Or as a mac support tech said to me once, 'Static / Schmatic' I hooked up a jumper from the sending unit plate to the frame, and we now have a working gas guage. Cheap fuel pump blockoff plate does not work with supplied gasket, still leaks out the bottom, so I made a gasket with some old RTV. Found a leak near the end of the vapor purge metal line, so cut it off and routed a 3/16 line to the back of the carb. Also, someone had covered up a leak near the end of the fuel return metal line by clamping rubber line over it. JP magazine calls it 'old man engineering' So cut it off and routed a B< rubber line from the fuel filter. A little slow to start without a choke, but truck is running very well now, even with the old 258 in it. A 12 ga black wire with a ring connector on it under the dash has been loose since I've owned it, it is tied into some brown? wires that look like they might come from the guage cluster, I put it to ground on the steering column, and the dash lights are behaving better.... Backup lights are not working, Hey there's a loose connector nestled in the frame, I wonder.....ah, a white wire with a tracer cut in two, wonder why? Yes, that's the power feed. Oh good. Where is the switch? Found on the T18, top rear towards the driver, what a mess, got it off with a 7/8 6pt socket, pins are sheared off. Wonder how that happened? Geez, plug wires on RockAuto are cheap, bought AC Delco brand, will let you know what shows up. Is that OK? AC Delco on a Motorcraft distributor? Plug wires, 3 brake hoses, a wheel cylinder and a cylinder kit, the backup switch, $50 including shipping. That's for next weekend. I have not yet pulled a wheel off this thing.
