It's mainly an FSJ thing, but I've decided to put all the Fest stuff and all the trail stuff in one place. I created links from both the XJ and the FSJ sites so fests and trails will lead you to the JEEPS directory. :) Tom, if for some reason I do end up down there for any "discussions", the tri-tip sandwich is on me this time... ;) My wife's friend said it's dry there... I remember it being mostly green until you get up into the foothills, right? I don't think anything is gonna happen, we'll see... the money would have to be real serious to cover a comparable house... do they even have 1/2 acre lots down there that a commoner can afford? ;) Anyway, it's gonna be a tough sell... especially considering the hassle I'd have getting Superdawg through emissions... he has almost nothing left from all the emissions stuff... no cat convertor... no computer stuff... I do have the EGR hooked up, and the PCV... but that's it... I suppose I could gather the pieces and glue them in place... ;) I suppose if I installed the 4.0L with all it's emissions that I could get it certified pretty easily. Anyway, enjoy the story... it's been off line for almost three years! john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com **** http://wagoneers.com don't leave life without Jesus, please... The inspection station will send me to a referee and it'll be certified if I have all the factory emissions in place. The reasons are because it'll be the same make and a newer, less polluting engine. Whit got his 350 Chevy approved in his XJ for the latter reason only. Also, Super Ken got his certified with a newer Chevy engine... of course it doesn't matter now since it's too old. If you MODIFY your 4.2L, then yes, you'll need the MPI setup, that's what Tom did down in Santa Barbara. But, regardless of what you might think, some things actually make sense down there... :) Still will be a pain... but hey... the chance of it all working out is pretty slim... I like it green and cool. While SB may average 65 to 75 most of the time, it was in the 80s when I was down there in March... It is one of the few places I'll consider in CA though... that and northern CA... john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com **** http://wagoneers.com don't leave life without Jesus, please... They bolt in, they're the right color, they have the right electrical connections, but the buckle is SLIGHTLY different. The old-style latch plate will hook into and latch up with the new-style receiver, but the new plates are too big for the old receivers. Okay, now here's a question... where does the line to the coffee can hook into the vacuum network? I've looked at diagram after diagram and found all the engine control stuff, but nothing that ever shows where the vacuum line to the big storage canister comes from... and I'm trying to troubleshoot my cruise :) Clark Novak 87 GW ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jun 2000 12:24:12 EDT From: Brazzadog-at-aol.com Subject: fsj: Mobil 1 gear lube Anybody got any opinions on it's use in a limited slip diff without using any other special additive? When we bought the '88 Bronco a few weeks ago the guy said he'd had the A/C recharged and a new clutch put on the compressor. My immediate thought was that the A/C was gonna need work. Just when I thought maybe it was gonna be okay, it's kaput. The clutch is cycling about every 15 seconds and there is no cold - to speak of. I'm guessing that the lost refrigerant causes the clutch to cycle too often and this is what caused the previous clutch to fail. Hopefully it's not too late for this clutch. Seems like the answer is to find the leaks first, then get the recharge and clutch taken care of. Am I on the right track here?
