Everything is fine with vehicles, family, friends, work, etc. :) I made it back from the land of swamps, sand and no espresso stands just fine... I've remained in digest mode, lurking half-heartedly... I'm enjoying not reading 250 emails a day... :) I'm getting ready to build a garage... I'm actually spending time with my family... I'm also working on computers... in fact, just got a search engine functioning on WAGONEERS.COM!!! BTW, while is was in the Linux class I got "slash-dotted". For you non-nerds out there that means my site was listed as site of the day and got hammered on worldwide... sheesh... my log files ballooned... The story that got it was the one about the RocketCar in the pages directory... I ain't putting the link here, you'll have to find it on your own... ;) Anyways... gonna work on the search engine a bit more... I may put one in each of the digests directories so we can find stuff more readily. Cool stuff. :) ttyl, john - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com/UNIX from Snohomish, Washington reminding you not to leave life without Jesus. ============================================================================= Microsoft Certified Professionals are to the computing industry what McDonald Certified Food Specialists are to gourmet restaurants. The cool thing is that I can use a lot of stuff I have been collecting for the past 3 years. Anyway... I've notices that ALL the top u-joints on the steering shafts I have seen have slop in them. Do any of you know of a good source for HD replacement steering shaft U-joints? I would pay about $50 for one but $90. is out of the question! Any other thoughts??? Also, I'm going to need EFI sometime in the future. I'm done with Holley (unless I can find a 4Di system cheep on Ebay). I'm thinking that the Howell, with the GM TBI might be a better option. I can get all but a few parts from the U-Pull-It place. The last time I checked Mr. Baxter was working on something (with the Ford system?). How's that going??? For my '90 GW: - - driver's side dome light switch (3 pin connector, not like my '84!) - - glove box door (lock's busted on mine, I guess a lock/latch would suffice) - - right rear door armrest, burgundy with screws - - rear dome light lens Oh, and could someone tell me the following: - - Did all the '90s have keyless entry? Would be nice to acquire a fob. - - Where is the sender for the roof console thermometer? ___________________________________________________ Cheers- William "Chip" Lamb West of Sweden SAAB Charles City, VA. http://www.wmsbrg.com/sweden/ ___________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2000 23:39:48 EDT From: DizzyCow31-at-aol.com Subject: fsj: she died well about 7 months ago i bought a 79 waggy (360/auto)three days ago it passed from this world. wile driveing on one of my favorite back roads (about 45)a deer jumped out in front of me , wile swerving my passenger caught the road side ditchand flung me off down the hill. after about 7or 8 rolls i came to a bone breaking stop against a tree almost spliting my beloved in half . i walked away with only a few bruses she will be missed, but life goes on .im replaceing her with a dj-5d (postaj jeep)gess i cant really say replace but anyway. im in need of some help i want to make it a 4x4 can she donate ?(quadratrack) if so dose her 360 go with postal came with 232i6 with a limted slip dana 44 727torque flight tranny any help would be helpful chris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2000 20:56:13 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: fsj: search engines working... ---- http://wagoneers.com/search.html http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/search.html http://wagoneers.com/XJ/search.html http://wagoneers.com/DieselBenz/search.html ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com **** http://wagoneers.com don't leave life without Jesus, please... Sounds like a pretty scary ride!! Thank your lucky stars that you were in a Wag..probably saved your life... Wildlife is a real concern when you get onto a main dirt road and the speed creeps up..I've had several deer run across the road _right_ in front of me.. had coyotes dart out of the bush, and then run back in, had bears lope across the road while I was at high speed...even ran one over up around Ft Mcmurray Alta.. had to make a choice between the mother and the two year old cub..I choice the cub. Even though the cub still stood barely the height of my hood ( F250 truck and camper I used to have), ( the mother was higher than the hood and front spare tire mounted in the front)..is still gave me the shakes for half an hour after words.. any of these incidents could have had the same result as yours..only, in my TJ I think I would not fair as well as you did... :( Every time I get back home after a trail ride, easy or hard, I say a little thank you under my breath that everything turned out OK..... I'd wait and see if they'll put one in a 2001 Tahoe if you can. The new engine is a joint development with Isuzu and will reportedly easily topple the curren= t king of the hill in light truck diesels, the Ford Powerstroke/Navistar engine. I had a delivery truck, an Isuzu diesel, break-down in Winnemucca, NV yesterday. But it was a fuel problem. They got a bad tank of fuel Elko= , NV. Changed the filter and all was well again. We carry spare filters and= a filter wrench in the trucks now. With diesel, it's only a matter of time before you get a load of fuel with a bunch of water in it or something growing. Used to put an additive in our jet fuel to keep stuff from growi= ng in it and plugging up our fuel systems. I'm about to buy another new truck and it will again be a Isuzu/GMC Forward. I run '96 high boxes so we can stand 7' 1/2" sofas on end on in them and they still get more than 12 MPG. I had one that broke a piston ring on #1 at 177,000 miles which I felt was a little early but, I have another one with that many miles on it now (the one which broke-down yesterday) and it's doing fine.
