Just pull the fuse and run it as a regular brake system. I had an early 90's Saturn that cooked it's ABS system. That car had a habit of the ABS light would come on, and shortly thereafter the dash lights would flicker and then I would be dead on the side of the road, usually with a seized alternator. It would never give much advance notice either. I pulled the fuse and it was fine. An added benefit was that the ABS on that car was so bad that once the fuse was out I could stop the car far more quickly on ice without it. That was the worst car I ever had. Spun a bearing at 79,000 miles. I don't miss working on that car at all. My attitude about computerizing a car is that the computer is going to be second guessing me it had better be smarter or better than me. In the case of that Saturn's ABS it was slower and stupider than me. On the other hand I like the mid 90's fuel injection on my Dakota just fine. It works better than I can set a carburetor to the point where I am toying with injecting the Wag. Diesel Rabbit pickup eh? I had a friend in college with a Diesel Rabbit. had a lot of miles on it and was as slow as molasses in january, rusty too, but it was a decently reliable car. The exhaust was easy to replace on it with those two spring clamps...rock it left, rock it right and it came off at the manifold. When the glow plugs went in the middle of a New England winter we put it on a strap behind the Wag and towed it in gear about a half a mile before it actually fired. That car got great mileage though. After a blown head gasket that car did some time on a U-haul trailer behind my Wag...from upstate New York back to Boston. I don't miss working on that car either. I am very nervous about letting this abs system loose in the general population. I will try pulling the fuses for it, but I think it will still have too much brake boost and just lock up the front brakes. Odd problem for an xj, usually not enough brakes. trying to come up with a name for the little pickup. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sun, 17 Jan 2010, wallacem7-at-aol.com wrote: # I have a simple solution to late 80's, early 90's ABS.
