, CPS, TPS, starting fluid, battery... It need brakes, has no battery or tape deck. Update- My dad just told me the the Transmission computer is not working properly. The TPS won't send the signal to it to tell it to start.
