Diesel, (that's all it needs really) 5 speed with a/c! http://wagoneers.com/tmp/vw/ALL.html heading over to look at it in a few minutes... 45 mpg and able to easily load and haul WVO and bioD! whoo hoo... I've had a couple of these before... they even do well in snow, with the right tires this could make it out of my driveway in reverse. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 2010 14:08:35 -0800 (PST) From: diesel john Subject: fsj: VW Diesel pickup just got home with a 1981 Diesel VW Pickup, 5 speed, with a/c! no rust... solid engine, lots up recent service, new head/gasket, glowplugs, timing belt and so on... needs cv joints bad... front tires needed, no muffler, needs the stereo hooked up, mirrors fixed... paint is pretty bad, windshield cracked... but it made the 45 mile trip home on I-5... http://wagoneers.com/tmp/vw/ALL.html heading out to pick up 2 wks worth of WVO from Juanita, then back home to get about a months worth and head up SR9 to drop it off and pickup some BioDiesel... The last VW Pickup I had was an '80, didn't have a/c and only had a 4spd. this one has a lot of potential... Hey Jon, I need some VW parts ASAP... sun visor, headliner... :) what's the best place to get the cv half shafts? also first gear linkage needs to be replaced... a little challenging to find first, the rest of the gears are fine. not sure how big the tank is on this thing, has 400 miles on the trip odometer and the gauge is still between 1/2 and 1/4. The driver's seat provides excellent lumbar support, no problems whatsoever!
