The jell keeps it place! You may try this as it is cheaper than citric acid. Also...it seems funny but regular coke (yes the cola with a smile....) or ginger ale have phosphoric acid as a major component. These both have a lower pH (more acidic) than vinegar and citric acid. If you want to up the acidity, you can always try muriatic acid. It's commonly available as a pool chemical or concrete cleaner. PLEASE use caution if you go this route.... Fumes are dangerous and it can burn the skin. Have the hose rrady to wash/dilute the run-off. I hope this gives you some other options. Cheers K- Kelly D.
