I'm john and I'm a pack rat... but I'm trying to reform... going to clean up my server, clean up the content, simplify... organize... I have pictures of manuals and such on my server for sale, have sold a handful of items... have a lot more brochures and such that I've found... I can't throw stuff away... http://wagoneers.com/sell/ some of this stuff I paid really good money for too... :) I'm going through all my books and textbooks... been teaching electronics, computers, programming and UNIX/Linux since the '70s... I can't just toss books... even the bad ones... it's an addiction I know... :) ALSO was wondering if keeping the digests on wagoneers.com, johnmeister.com are worth the disk space/trouble... I have almost all of them from the beginning of the FSJ, XJ and Diesel Benz lists... they were stored on digest.net at one point but I haven't been able to find them... Knowing that most forums are a wasteland of unanswered questions... at least with our list we eventually answer the question and if you find the question you just have to go to follow on digests to get an answer... and if it's a big enough deal someone may have created a page for it... which would make more sense actually, instead of sifting through the friendly chatter... anyway... I'm thinking of just nuking the digests and not saving them any more... as well as all the old pictures of rigs and such, except for a few... and I may just put together a collection of pictures... not sure yet... one good thing is that if I do nuke a picture that you wanted, it's quite possible the wayback machine will find it for you. ;) plus if it's really really important and you know the file name I likely will have a copy some where... maybe... I'll wait a little bit before I start nuking the old digests... working my way through my Linux and CS notes first... it's not an issue of space have plenty, it's just that if I have the digests on the server I'm compelled to save new ones... I'm not convinced it's worth the trouble... let me know if there's a value-add to keeping the digests, and make me an offer on anything you see for sale if there isn't a price... if you're in the Seattle area and interested in any computer science type books you'll have to drop by... I just need to start gathering ISBNs and contact Powell Books in Portland and make a run down there... hopefully the tires will hold... ;) when I quit doing circuit design I had a large cabinet full of parts data manuals, I filled the back of a full size wagoneer and took them to a used book store and sold them all... was hard to do... those books aren't in print... I know, I know... be strong... :) must remember, this is wagoneers.com, not google.com... :) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -o|||||o- Linux: the choice of a GNU generation http://WAGONEERS.COM Snohomish, WA- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ...shop AMSOIL directly at: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education" Theodore Roosevelt (26th President (1901-09), 1858-1919) RTB&TRSTGZS - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Nov 2012 00:59:55 -0500 From: JeepNut Subject: Re: fsj: digests, server cleanup... manuals, brochures, etc for sale feelin' your pain on getting rid of the printed matter...lol. I'm coming to that point as well, where I really just HAVE to start getting rid of stuff, cause it's gonna take a few years... But I just hate having to get rid of books and manuals, and such... but the fact is that I'm outliving the technology I grew up on. LOL. Which .. maybe isn't abnormal at all but it FEELS weird! But a lot of what I know "no longer applies" it seems. And I suppose it's the same with a lot of the books, manuals, and other documentation I have around here. I could easily grab within reach of me right now, at least... oh, probably 100+ disks of "windows" software. I don't know why I have all this "junk". 10001 Games for DOS! lol... various Windows 95 software, I kid you not... bundled software and driver discs from thousands of dollars of hardware, Microsoft Technet, the entire binder full plus updates,.. various leftovers from bygone days. I haven't had a windows computer in the house for years and haven't supported anyone in the family much for Windows stuff since Win98/XP... I've got no use for Windows, so I don't keep up with it anymore. In fact I just mailed a PC back to my step son. I set up his HP box with opensuse/KDE. All setup so I can remote in and show him what he needs to know as need be. So one day... I'll eventually gather all that junk up and have a big pile of polycarbonate to go out with the trash... wish there was something useful to do with used 4" discs. I've thrown away (or shredded) an MJ truck load of those things over the years... On 11/28/2012 11:58 PM, john wrote: > hello... Now have done the front hoses and it's time to get the light off. It is not coming off by itself, took it to Meineke and they bled the brakes and it is still on. Yes at one point the front reservoir was out of fluid in front, and I did bleed that reservoir of the master cylinder. I have observed while bleeding the front brakes that the piston moves forward as the fluid moves through, but then it returns to the rear. I have read that if the pressures are equal between front and rear, this should solve the problem. I have read that if you slightly open the front bleeders, the piston can be forced forward and kept there by closing the bleeders, maybe holding the pin with pliers as it moves forward? Any suggested techniques here...? Thanks.
