Have 14" rims... have plans to use the jeep for snow... so these tires are mainly for ride, economy and wet roads... wouldn't mind an agressive tread for traction though... noise isn't much of a concern. :) this is what shows up on one website as options.. will be going to Discount Tire in Everett in the morning Plus One 185/60-14 195/60-14 205/55-14 thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jan 2010 12:20:52 -0800 (PST) From: diesel john Subject: fsj: an interesting "ride"... http://www.gamaniak.com/video/3625 This was filmed in Switzerland, on the Grimselpass, around 7000 feet... GRIMSELPASS, yes, I recognized this road... drove it in a '67 Mustang in 1976. We were camping on the Thunsee in Interlachen and then drove over Grimselpass to the south and back around toward Genevia and then back up to Basel to go back to Frankfurt. wild ride... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Grimselpass,+Switzerland&sll=46.557208,8.357334&sspn=0.042022,0.109177&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Grimsel+Pass,+Grimsel+Passh%C3%B6he+3999+Oberwald,+Goms,+Valais,+Switzerland&ll=46.56249,8.345146&spn=0.021009,0.054588&t=p&z=15 ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sat, 23 Jan 2010, Weigand, Gregory L wrote: # Subject: FW: Fw: What a RIDE! # watch it all...this guy is crazy.... # Don't think I would have the nerve, but it looks awesome to me. # # I wonder if this guy is still alive??? # # What does the California Highway Patrol Officer say when he pulls this guy over and says, "Ok, step out of the . . . . ummmmm ?" I bought a set of "bottle cap" factory vw rims last night, so I'm just going to get two 185/60 14s to put on the front, the rear tires are in excellent shape and a bit wider, good for hauling WVO. new tires all mounted are going to run me $200 give or take no matter where I go... looking on CL for some used one... ran across a guy on CL who had a number of spare parts I needed for cheap... and he fixed my parking brake... sweet... turns out most of the NOISE was coming from bad wheel bearings and cvs, the wrong air filter and no air intake muffler and no muffler... truck is becoming more civilized every time I come near it with tools and parts... still need the shift linkage for a 5speed. some clod welded the adjustable linkage... need a search party for first gear... ;) downshifting to 2nd, on hills... is embarrassing... :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sat, 23 Jan 2010, Tom Moulder wrote: # I find everything I ever wanted to know about tires, including wet and dry # traction, longevity, dimensions and virtually all manufacturers from Tire # Rack. But that # was a long time ago and they are probably more competitive now. Anywho, check # out TireRack.com first - no matter where you end up buying them. Search by # size as they don't have a Rabbit Truck listed (though an '81 Rabbit is) and, # oddly enough, they don't carry truck tires in the sizes you listed. I guess # 15" is the standard starting point for truck tires, but if 14" are plus ones, # you would have to go to plus 2's.
