But yes, the vents on the hood indicate a 5.9 v8, 1998. Since it's the chrysler 360 I can't imagine it being that uncontrollable, on of the guys at work has one been meaning to compare between stoplights. My guess is the 4.7 in the wj will leave that push rod mopar behind, but likely not by much. Will ck specs on 0-60. But either way, it's a cable throttle setup, most likely operator error. Probably having some fun spinning the wet tires and it hooked up on him. - ------Original Message------ From: john Sender: owner-fsj-at-digest.net To: xj Cc: Ed Kummel Cc: FSJ ReplyTo: john Subject: fsj: Re: xj: They're trying to blame the Jeep Sent: Dec 30, 2010 15:54 it's the 5.9L V8 ZJ, only made them in 1998. have never heard of any mechanical issues with these... my guess is it's operator error... he probably tromped on it and lost control, or slipped off the brake pedal... either way, a tragedy... I picked up some longer ones and some nylon bushings to hold the plate out... QUESTION, should the plate actually touch the rim or is it ok for that locking plate to stand off of the rim? I have to buy 10 bolts, spacers and washers... already spent $70 on the little lug nut clamp things. stopped at one tire shop, they weren't much help, but said they will special order them in and they work well, but they're spendy... close to $500, I picked these up barely used, albeit missing a few bits, for $100 from a guy selling a car with the same size tires. What's nice is that these will work on my '03 Jetta and my '91 300D, same size tires... of course I'll have to move the mounting flanges, or scare up another set... thankfully I have the WJ if it should snow, but while cold the next event is rain in a few days... sure the tabs are expired and I couldn't find any place that would take my money... but it did pass emissions now that I replaced the cap. :) seems like we mention something might happen, and it does... tonight we were moving vehicles around in the drive, my son didn't want to start his benz so he told me to push it, I said no way, I'll hurt my back (again), so he starts pushing (instead of starting it) and I say, look out for the trailer canopy... you're heading right ... crunch... for it... well, no damage to my canopy (original J10 dealer option), but there is a new racing stripe/indent on his '85 300d... so I'm wondering, if I mention winning the lottery will it work with a lottery ticket? ;) (yeah, right. ;) I did put the WJ back in the carport, although I had delusions of washing it first... went for a drive up along the sound from US 20 by Anacortes up to 11 and along the Chuckanut Drive... it's the only place where the Cascades touch the Pacific Ocean, nice rock outcroppings, definetly not a high speed road. Pictures to follow, will be at: http://fotomeister.us/2010/12-Dec-31-Chuckanut-Drive/ALL.html the TDI is getting decent mileage from a quick guess... have around 400 miles on it so far and just at 1/2 tank, that should put it in the high 40's, low 50's... this is combined, heavy city (Seattle) traffic, rural and a little on I-5/405, been shifting around 2,200 rpm and keeping my foot out of the injection pump... stabbed it once or twice on I-5... oh man does that 11mm pump pull hard in 5th gear at 60 to 70 mph... it'll jump to 80 mpg quickly... pulled the grade out of Mt.Vernon on I-5 at 70 in cruise control in 5th gear... my 300D has to work up that grade... the WJ loafs up it of course... even pulling a trailer... got to love that 4.7L V8... haven't decided on tomorrow's adventure yet... taking it one day at a time... :) oh yeah, managed to have a piece of Popeye's chicken in Burlington, then goofed off on the back roads up to Bellingham, and then had a Boomer's burger before heading back down I-5. ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # trying to mount my spider spikes, they came without all # the hardware, have the compression nuts for the lug nuts # but the bolts are a bit too short to secure the plate. # # I picked up some longer ones and some nylon bushings to hold # the plate out... # # QUESTION, should the plate actually touch the rim or is it ok # for that locking plate to stand off of the rim?
