Can you folks in the know on your local meets PLEASE get in the habit of copying me directly (ambassador-at-bigfoot.com) with meet info? =A0 I'd like to make this as comprehensive a listing as is possible. Send the notice directly to me - -- a few people have sent them to the AMC-List in response to my postings, not to me -- sometimes I don't have time to read the digests every day and have to delete them, unread. So if you posted your event notice and it's not here, SEND IT TO ME DIRECTLY! If You sent it and it didn't appear in this list, SEND IT AGAIN. =A0 I'm part human, you know. One last comment: it does me little good to get meet flyers in the mail; as this means I have to take time typing in information on my computer that someone else has already typed in to their own computer; and for me typing is a time-consuming operation. Please cut-and-paste the text of your flyers into an email message and send it to me that way; so that I can just cut-and-paste into this directory with a minumum of work. They figured it didn't take a rocket scientist to install this basic bit of heating hardware, so instead of hiring a professional, they brought the stove home and installed it themselves. - - They even remembered to cut a hole through the ceiling for the chimney vent. Unfortunately they neglected to extend the chimney through the attic to the roof. Pleased with a job well done, they settled down to a cozy evening in front of the fire. The inevitable happened. The heat and sparks built up in the attic and set their home ablaze, providing an unexpected source of warmth from above. - - Snohomish County firefighters extinguished the fire, and the couple returned to their home to console each other over their $8000 loss. But the fire was not quite out. Firefighters had failed to fully extinguish the fire, which started up again the next morning, burning the house to the ground. And about the only thing that is gonna fit in that rig without serious and expensive modifications. You'll need to redo the front radiator support and "rearrange" the firewall to put a larger engine in, it's doable, and been done... The 87 and up models are easier to swap larger engines in because the two limiting factors are already taken care of to put the 4.0L in. :) Jeep did offer a Diesel, a 2.1L Turbo Diesel, made by the french... renault... it was lucky to make the stock 205 sized tires go. 39" in an XJ is gonna require lots of lift and hacking of the body... I think the largest I've personally seen is 35 or 36". I've got 30x9.5's on mine and have crawled on rocky trails just fine... with only 2 inches of lift and a 4.0L. I did have a locker and it made a lot of difference, but bigger tires would have been better... I'd say you've got a dream... Question is do you have the money, skill and resources to pull it off? While what you say is possible, it might be easier to get where you're going with a Full Size Jeep, an old Wagoneer, Cherokee or J truck. THey'll easily handle a big healthy V-8 and big tires with a lot less hassle than an xj... That way you could keep your nice little 2.5L purring economically along chasing parts for your project rig. :) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com **** http://wagoneers.com don't leave life without Jesus, please...
