I've had to mitigate a lot of these issues when I worked at Ford. The best way to fix the arm rest issue is to replace the metal hooks in the door with well nuts after lubing the window regulators so the glass doesn't jam. The vacuum pumps are cheap enough to buy an extra to keep on board in a hermetically sealed bag so you will never need it. (Murphy's constant: It won't break down if you are prepared for it until you forget and take the part and/or tools from your vehicle) Brake boosters are about every 70,000 miles on those too. Leaky fuel lines are always fun (Just yesterday I sold a customer the return hose kit with all those plastic elbows that break. About $80 IIRC) Now I have to find out why a Subaru will run until I pull a plug wire loose from the coil (which causes instant shutdown and weak spark afterwards so it won't start till the motor is cold again) I have to drag my son's '76 DJ-5 (CJ with DJ body) to my place so I can advertise it on CL, It's a $600 project rig that would have done well hauling WVO before he changed the springs for "lift" but he forgot about length! I've bought several rigs and projects from folks down there... I think our friend jim has issues with the authorities, I think they realize he's a foreigner and can be pushed around... ;) there are places around these parts that make it very hard to do projects, for instance Mill Creek... it's a city... bascially they have a home owner's association that has incorporated... you are penalized if you leave your trash can out front for more than two hours after pickup, you get in trouble if you leave your garage door open, heaven help you if you park an Rv on the street... but at the same time you could have many cars in the back yard behind a fence and they'll leave you alone... I went over to one guy's place in Mill Creek and he has a dozen cars behind his house... he had a fence that blocked the view from the street... Snohomish County has some ordinances, one of my other friends is likely responsible... ;) but you can have something like 10 cars behind a fence and you're ok, maybe it's 20... hard to say, you could google their requirements, but overall if you're in a rural area and keep things from plain view on the street and you don't irritate your neighbors or say "eh" (wink) you'll be fine.
