Pictures? Have done oil pumps on 4.2 and 4.0 and don't recall this issue. If jim also isn't aware then this isn't a normal issue. :) - ------Original Message------ From: Jim Blair-email Sender: owner-fsj-at-digest.net To: ltesar3421-at-sbcglobal.net To: fsj-digest-at-digest.net ReplyTo: Jim Blair-email Subject: RE: fsj: 4.2 Oil Pump, Tabbed / no Tabbed Sent: Jan 24, 2011 08:44 On that, I don't know for sure. Just happened to be perusing the shop manual at oljeep.com to get the rod bearing torque value (33 lbs) and found that RED means .010 undersize journal! Had to revise the order for the rod bearing set. But they're actually cheaper. I checked with a caliper and sure enough, came out within spec. ^PCool! Onward to the rear main seal. Did discover that if the block is upside down and no oil filter is installed, pouring a little oil in the pump inlet hole will not make the oil dribble through the block, it goes to the oil filter housing and spills out and makes a mess on the floor of the garage. - - Landon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Jan 2011 15:59:37 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: the car of the future http://www.flixxy.com/gm-hy-wire-concept-car.htm hmmmm... we could just bolt on one of our old vehicles and call it good... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #3691 **************************
